Until very recently, we didn't have many outages but now it is almost a constant occurrence. Their outage map shows nothing and i don't have time to wait on hold. Forget about "talking" to chat. AI sucks. Blackrock and Vanguard are majority shareholders of this utility as they are in about 99% of them nationwide, so there's your reason for terrible service from monopolies. read more

Poor customer service. They will continually charge you after you cancel service and will subsequently send to collections. Fair warning to all who are forced to use their service, or lack thereof. read more

Prices seem to jump without notice, I thought that was the morale thing. Idaho power billing system 2 stars. Idaho power phone service 3 stars. To the employee who turned my wife she was Not Leaving Her Driveway. Be careful, with her anxiety you really hurt her because what you said sounded like a threat. Should have seen her on factime. This power company really Needs to calm down about what kind of Power you think you have and that they can use. This isn't texas, no one is shooting at you and we give you respect. Show respect Back! read more

My bill quite literally doubled. When i called she said i am using more power at 11 at night IM ASLEEP and she said the ac is still going and i said well yes but its working harder at the hottest part of the day but your telling me its working harder at night like what. So frustrating. And she said rates went up. Just one more company trying to rip their customers off because they know they can. Fuck this place read more

Idaho Power is awful. Quick at taking money, slow at providing service. Just a greedy monopoly that we have no choice but to use. The DO NOT notify you if you are past due, youre only notification is when the power is turned off. They sure are quick at charging you a reconnect fee also. Just garbage. One star is too many for them. read more

Paid online. Got a receipt. Following month received a bill for double and threatened on their statement to take away my Budget Pay if I didn't pay my bill. Found out through their website the payment had been declined. Never received a notice the payment had been declined. Why give a receipt if payment was declined? read more

My experience is that if Autopay does not go through, they have no commitment to contact you. I was 45 days past due before I received any contact. I wouldn't think to contact them tho because I see the money pending withdrawal from my bank app. Smug Bil? is ok knocking like a police officer on the glass rather than the wood of the door, we have a ring camera that could have been pressed and our Alexa would have helped us both out with that if he pressed the button. But he is just kind enough to let us finish a shower. Still, if they contacted us within 30 days of the autopay not working this could have been resolved. Waiting that long made it that I'm paying 3 months of bills for 1 month and 2 months in 1 month. I know who's job that is, it can be fixed. Want help? I'll take that job! All things together, they will work with you but don't expect them to *offer it. You have to find the avenues. Thank you to Linda?, on the phone helping us keep it on. read more

I was 1 and 1/2 months late. Apparently I misplaced a bill. This seemed a little overeager of them to shut off the power... I guess they like the reinstatement fees. read more

This Company got out being accountable and responsible by outsourcing their billing to a third party. This vendor can be unaccountable as it hides behind this utilities monopoly status and the weak oversight by the Idaho PUC In my case I signed up for there pay pay portal to pay my bill. Because of some banking account number transpositions tow checks were rejected by the bank. Other than that all Idaho Power bills were paid on time. Trying to correct the account number problem if found that Idaho Power and its vendor have locked me out of bill pay for the next 12 months. What kind of a policy is this ? Customer service was unable to fix the problem and escalated the problem to the tier two group which was ineffective and did not help. No logic or wisdom here, just be real careful in dealing with such a monopoly that has no recourse or oversight . read more

I asked Idaho power if they could come remove the top of this tree for me so I could have it pushed over with the big equipment that is currently doing work on my property. The tree suffered from poor health most likely from past trims of Idaho power. I know Idaho power has a tree crew that is not far from my property, yet they still declined my request. The tree is sandwiched between two homes and has a transformer on the other side. The driveway goes to the base of the tree making it a very easy quick trim for Idaho Power. They offered to come out and turn off my service line (black and silver line- that is clearly, not in the way). I care about the safety of Idaho Power trimmers, that is why I let them remove a multitude of young trees from my property. Clearly they do not care about their customers the same way! We pay they too much already, they are so disappointing!!! read more

After multiple power outages we attempted to contact Idaho Power via email asking for more information. They replied by giving us their customer service number. It's an automated system that never allowed us to speak to anyone at Idaho Power. These are managers who could care less about the customers they serve and it's sad to see this organization decline into the gutters. read more

Who do I contact about the fact that I have budget pay of 80 dollars a months, my billed amount has been 50-60 per month, I called to check my outstanding balance and there was none but somehow two months before my Liheap benefit hits I OWE THEM 400 FREAKING DOLLARS? I freeze every fucking winter, Im told by the idiots in their call center they cant explain the charges but somehow I have to pay this balance that didnt exist and WAS NOT ON MY FUCKING BILL and thats why its a thing. I moved out of Whitewater Park Apartments on July 7th and on that day I logged into my Idaho Power account to end service. When I went to the end service tab I received a message saying that my account didn't have active service at this time (I have screenshots of this message). I assumed that the apartment complex had put the power back on them and I went along with my life. I just received a bill from Idaho Power and when I called they told me that I had not communicated that I wanted to end service and that there was nothing that they can do to help me. The problem is that THEY communicated to me that the service was ended by saying that there was no service set up on my account. They will not refund me the charges from July 7th and they plan on billing me for August 1-5th. I cannot believe that in this day and age a company like Idaho Power would treat people like this. read more

