The service was generally good except for towel service. We showered couple times of day and needed wash cloths. But each time we asked they brought the wrong towels. We'd wait an hour or more and they'd arrive with large dry towels, hand towels, and even robes!!! The rooms were a little rough and worn but clean. Our shower ran into the toilet area but a few towels kept the water from overflowing into the vanity area. The water in the sink was a trickle and the shower was almost cold. But, I'm especially happy with Larry at the hibachi restaurant. His food was AMAZING! We were very satisfied with his presentation and the flavors. We stayed on the selection side. The drinks were better there and the food was. We were disappointed in the selection side restaurant taste and quality but it's an all inclusive so it was expected so the coral side was a nice surprise. The pools on the entire property were nice. We arrived in mid July so they weren't super cold but refreshing enough against the heat. The spa massage was nice but the hydrotherapy area is disappointing. The rooms were nice but they never really got cold enough even after requesting the temperature be turned to its lowest setting of 19 degrees (c). We loved the ocean view from our room and the whirlpool on the balcony was a nice touch. Service was excellent and the entire place has the most wonderful fragrance! read more

a last minute decision to take a few days away in Cancun at the Iberostar Resort and things were a mixed bag of good and bad. Here is the rundown of how it went. booked this trip ahead of time for a king room and was advised they only had a double available, but we could switch to a king the next day. Extremely disappointed as we booked ahead of time for a king room. this was a note of more bad things to come. A bit of salvation came from the concierge service team who tried to help the large line of people trying to check in/out. too bad the concierge team doesn't have the same access as the front desk team. The double room beds were extremely uncomfortable. slept terribly. Breakfast at the buffet morning buffet was the highlight of the first 24 hours. Kudos to the entire service team there especially the cook at the omelet station. the beach, picture perfect, warm water and the just right mix of waves and sand. Pools at this resort were plenty, like everywhere!!!, kudos to the bartenders at the swim up bar. poolside eats? none existing, help yourself from the buffet and bring it poolside, not a huge deal but out of the way. The burgers rocked. nighttime eats there was a choice of a few different upscale restaurants, none of which were any good. stick to the buffet. getting around the resort was ok, the concierge was able to actually able to tell you what was on the resort map. Question, why a map with no details to what's on it? IGH keep it up, not doing yourself any good here. 24 Hour Coffee and Cafe....yippee!!!!! Noting the 2 burgers bars down poolside were both closed during our trip. multiple bars around. The resort is family oriented but does have an adult only area, but we never got a chance to check to out. Fairly sure we won't be back as there are many other choices in Cancun. read more

We had a great stay at Iberostar Cancun. We were part of a wedding group (wedding was off site, not part of resort). We enjoyed our cabana for pool time. We didn't try too many of the restaurants but I want to highlight, Santiago who worked during the breaks fast buffet service. He had excellent service and always made sure l had a cappuccino in the morning. We also really liked the little food truck trailer set up near the pool/beach area. I loved the quesadillas. Watch out for the birds. They will come after you and your left overs. The access to the beach is really nice but proceed with caution in the water. The current was very strong even if you're only a few steps into the water. Very beautiful blue waters to enjoy. read more

Visited here with my toddler and had a great experience. I'm always weary about all inclusive buffet food; it tends to be subpar. Luckily, the buffet food here was actually good! I always found something that I enjoyed. The kids' pool area is great for younger kids, such as toddlers, since the water is shallow. Kids can stand and walk around freely. Adults can also accompany them on one of the 4 slides, which is so nice. I've stayed at resorts where adults are not allowed on the kids' slides, which made them unusable for my son at that age. So this was a great experience! My son could play in the pool area all day if I let him. The ocean water is not as warm or calm as further down in riviera maya, however still pleasant enough for us to enjoy. Red flags are up daily indicating they do not recommend swimming, but most people still swim. We felt safe enough to swim in the ocean and enjoyed it. Service is kinda at most areas and resort feels very clean; they are constantly cleaning! Nightly entertainment was great as well. We particularly enjoyed the live saxophonist and live singer. The highlight of the trip though was the foam party. This was the first foam party I've experienced, and it was nothing short of epic! Of course my son was thrilled with the excessive amount of bubbles! The staff at the foam party did a great job of making it such a fun experience. They danced in sync to all the songs while the saxophonist played along to the beats. It was an unforgettable experience and would return just for that again! read more

