Not sure about all the amazing reviews... tried one of the sushi rolls which was very bland, and the teriyaki chicken, which was downright horrible. As a graphic designer, we joke that you can get projects done quickly, cheaply, or done well. If you're lucky maybe two of the three, but you can certainly not get all. I'm starting to think this also applies to food. Ichiban Express is quick and cheap, but it is certainly not quality. The low quality all dark meat chicken dishes are a testament to that. read more

Solid cheap sushi rolls. The spicy tuna and salmon were good, great if you are looking for budget food that isn't battered and deep fried. I wasn't a fan of the dynamite roll, it was not as fresh-tasting as the other rolls. We did carryout and they had it ready within a desired time of 15 minutes. In summary, "fast food express". Not as good as the sit down hibachi but better than the run of the mill Chinese. The chicken curry was ok and a little Spicer than expected. Not even close to the average Thai curry. The hibachi chicken was not to bad and probably my favorite dish we had. The sushi is like what you would expect to get off a Chinese buffet. First thing I noticed when I walked in was that it was pretty packed! It was lunch time but I came in to get sushi for lunch and grab my mom and I some chicken hibachi for dinner later. Because of reviews on Yelp, this is what prompted me to make my way here. There's a huge window so you can see the hibachi action going if you want to watch while you wait which was pretty cool. I ordered the Monster Roll, Dynamite Roll and two chicken hibachi meals with fried rice. The sushi was okay! Best I've had? No. Best in the McDonough area that I've tried so far? Yes! I still have a few more places to check out but so far this is the best! Very tasty and I enjoyed both rolls! Now to the hibachi....the chicken was flavorless, I wish they seasoned it. The fried rice also had no flavor. I had to drown both in the Yum Yum Sauce (which was delish!) to give flavor. Maybe I'm so used to Benihana and I'm spoiled by it but sometimes you just don't want to make that drive ALLLLL the way to Atlanta, or spend the money so you try to find a cost efficient option closer to home. Maybe you just get what you paid for LOL. I'll come back for the sushi but I'll stick to Benihana for my hibachi! read more

Excellent food!! I have eaten here twice both times amazing. The quality of meat is amazing for the price, I will definitely be back here! I just hope they don't change like most restaurants trying to save money! One thing I would suggest to them is a ginger sauce and add one more orange sauce. The first time eating here the Orange sauce was really watery, the second time it was thicker which was better! It reminded me of this place called choo choo's in Athens ga, but a better quality of meat and veggies. Although the sauces at choo choo's are better and the give u 2 orange one ginger! Fresh meats, vegetables, and fried rice. The food was very good and very affordable. Although the quality of the food is as good or better than many hibachi steakhouse restaurants, the prices are much lower. You don't get the entertainment at your table, of course, but if you're going for the food, instead of the show, then this is the place to go. My sister and I were out shopping on Christmas eve (early afternoon, around 2 maybe 3)...this place was just across the street from where we were and we're moving to the area soon, so we're always looking for new places to eat that'll be nearby...The food was great. I had the steak hibachi and it was cooked to perfection. My only complaints are that there was no low sodium soy sauce and the sweet tea was a little on the weak side...neither of which will deter me from returning. read more

This is a great place for Hibachi. I've been here twice now and the steak is amazing and the shrimp is cooked quite nicely. If you like yum yum sauce you may have to ask for extra though as I was only given two when I ate in and one when I did take out. So! All in all, the only thing that sucks is waiting for it to be cooked. This is gonna be a once a week place for me. read more

I'm a big fan of Hibachi and was excited when my co-worker told me about this place which offered Hibachi and Sushi quickly and to-go which isn't always easy to find around the area. The ambiance was nice, the restaurant clean and the staff helpful and courteous. My order came out wrong ( I ordered steak and got shrimp and didn't realize until I was back at home) so I was a little dissapointed but I still enjoyed my meal as did the rest of my family. we all had the Hibachi this time. Being a fairly recent sushi convert, it has been fantastic to find a local sushi shop that meets that new craving and does the cuisine well. So far, I have only ordered two items from the menu (both phenomenal). The Spicy Red Rose (tuna) is the perfect specialty roll for anyone who likes that additional kick aside from the wasabi garnish. But the Miso Soup is 6-star worthy. Theirs is a white miso (I don't think they offer red) mixed with seaweed leaves, and the flavor is as authentic and exceptional as you could expect from a table in Tokyo. Asked about sashimi, but that is sadly not offered (yet?). Will be returning frequently! read more

Excellent food at reasonable prices. It's an order at the counter place but you can see the hibachi grill behind a glass wall. The food score is 100. We ordered 3 hibachi meals, chicken fried rice and 4 drinks and it was $35, which I think is quite reasonable for hibachi. The food came out fast but is served in takeout containers regardless of whether you eat in, which comes in handy since the portions are large. The only negative comment I have is that there isn't a kids menu. This was our first time here and will definitely return. read more

first time i saw this Place is when i bought some sandwich from firehouse subs.I like hibachi,so i decided to try.I have steak and shrimp,the steak is hard and the shrimp is not fresh,and white sauce it just tasted like mayo.I saw they have sushi too,but i do not see sushi bar in the restaurant,they make sushi in the kitchen,and u do not know how fresh the fish,first time i see restaurant make sushi in the kitchen,dont know what they put in your rolls. read more

I read reviews pretty often so of course I read several reviews for Ichiban Express before I tried it. I will say, before I go into why I gave this place 1 star, the customer service was decent (other than wait time). The few workers I saw were all pleasant. The negative reviews I read all seemed to be because it was cheap food court like food. Well, I love food court chinese/japanese so I was excited to try this place. This however was just plain awful. It took about 30 minutes for my takeout food and I was the only person in the restaurant when I walked in. I ordered the hibachi chicken and a sushi roll. I asked the cashier which was better the hibachi chicken or the teryaki chicken and she recommended the hibachi. The hibachi chicken was slightly better than edible so I can't imagine how awful the teryaki is if I got the better option. The sushi is without exaggeration the worst sushi I've ever had. I got the vegetable roll which is avacado, seaweed, mango wrapped in rice. Not sure how such a simple sushi roll was so bad but I threw most of it away and I was hungry! So, if you're like me and read reviews before you try a new place.. trust me, don't bother with Ichiban Express. read more
