Mathnasium

I watched math videos, tried to teach myself the material...and I was spending over three hours a day on this, to no avail. I tried a private tutor, also to no avail. My poor son was embarrassed, depressed, talked frequently about how stupid he was, and subsequently, he often avoided even trying to learn because he felt as though no matter how hard he worked, he could never understand the material. It was all awful. Then we found Mathnasium! My kid was hesitant at first, because he thought it would just be for younger students and that he'd stand out as a high school student, but after his first session, he's never once hesitated to go. Not only are the instructors clearly great educators who have figured out how to reach my son and understand his learning style, but they have made him so, so comfortable during his visits. Truly, it was a matter of four sessions before we save an improvement, and my son now has a B in his class. From an F to a B? Wow. I am stunned, elated, and incredibly grateful to have this program available. Additionally, I get regular emails and texts from the director and staff, checking in to see how I'm feeling, if I have questions, etc. I cannot say enough about Mathnasium. Mathnasium has not only helped my child's grade soar, but more importantly, the lovely teachers there have helped his self-esteem soar. He believes in himself again.

As of today I've paid them $4,243 to tutor my kids to pass in math in their 5th and 7th grade math. When we started last June it looked promising, I was told to be effective to bring my kids twice a week for an hour each time. I brought my kids on this recommended schedule only to find my kids still continuing to fall behind in math. I brought this to the attention of the owner Richard and he advised to link up with the kids school teachers (which would have been helpful on the front end) only for this to continue to hold my kids back. The math the kids were working on was from too far back in time and not the current issues they were having in school to pass. I would bring them every Tuesday and Thursday night from 4-5PM or from 5-6PM and they were still falling behind. Spending $529/month for two kids to fall behind in school for 7 months I had to halt services because I can't afford to send money after bad money that isn't helping my children succeed in school. Richard has now not only charged me for another month and wont give a full refund for this month since we will no longer be using Mathnasium but has also blamed me for my kids not succeeding more in math by not bringing the kids to Mathnasium more times a week. The kids also have other subjects in school so all of our time can not be fully consumed by Mathnasium. Seven months of two times a week for an hour each session of regular attendance should yield results. I'm not only dissatisfied by this company, but devastated to have invested so much money and time into something that didn't work. I feel lied to and taken advantage of and insulted by the owner. The ultimate horrible reality is that my kids suffered the most as a result of this scam company.