My friends and I had a great time at Iberostar Cancun celebrating my friend's 30th birthday. Its located in the Hotel Zone and a quick ride to and from the airport. I believe I paid around $500 for 3 nights and it was certainly worth the price. The food and drinks weren't amazing but decent for an all-inclusive experience. Getting dinner reservations for their restaurants was annoying and they were all fully booked out by the time I checked-in. Fortunately, they do have a few restaurants that are walk-in and are easy to get into for dinner. I had the hotel room that was oceanside and on a high floor and it was really nice. The biggest headache was the elevator. They only had two functional elevators so it would take me around 10 minutes to get down each time. My friends were upgraded to an oceanside villa with a swimout pool which was awesome. It was really nice to have that privacy and easy access to the beach. The spa at the hotel was overpriced, but I was able to get a free massage by participating in a timeshare presentation. This is where they showed me which rooms the "members" stay in and they proceeded to show me the villa my friends are staying in without being a member! Other than the timeshare presentation, the hotel experience was great and I would highly recommend it for the price point. read more

Where do I start? The property looks beautiful from the outside, but looks do decieve. The age of the rooms tells you what you need to know, old stained and cracked floors with hair. I immediately had to call someone in to come back and clean the room I had already waited 4 hours for. Started in the buffet where I ended up burned due to negligence. The medical staff came to assist and had no type of butn cream or anything to help. I was told I had to pay out of pocket for separate medical help including some burn cream. They didn't even have a badic first aid kit that provided some, which they usually do. Not sure how room service operates but the things you place outside of your room to be picked up (food, cups, ect) can sit outside your door for a least 24 hours. Pretty much everything closes outside at 6pm while its still bright and early then the pools at 8 pm. Weekends included. So imagine you come on vacation wanting to hang around late night. You wont be doing that here. At this time, you would think you'd get to experience the promised 5 restaurants and buffet but no. 2 restaurants were closed/under construction. 2 were closed the entirety of the saturday I was there. Buffet food was nasty and repetitive so with everything closed, your options were limited. With such limited, that means a hugh volume of people trying to get into and eat at the other 2 restaurants and people getting turned away because there is no seating. Yes, you can take an uber and each at a nearby restaurant but why would you be paying at least $500 a night to stay somewhere that is supposed to have these things and they not be available when you get there? The entertainment was mediocre at best. I think they have better entertainment on carnival cruises honestly. Huge theater and stage for 4 people in costumes to do a few songs and minimal dancing. Clearly room for full productions to be taking place. Seaweed season is in so the beach was pretty much inaccessible aside from the one day it cleared up. Overall, I would probably never go back. Im young, I stay up late and I like to eat good food. This is more people who live a boring life, have children that go to sleep at 6pm and possibly people who have retired and don't expect much. For the proce I paid, I really wasted my money and Im not happy about it. I get everyone's experience is different but yea, no. If you want to have actual fun, be somewhere nice with great food and get the biggest bang for your buck, I would really recommend staying somewhere else. read more