Idaho Power - Utilities Near Me - Boise, Idaho

Very Expensive. Ridiculous Late Fees. No Mercy on Billing. Absolutely terrible. We have had power outage for the past two and a half hours and every neighbor on my block is trying to call and we cannot get a response and there's no truck on our block to fix this. Their app and online portal are the absolute worst. When I call and type in my account number, it pulls it up, but it cannot find the exact same account number when I put it in online. It never sends a password reset email and most of the time the login info is correct but it just. Can't. Compute. They were quick to come and turn my parent's power back on, but that was after they shut it off one random day after not calling, emailing, or trying to make any kind of contact with them except sending a notice to the wrong mailbox. Currently typing this at 10:50pm because I remembered my payment was due, but I was never able to get into my account to set up auto pay, and now it can't find me in the stupid system by account number or my SSN or anything, so I guess I have to go call the customer service automated line to tell it the exact same info. Ridiculous. read more

I have to give a 5 star across the board on these folks. We came from an area that had the single most corrupt and greedy power company in the nation. They did nothing for their customers and only helped only themselves. Idaho Power, on the other hand has done something that's as allusive to power company's as the snow leopard is- they went way above and beyond the call. There people were awesome, they don't turn the electric off every time the wind blows and they did something else that truly gut punched me- they sent me a "welcome to the neighborhood gift box". It was really awesome as it contained super high efficiency light bulbs, a little book on how to reduce usage, a night light and even a welcome card. Truly can't ask more out of an electric company. Bravo Idaho Power. It really meant a lot to receive thsr package. Just another example of why we are so happy to be here!!! read more

Called in to resolve another issue with my deceased mother's account. Paid everything months ago, switched the address to my account. Zero balances showing, paying every month since April on new bills, no problem. I still have to call every month to update my address since bills are going to the old address... today I called in since I was notified of a collection notice for $200? Despite multiple phone calls and emails in the past 3 months to settle the account, no one mentioned this and the ass I got to speak with today thought it was appropriate to mock me repeatedly, talk over me and overall suck at being a human being. Way to go. Thanks for making this already difficult time even harder. read more

you guys are a terrible company you guys like to raise peoples rates you don't honor your arrangements you make with your customers you cut people off people that are sick people that have financial hardships because of the $500 bills that you guys send out every month to a lot of Idahoans . if Idaho was really smart we would definitely ban together to get you guys to give us a decent rate. Did you know that in Florida you could pre-pay for your electricity? Did you also know that only $75 every two weeks is enough to keep a household running, and that is running air-conditioning and heater, so you guys are really expensive. You guys are charging us those California rates for people who don't make California salary. I hope your company goes bankrupt for the idiotic prices that you guys are charging people not happy with your service at all and as soon as we can get off of the grid, we are going to be there. We have everything we need, I will be filing paperwork with Congress to get our rates lowered here we can't afford this anymore Idaho power, and you have taken advantage of the Idaho people too long read more

One of the worst monopoly's I've had the displeasure of dealing with. By working with the local government Idaho Power was permitted to charge more per kWh. Their profit margin was higher then ever previously, but because of government mandated "Green" energy charges, they not only wanted to protect their profit margin but sought to increase it. Not only are they charging more per kWh then ever before, they also pass along the extra cost of the government mandated "Green" initiative down to their customers. Essentially it would seem they are double dipping. Making the people, who especially in Idaho, did not want this fake "Green" initiative that literally does nothing to help our planet. All in all Idaho Power has sought to price gouge their "customers" and got the stamp of approval from Idaho's government officials who approved their price increase on local residents. I would say it's about time the people of Idaho got together to hold our greedy officials responsible for doubling Idaho Powers profit margin in a time when the majority of residents are struggling financially from failed federal government action causing our current dysfunctional economy with inflation at insane highs. read more

We participated in the energy savings plan regarding our air conditioner, being told it could be reversed anytime. I couldn't get it house under 82 degrees yesterday until after 10:00 pm. There is no one to even contact until two days from now. Who knows how long it will take for them to come out here when I do talk to somebody? We have pets. Going to have to stay somewhere else till this is fixed. There is a box on my house that took my climate control away, and I'm not even allowed to tamper with it. Terrible customer service. The power went out at my home and I called customer service. I told her there was an Idaho power truck in front of my house. She had no idea why the truck was at my house because apparently they don't know when they dispatch crew for service. All she knew is that the crew was probably working somewhere in my street. The new automated system they installed sucks. Absolutely hate it I was trying and trying to pay my bill online the same as I do every month and I was getting nowhere except a 28 min. Wait time some how there was a glitch in the system I ended up connected to outages lady I think her name was Veronica but this lady deserves a raise she didn't complain or transfer me for the 4th time she just allowed me to pay my power bill. Technology is supposed to be more convenient easier to do on the go it is about ridiculous as far as all that goes usually my check in the mail would get there faster than me paying online or through the phone. Sometimes it's super easy and sometimes it's damn near impossible. I stopped services at my apartment. They opened new services at that location under my account after the cancellation, sent no indication of this, and charged me despite me not living there. They have terrible customers service. They hire people that can not think or have any problem solving skills. My husband called with a problem. The incompetent customer service person could only repeat the same blurb over and over without helping us solve the solution. Then when I challenged her to tell us something that could help instead of repeating the same simple sentence over and over that did not help solve the problem she hung up. What do you know my husband had to call back and the next person fixed the problem in less than 3 minutes after sharing the same problem.