The Ark Learning Center - Hooksett

My son attended the ark in hookset for 4 months. Originally my son was a student at the…read moreLondonderry. His time at Londonderry was cut short because the ark could not afford a third location. You would think there might've been some sort of notice that they provide the families that have sent their children there, been loyal and given thousands of dollars to them, however they gave us about an eight day notice 3 holiday days ans 2 weekend. they informed us that they would not be reopening after the Thanksgiving break. Because they told us the days before Thanksgiving there was limited amount of time that parents could call other daycares or schedule any tours. Because of this extreme unprofessional action we ended up taking him to the hookset location. We were told that "many" of the staff members would be going to the hookset location, but that was dishonest. Very quickly we saw that it was not ran the same way as Londonderry, even though it's the same business. My son's main teacher was "laid off" and somehow my son knew before I did, which was a problem for me. I then had a four-year-old very upset and I didn't know how to help them because I was not told by the school for days. They had a staffing change with his main teacher and did not tell parents for days! I told the school my son was sad his teacher "went to a new school" that same day she was laid off and I told the school I was upset that they told children that their teachers were not returning before telling parents. I was dismissed and called in for a meeting with the new director Casey and the owner( over zoom). The meeting interrupted my workday. 20 min before the meeting I was asked to move the time of my scheduled meeting so they could schedule a tour with a prospective student. That was not an appropriate request to make because your prioritizing a possible student over a student that you already have and failing. The meeting was a waste of my time. Issues were dismissed or lied about. Both the owner and Casey are tonedeaf, and condescending. Casey spent time saying being a parent was the reason that she could not communicate his teacher had left and also the reason that they couldn't communicate in person that the Londonderry school closing. When you're working it doesn't matter how many children you have it matters how well you do your job. They both refused to tell me that the kids knew and told me that my son is just "super smart" and figured that all out by himself from his Teacher not returning that afternoon. After that teacher/also prev director was let go, many other staff members left and all that were from the Londonderry location left within roughly 2 months. I brought up concerns about children being inappropriate and violent, playing violent games and was told that's a "typical" daycare thing. I then said I wanted parents talked to and the new director Casey informed me that she already pulled "all the dads"of that class to the side before this meeting. This made me question, I think a lot of kids in that classroom are also picked up by their moms so that didn't really make sense and it also didn't seem very truthful. Then more staff left this mast 2 weeks. He now has no preschool teacher in the classrooms and a new "teacher" is there almost daily. they don't seem to care to make the kids comfortable or feel supported there. I tried talking to the school about how much notice was needed they wanted me to refer to the handbook that says a two week notice has to be given or you have to pay for the two weeks. when I said that we weren't given a two week notice when the Londonderry school closed and I would hope that they'd be fair and honor a one week notice as they gave they said that they did give a two week notice and continue to deny that they didn't give a two week notice even though I have the actual brightwheel message from the school. Since this "director" Casey has taken over it seems to absolutely have gone even more downhill. Staff is visibly unhappy and they're not able to build meaningful connections with the students. It also makes me wonder how the kids are being cared for during the day. If staff is leaving every week there seems like something else might be going on. I would not recommend sending your kid here to the hookset location and I definitely would not recommend the director in their current role or the owner

Parents be vigilant and do your homework before choosing a daycare, I do not recommend bringing your children here.

First hand meeting Ann Kilroy Whitman, was very easy and relaxing . I felt as if I had found the…read moreperfect midwife to deliver my babygirl. She was very soft spoken, very reassuring and seemed nurtuting . She has over 30 years of experience and has many kids herself and this gave me peace of mind knowing I was making the right choice in having a home birth. I had expressed to Ann my concern of having a home birth after a c section and the risk of having a uterine rupture. She assured me that only 1% in women have a uterine rupture and this was very unlikely. She didn't seem concerned at all about this happening, which cleared up my worries. I wanted to address a few concerns of care, my understanding was that there would be two caregivers present to assist me during my birth. I recall inquiring about the necessity of hiring a doula, to which she advised against it, stating the presence that there would be two caregivers during my birth, which is one of the reasons why I decided to hire her for services. Luckily, I had two of my closest friends to support although they weren't being paid for services. They gave me massages through out my labor and I felt seen. Some of the times I would look over at Ann , I would find her sleeping on my couch. I get it because the labor was long and it was midnight . She would wake up Ofcourse and check on my pulse and the baby's heart rate . After a few hours my friends and Ann would take turns beside while I was in labor. However, after a while Ann told me to bear down and push as if I was to give birth. I thought in my head this was it and I would push with everything I had which it felt like I was pushing for hours. Ann never at any point checked to see how dilated I was, until my friends persisted she checked. Finally, she did and I was only 4cm dilated the entire time I was pushing. After almost 14 hours of labor, seeing some blood in the water and Ann stating my baby was sitting too posteriorly still, I had to be driven down to the hospital for an emergency c -section. My uterus ruptured and the doctors called it a Miracle, they said I came just in time otherwise I would have had to have a hysterectomy. This was all very traumatizing! What was most concerning was that Ann did not call the hospital to let them know I was on the way, and she also did not check up on me and my baby after this all happened. I did request a refund , due to her lack of care which I understood was not going to be possible and she did refund me the doula fee which was $700, due to the fact that she said there would be 2 caregivers present and only she showed up. I believe Ann is very knowledgeable and offers good standard care, I just wanted to share my story in case anyone else goes through this and is looking into home births after a c-section, please just be aware and make sure she check how dilated you are before starting to push. Sincerely, Shirley