The good: -The property was clean. -Some of the staff were nice. The not so good: -Some of the staff acted like people were in their way on walk ways and through the buffet. -The rooms were ok but lamps didn't work even after they came to fix it. The shower didn't have a door and the wall was only half the length of the shower so we stood on soaking wet towels the whole time. It was even leaking outside the bathroom into the vanity area. We brought this to their attention and they did nothing. The bad: -The hotel said they base the open hours of the restaurants on hotel capacity. The restaurants were open from 6:30-9:30pm with alternating days. The only restaurant that took reservations was the Japanese restaurant which was already booked for the 4 days we were there. We weren't able to eat at any of the restaurants except the buffet. This was so disappointing. There were 28 in our whole group and not one couple could get into any restaurants except the buffet. -The buffet food was terrible. You could tell some of the food was reused from the day before. Most things lacked any seasoning. Most of the meat dishes were tough and chewy. -We didn't get our promised resort credit. -One couple in our group walked into a filthy room. They had to swap rooms. -Two others in our group booked king size rooms but the hotel ran out of kings so they put them in Queens. They had to swap rooms after a couple of days. They didn't seem very concerned about correcting any issues. I don't think they can make it "right", now. Especially since they didn't make it right when we were already there. read more

I just wrote my review for Coral Level, but I wanted to give a little honorable mention to the larger end of the resort. After spending way too much money on what was meant to be a luxurious stay at Coral, I would easily rather have been on this side of the resort. Breakfast buffet on this end of the resort is massive. They had fresh crêpes, nice eggs, and an excellent juice bar. It's larger, more turnover, way better breakfast buffet. The pools are 10 times larger, and I didn't really mind the kids - there didn't seem to be an overwhelming amount of them. The grill was less than mediocre. The Japanese hibachi restaurant had its good moments, but overall was a big miss. The Italian restaurant left a lot to be desired (the rum baba left me in shock, and not in a good way). The few opportunities where I had Mexican food, it was good. I wish they would capitalize on this. Are we the only guests that wanted to eat Mexican food in Mexico? I'm still trying to understand why it was primarily American and "global" cuisine. read more

I ended up leaving after 3 days for the following reasons: Amenities not provided (sun hat was available on my first trip, this time I was told they were out of stock and I would have to purchase one from their on-site shop which was very expensive) Food was subpar (was excellent the first stay but this time the hot items were cold and the cold items were warm) Outside lounge seating in the shade only for added price (I was told I couldn't sit by the pool in the shade unless I paid extra) Hallways to rooms were dingy and walls were dirty, open paint cans and very strong smell of paint thinner/turpentine I was approached during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and when asking for the location of an ATM by staff who pressured me to attend a 90-minute presentation in order to become a member (very uncomfortable, especially when paying this much for a room already) Front desk staff at check in was dismissive and made me feel as though I was not valued as a guest The AC fan was not cooling and I put in a request to have it looked at. The request was marked as resolved but there was barely any air movement in the room making it very uncomfortable to sleep. None of these issues were had on my first visit and I was really looking forward to another wonderful experience but it was so disappointing I chose to leave 3 days early. read more

