This was my first time flying Loganair, dubbed "Scotland's Airline", which I never knew existed…read moreuntil I was given our finalized European itinerary. We used them from Glasgow (GLA) to get to Islay (ILY), an island in Scotland during our two-week long European trip, and from ILY to GLA. Along with flying Loganair for the first time, this was also my first time on a commercial propeller plane (model ATR 42), AND getting back to GLA from ILY ended up being the shortest flight I've ever been on in my life, which only lasted 20 minutes, beating out two of my separate 45 minute long flights to California. Your carry on size must be limited to a very small bag (i.e., purse), as there's not a whole lot of space underneath the seat in front of you. If the criteria are not met, you may have to check your bag in. Since both flights to and back were super short, no cabin service was provided, which was expected. The first flight went smoothly with no issues at all, but the second flight was a little wobbly, especially during takeoff and landing, which was a little nerve wracking for me. Despite the bumpy takeoff and landing on the second flight, I didn't have any problems with this airline at all. Not bad as a first timer.

A fantastic, short, return flight from Heathrow to Derry. This Scottish Airline may be 'small', in…read morecomparison, but other airlines could learn a thing or two from Loganair. Our flights were dead on time from take off to landing. Service was friendly and I really don't know how the flight attendant, on both trips, managed to serve tea, coffee or water with a biscuit in time. Loved the flight and will certainly use Loganair again.

Another day another airport. Well, the same that I was at a couple of days ago. The good thing…read moreabout this airport that getting through security is so much easier than LA. Even when you check in at the counter. The line isn't that long and there's always a good amount of someone working the counter. International airport and it's easier to maneuver, that's a win in my book. Also there's plenty of weigh stations that you can use for a pound to see if your luggage weight limits is correct before checking it in and having to readjusts. Security is upstairs. Scan your boarding pass to enter through before security. It's alway nice to have something that speedy and easy. The waiting area has a good amount of eating places. There's some fast food restaurants as well as sit down. Shopping is available as well with duty free at the beginning. What I don't like is they won't display your gate until it gets close to barding time. The airport isn't that big so it wouldn't be too much of a struggle trying to get to the correct one.

We flew out from here. We decided to go to the airport early since we were done with being out and…read moreabout while it was raining. We came here 3 hours before our flight, which is a bit excessive. We couldn't even check in our luggage until 2:30 before the flight. Afterwards we made our way to the security screening. There was only one lane open and it took about 30 minutes. There are some restaurants, but not much else to do. We ended up being here even longer since our flight was delayed over an hour due to strong winds.

Bizarre little hotel within walking distance of the Glasgow airport. First of all they do not…read morerespond to emails so hopefully you have no questions prior to arrival. Then, what should have been the checkin counter was the bar and you had to use one of two digital kioks to check in. If you didn't have help from the bartender you would be standing for way too long annoying all the other people hoping to check in after you. You can scan a qr code if you find it in your email but if you registered more than one person in your room, the system will want all of the other's info including passport, taking even more time. The only way to skip this is to say your partner is from the UK. Every inch of the hotel is infused with cigarette smoke. The lobby bathroom, the rooms, the small bar area all have a giant smell of smoke. The carpet in the room also carries the irritant. Inside the room you have to use your key to turn on the lights so mle sure you get two. The bed is fairly firm and comfortable. Shower was hot with great water pressure but only hair/body wash. Terrible if you care about your hair. Our room window faces the parking lot so it was quite noisy. There is one restaurant and the hostesses are also the servers. Although the place was mostly empty they made us wait an hour for a table. By the time they say us they were out of the only thing we wanted to eat-grilled chicken! With no other place to go nearby we sucked it up and had the curry that was premade so at least we could get four tiny pieces of rubbery chicken to go with our rice and curry sauce. Total disappointment- two dishes, one beer and one tiny bowl of cheese fries came to $55 usd. Catch a Glasgo cab and have a proper dinner someplace else.

The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and happy (a lot more than the corporate airline character did). It was a warm welcome to be treated with kindness, compassion, and humanity after our dehumanizing airline experience. The meal provided in the hotel restaurant was more than adequate. I am gluten-free and they accommodated my requests seamlessly. The wine on offer was decent too. It was all served with a smile and swiftly (without feeling rushed). The room we had was a decent size and for a chain hotel I was impressed with the comfort: a nice settee and ample room for two. While lacking character it made up for in cleanliness. More toiletries would be nice but I am noticing a trend in hotels in general to skimp on things like conditioner, body lotions, iron in the room, and even a minibar. But other than that, a really decent place to rest for a few hours in a pinch/ travel difficulty!
