I'm so thankful it was open when I was in town. For a small fee you can appreciate Boise history at its finest. It's small but there is much to see and appreciate . Recommend you stop by and support this place.

I can't believe it hasn't been reviewed since the giant remodel! Hopefully this is the right one. If you're looking for anything from a fun date to a family outing I think this place can deliver. The downtown location has ample parking, easy to get in and out. It's located right next to so many things it's easy to make a day of the Julia Davis area. The park itself is beautiful, the art museum, the zoo, the library, the black history museum, and the rose garden. Admission for adults is 10$, well worth the price. My husband and I are Idaho natives and had not been to the museum since childhood. We both learned so much! It took us several hours to go through and read and see most of it. To be honest I got a little tired at the end with the more modern history and left without thoroughly investigating. There are a ton of interactive exhibits, great for families and even my husband and I enjoyed the visual displays. The staff was incredibly sweet explaining everything! Apparently Disney had a hand in designing some of it, or Disney engineers. The new building over all is incredibly swanky. There is so much ground to cover! Early life in the area, wildlife, mining history, Oregon trail, industry, it really is a start to finish history. I really enjoyed the ownership the exhibits take in some of the horrible things that have been done to the native people. It was delicately handled and appropriate in my opinion for all ages. The gift shop has a decent selection, but pricey. The place has a beautiful event center by the looks of it and many rooms for education. The event center has a beautiful bar, piano, and glass dome art. It's a great place and you can easily make most of a day of it. Grab some lunch after, and maybe a flick and The Flicks!

This is the worst museum we have been to. It was shocking how few museum pieces there are. The small town museums in idaho are WAY better!

It opened in 1985 and is the only Basque museum in the US. Inside the museum are artifacts, photographs & collections of manuscripts and tapes describing the Basque immigration to the American West. It is on the Basque Block between Capital Blvd & 6th St. close to spots to try some traditional Basque food. It's an example of conservation & documentation of a living ethnic neighborhood. It's comprised of 2 historic boardinghouses, the Basque Center, the Basque Museum & Cultural Center, Bar Gernika, Leku Ona, the Basque Market ... The woman who we purchased tickets from was very nice and welcoming. She gave us a nice overview of the museum. It was not busy so we were able to discover the place at a leisurely pace. Admission to the Museum also gives you admission to the Cyrus Jacobs Uberuaga House next door. It was built in 1864 and housed families before becoming a boardinghouse. The tour guide in the house was great, very knowledgeable about the history of the house and the Basque culture. There is gift shop with various cultural items. Good museum experience.

This was an outstanding experience. First, the people who work there obviously love what they do…read more They are very knowledgeable and take the time to greet you and explain what they do. There are also people who walk around with falcon-gear complete with falcon on their arm. Falcons, condors, owls, and an eagle were represented. They put on a short presentation where they allow a Peregrine Falcon to fly around the room while they talk about falconing, etc. That was exciting. There are outdoor and indoor exhibits. We picked a great day to visit - it was over 80 degrees, so we spent a lot of time walking around visiting the outdoor exhibits. We didn't miss anything indoors either. If you are in the Boise area - this is a must see.

The birds were not shy and being so close to their enclosures was so cool. There are several different types of falcons and raptors. My favorites were the California Condor whose wings span 9 feet across and the cute harpy eagle. The live demonstration with Macey was neat. She brought out Clara, a small falcon that would fly right above our heads from perch to perch. If coming to Boise, thos is a great stop. You only need up to 90 minutes to take it all in and learn about how the Peregrine Fund is saving so many birds from extinction.