Last summer, I spent a fun week at the Iberostar Selection All Inclusive Resort in Cancun Mexico. I booked through a JetBlue package, so the airline made it easy to book the vacation. The resort was massive; it had several pools, restaurants, bars, auditoriums, and recreational rooms (ie: game room with a pool table). This was nice because it gave my friend and I a lot to do, so we never got bored. The resort had different daily events that took place such as Trivia, Salsa Dancing, Magic Shows, and other live performances. Every one of them were very fun to participate in. The staff especially knew how to rile up the crowd and make it really entertaining! Service Rate 10/10. The room I stayed in was clean, relatively big, and had a beautiful ocean front view. The overall hotel was clean, however some parts of it were outdated (ie: the slow elevators), but it was still well maintained. Resort Establishment Rate 7.5/10. The resort had different restaurants from Italian, Steakhouse, Mexican, Japanese, and American. They also had breakfast and dinner buffets, and a cute little cafe with pastries and coffee. The food tasted average, nothing special, but that's understandable considering this is an all inclusive resort. That said, the unlimited drinks/open bars were the best part of the resort. The drinks were good, while others tasted subpar. Food rate 6/10. In terms of price, this is perfect for anyone who wants to vacation on a budget since everything is included and the overall cost wasn't too expensive depending on the flight/room/time you go (I went in May). We just vacationed here for 5 days for a friend's wedding. We were not impressed with the overall resort. It seemed to be run down and in need of some renovations and more food options. Our room was dirty, only had 2 working outlets, and no overhead lights. The elevators are extremely slow. They only really have one option for breakfast and lunch each day-buffet. I want to go back! Two of my friends and I visited in February and had a wonderful time. We stayed in one of the rooms that had a perfect view of the ocean and of the pools. The staff throughout the whole stay were incredible including the front desk, housekeeping, bartenders and servers. The buffet was the go to breakfast spot although there were a couple other options on the property. We ate at all of the specialty restaurants for dinner and had no complaints about any of them. The property was clean and well maintained. The only complaint I had was some of the entertainment was not that great. They did not always start on time and it was just a little boring compared to other resorts I have visited. To be honest, the bartenders were my favorite and made me want to go back in a heartbeat! This place has beautiful views (depending on where your room is), but it is definitely at the bottom of all inclusive hotels I've visited in Cancun. On the first night, we made reservations at one of the restaurants called American Bistro. The food was okay. I later learned that it was definitely better than the buffet. We wanted to make reservations for some of the other restaurants, but we kept waiting until the day of and they were booked. The buffet is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The breakfast options have not been great for me. I don't eat diary, egg or meat. But I do eat fish. So the breakfast options are sparse. I've been eating hash browns, tomatoes, guacamole, nuts and olives for breakfast. There's usually a fish option at either lunch or dinner. The salad bar has cold tofu, but there's no dishes with vegan proteins. The good thing is they have plant based milks (almond and soy), a salad bar, and fruit. Sometimes, they have vegan dessert options. One night they had coconut flan, which was not bad. Overall, the food is mediocre at best. As a coffee enthusiast, I found the coffee and the cafe quite disappointing. It breaks my heart. I ordered an iced caramel latte with almond milk. Tell me why this lady made my drink with some espresso already brewed!? The disrespect. The facilities are okay. The gym is quite small and they're not limiting the number of people, so it can get crowded. They take your temperature and give you hand sanitizer and a towel when you come in. They also have water available and sanitizing spray and towels to wipe off the equipment. The rooms need some upgrades. They do have central air, which is great. Room service and housekeeping are daily. You can tell it's an old facility. For instance, the elevators don't have air conditioning...the toilet in our room runs water after flushing it. The shower needs an update and the bathroom counters are worn down. If you don't spend a lot of time in the room, you'll be fine and maybe won't notice. There's activities everyday, but a lot of them are very fitness oriented. Of course, I like this lol but not everyone is trying to get a workout in. The alcohol is watered down--my friend took three shots and had two cocktails before she felt tipsy. There's higher quality alcohol, but it's actually not included. I wanted a shot of premium reposado tequila, but I had to pay $20 USD for that shot. I haven't tried the spa (and probably won't). One thing I do like about this hotel is the way it smells when you come in. It smells so good! But I wouldn't pay to stay here again. There's better all inclusive resorts in Cancun. read more

