In is day and age, many people rely on the internet, social media sites and the television for news. Before we know it, the printed newspaper will be a novelty and we will reminisce about the good ole days.
Prior to the 1950's, we relied on the printed newspaper and the radio for our news. When televisions were introduced, we began to witness the perpetual decline in the reliance in newspapers. Last year, newspaper subscriptions fell over 5%.
I am proud to support the Idalou Beacon (with 2 annual subscriptions) and enjoy each week when I get to thumb though the newest edition. The Idalou Beacon provides updates on cotton farming (cradle to grave....or should I say cultivating to baling), highlights students and their accomplishments, provides residents with updates on social gatherings, crime, obituaries, buy local opportunities, recipes,
My favorite thing is the Rave on column, written by the Editor.
