Three of us stayed here in one room for two nights in January. We had a 6am flight into Birmingham so were up all night and when we were finally able to check in at 2pm I had to make my own bed - on a bunk bed, after being awake 30+ hours straight.
The room was uncomfortably warm, even with the window open, which made sleeping difficult. Eventually we mentioned it to the staff who provided us with an electric fan.
We were placed on the 5th floor where there seemed to be building work going on - there was broken glass and debris all over the corridor floor and dust levels that, as an asthmatic, I can say weren't 100% lung-friendly. My friend got out of the lift at the fifth floor and a builder asked her rudely if this was where she had intended to get off. As we were staying for such a short time and weren't often in the hotel room we decided we could put up with it but it seemed a little off.
We had to ask for a third towel in a three-person room and when housekeeping came the next morning they took my towel and did not replace it, and again didn't make my bed.
The shower is nice but opens straight into the bedroom with almost no privacy.
The breakfast is okay but if you're looking for good quality it might be best to try one of the cafes down the street.
Overall - it was budget accommodation, but I've stayed in budget accommodation that offers much more for the same price. The location, however, is great - a ten-minute walk from the Bullring/town centre and a fifteen-minute walk from Broad Street. The staff were friendly friendly and their service was good - they were willing to help with any issues we mentioned. The lobby is comfortable and the atmosphere is friendly. read more