After being asked many times, they did not give wash rags in our room. Had to go to front desk at least 10 times because room cards would not work. NOT anyone's fault but red flags on beach every day we have been here. Beach is close and infinity pool is nice. Staff is friendly. No, my Summer Body was not ready for me but I've been ready! And living it up beachside and poolside at Iberostar Selection Cancun reminded me that Summer is gon get whatevers in this bikini! I mean, how can you be self-conscious in Cancun?! Not this bikini babe! To celebrate my BFFs 30th birthday, she opted for the beautiful beaches of Cancun to relax upon. Having been vaccinated, I finally gathered the courage to get on a plane after a year+! As a frequent traveler, I've truly missed it, but happy to have waited until I was vaccinated and able to prep in advance. So when she told me we were staying at Iberostar, and in a swim-up villa to be more specific - OH BABY, I was thereeee! Upon entrance, Iberostar really sticks out. With its Mayan-like-shaped building, you can tell how grand it is from the drive up!! From the moment we walked up, it was a 5-star service! We were greeted, our bags sanitized, contactless temperature taken and taken to our room and when we walked into the lobby - PHEW! Gorgeous! The staff was SO friendly, so chatty, and kind, the check-in process was about 30-min it seems, but it went by smoothly thanks to the sweethearts at the counter. Let's get to the room: LISTEN. Maybe all this traveling on a dime is not all it's chalked up to be, LOL. I usually stay in nice spots, but not NICE spots because I'm cheap LOL but with my girls, of course, we had to live it up! Our swim-up room was beautiful! We opened our sliding door and waded right out to the beautiful pool we shared with 2-3 rooms next door, but still had our own level of privacy where we could lounge and look upon the beach. Our room was spacious and in an amazing location, I couldn't have chosen a better room! Iberostar being all-inclusive was superrrr clutch. It's always great to not have to worry about pulling out your card to pay or figuring out where to go for dinner because it's all included! Although never truly "top shelf", I enjoyed the unlimited Dos Equis, the champagne at brunch (some don't know it's available!), and the amazing Margarita with Tajin on the rim that I enjoyed at the fabulous swim-up bar! I didn't get to explore too many restaurants but the Buffet was my favorite surprisingly! Breakfast there was amazing every day, filled with such a great variety of options and I was excited to go back each morning. I really could go on forever because I truly enjoyed our stay here! The staff was the highlight - everyone was so friendly and I appreciated the range of activities they had mapped out for us everyday. A big shoutout to Pedro, Jaime, Erich and Adrian for hosting all of the crazy games. The food at the buffet was very average (definitely recommend making reservations at the restaurants ahead of time if possible). Drinks were good and the bar was well stocked. Beautiful resort, HOWEVER, it is absolutely ridiculous the wait time to check in when flying from out of country. It's already humid, hot and folks are irritable. We waited 3hrs for our room to be cleaned. In that time, we ate and explored but couldn't do much else due to having our book bags and other items (not packed in suitcase). In that time, so many vendors approach you with their sales pitch. In addition, the markup on sunscreen was absolutely egregious....$38-52 for a 160z bottle. Fantastic all inclusive resort! The staff is incredible! The buffet is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and is hands down the best buffet I've ever had, and I'm a buffet freak! The corner king ocean view suite is amazing and there are multiple pools, a swim up bar, and 5 restaurants. There are bars all over the property, a food truck, live music, and the list of amenities goes on and on! There are waves here. The ocean is gorgeous but it's a workout getting in those waves. My wife and I got tossed around like rag dolls a couple of times much to the joy of onlookers! We travel a great deal and this has been one of our best trips! read more

We chose this resort due to the golf course and being further away from the last wave of spring breakers. Overall our stay here was great. They have everything you need - spa (overpriced but amazing massages and facials and highly recommend even though it's out of pocket), golf (best food and if your lucky will spot a crocodile on the course) pools, private beachside access with lounge chairs, multiple restaurants, activities (can be easily found on the app), a little shop for necessities (overpriced but expected) and 98% of their staff is super friendly and hardworking. I'd give it 5 stars but there were a couple things that I was not a fan of... 1. After a long flight, booking restaurant reservations was the last thing on my mind and very overwhelming. I also didn't like how much the "breakfast" timeshare was being pushed. 2. The bathroom/toilet could use a real door. 3. Our room keys had to be reactivated 3 out of the 5 days we stayed. This wouldn't be an issue if all the elevators worked. 3/5 days we were there only 1 worked and the exit stairs don't take you to the floor with all the restaurants. 4. Water is limited... asking for water felt like a nuisance. They supply two glass (easily shattered) water bottles in the room and it's up to you to refill in the hallway that (only a rocket scientist would be able to figure out on how to dispense them). read more

The management in the entire resort has drastically depleted. Being a club member, you would assume that you would receive special privileges and attention. The customer service was not helpful to say the least. I am suppose to enjoy my stay and feel relaxed however, it was two arguments I had to engage with the representatives of the resort when I in the lobby. The demeanors that the representatives were giving my family and I was not delightful. They were over charged, they were disorganized. Checkout took 30 min! Not friendly whatsoever. At restaurants we had to partially call a server over to assist. At reception asked for customer service number and they did not want to provide, instead they told me that they were the managers and only they could help. I don't want to refer any family or friends here anymore. For the amount of money that is paid for 7 days plus membership fees and amount of issues encountered you are better off going elsewhere. read more

This is the second iberostar that we've been to and I can attest that it is better than the Iberostar Maya. I wish I could have given it 4 stars but there was just one too many negative things. Location: I love that the resort is not gated or far off the road-gives you easy access to walking and leaving when you want. General cleanliness/appearance: stunning. I loved the lobby, the bar in the lobby and most of the grounds. However there are a lot of cups/garbage laying around that stayed put sometimes overnight. They were painting a lot around the resort. Stairs, walkways, gates, walls... initially I thought great upkeep but we could not get away from the horrible and potent chemical smell. We were chatting with others at the pool about it and wondering why they didn't do the painting at pool close and why they were doing these things in the prime of the pool hours. Room: The Air conditioning was great. We didn't experience the wind sound like I heard we might. We had ocean view and it was good. We could see the ocean and the pool area. The room was cleaned everyday basically before 12 and that was AWESOME. They did a spectacular job cleaning. You're given glass water bottles which were great but ours fell and shattered all over the room (I was sober I promise), and they're very heavy but I appreciate the sustainability. There's a safe in the room as well. However, they didn't replace the robes or wash cloths after the first day. Also, right next to the toilet was an electrical area that was WIDE open and not safe for a toddler (pictured). There were also little ants ALL OVER our room. I even brought bug spray and it still wasn't working. Anytime I took clothes out of the drawer, there was an ant or 2 on there that had to be shaken out. Anytime I looked at the floor/desk/counters really well, I'd spot a bug. And then multiple times my daughter would point them out in her bed. (She's only 2.5). Pools: okay. Amazing concept of having MANY pools. There's probably 10 pools in addition to the main/toddler area. All are separated by walkways and are perfect for kids. However, they were all FREEZING. Very cold, very difficult for myself and my 2.5 yo to enjoy. The toddler area was even colder. She refused to go past her knees. All the kids were in the hot tub which that temp was what you'd expect the regular pool to be. It wasn't "hot," at all. I also saw reviews that you have to get there early to reserve a spot. I think as long as you're there before 9:30, you're good. The towel sitch was ridiculous. One location to get towels and it's on the other end of the pool and you have to return them to only that spot later. That's a pain with kids. There's also ZERO bathrooms at the pool. Selection/coral: we stayed in the selection side and peeked at the coral side. Coral side seemed nice! But I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything by being on the lower end of the resort. Nightlife: for adults maybe this is perfect but for kids, there schedule blows. They had a magic show at 9:45 pm, as well as a Freida show at 9:45pm. Our daughter would have LOVED to see these, but way past her bedtime. We did love the live music by the bar each night! My daughter danced her little heart out. Kids things: despite the nightlife not being adaptive for kids, the kids club offered fun things like a park to use; face painting, dancing, a piñata one night. But most of these things were all around 8pm which made things tough. It was great though for bigger kids. It did seem like their kids camp for 4-12yo was amazing. They were very active with swimming, play, crafts, lunches, etc. Food: about standard if not a point or 2 higher than other resorts like dreams/secrets. Their buffet was awesome. Hibachi was fantastic. The Italian restaurant, the Mexican was meh. Very small Mexican menu. The American bistro: very good blooming onion and kids Mac n cheese. Beach: gorgeous. Plenty of seating. Service: fantastic. Biggest flaws: #1: there are no bathrooms outside. Literally zero. If you're at the beach/at the pool, you need to walk all the way through the very large pool area, through the lobby, through the bar, to get to a bathroom. This makes it super difficult for pregnant women (me) and those drinking lol. #2: the bugs in our room were horrible. That was unacceptable. #3: the pool being cold was pretty miserable. Made pool time way less fun. #4: the chemical smell isn't appropriate or safe for anybody to spend a day inhaling. All in all would I recommend or come back? We had a great time, we really did. But we made the best of some of the crappier aspects ourselves. If I had to choose to come back here or try something different, I would try something different. So, unfortunately not. Just got back from my first international trip since Covid and it went smoothly. I have been going to Iberostars for well over ten years and never had an issue. You could tell there were less people due to Covid which I loved. No issues finding spots at the pool or beach. Covid - rules were enforced and masks were to be worn at all common areas. Some times people would get away with not wearing one ordering a drink but most of the time they were told they had to go and get a mask. They sanitized our luggage the second we got there and seemed to be extra cautious of sanitizing tables and surfaces. Food and drink - all of you must be food snobs because the food isn't that bad. You're at an all inclusive resort with buffets, what do you expect. I found there to be something new almost every time we ate lunch. A tip is to make your reservations via email a week before you go to get into restaurants. The drinks seemed a tad off but we made it work. Also always ask for the top shelf liquor. Entertainment - they have nightly shows that the star friends put on and they are great. They are all such hard workers and do their best to get everybody to participate when they went. Spent a week here at the beginning of the month with 2 friends. For the price we paid, I'm not sure I expected much more or less. It was good! You can tell they are slowly but surely making updates where they are needed. Our room was on the 6th floor. We didn't have a balcony but we did face right onto the water with no one below us (meaning no loud pool/bar noise), so it worked out for the best. Other rooms we visited here were upgraded with different furniture than ours. The food at the buffet was good. There was lot's of variety and different cuisines. Certainly by day 7, I was ready to come home and eat something home cooked but isn't that how it always is at these places? There were a few a la carte restaurants: Mexican, America, Hibachi were the ones we attended. They were good - needed to make a reservation in advance. I had a massage on the beach which was nice. I wish I had booked it inside only because there was a lot of noise from the pool/restaurants/beach during the 50 minutes. I can't say enough good things about the kind staff across the resort. Very kind, helpful, and always smiling. In terms of covid restrictions, masks were worn when not at your seat in areas we ate as well as in the lobby/elevator. It really just felt normal and safe! Would I return? To this resort probably not - simply because I feel like I've been there done that here and would love to explore other things Cancun has to offer. read more

My week long stay at Iberostar was not pleasant. Before going on with my list of gripes, I will say that their COVID protocol was pretty good; employees wore masks, they made you sanitize your hands before check in and at the buffet 90% of the time, signs posted, hand sanitizer readily available. And now the unpleasantries: - Took an hour to get my bags after I checked in. They held them in front of the resort to sanitize after I arrived and took a long time to bring them to the room. - On at least 3 of the nights, incredibly loud drums and/or music blared from the theater area until midnight or later. This is an issue if you are staying on the south side of the resort as that wing is next to the theater. We had friends on the north wing that did not have this issue. - Unstable air conditioner: room was warm when I arrived so I turned it down the coolest setting and left for a few hours. When I returned, the room still hadn't cooled. Not to mention the AC was super loud. - For a Master Suite, it was very outdated - I felt like I was staying in a motel. It did not feel clean. We had friends staying in a basic room and master suite in the north wing with rooms that were more up to date. The - Elevators broke twice during my 5 day stay and took hours to repair. Really would have sucked if you were staying on the 8th floor. - Difficult to make dinner reservations at the restaurants, either due to people making multiple reservations or the restaurant being understaffed. On my first day, I wasn't able to secure a dinner reservation until day 3. And when I went to that reservation, the restaurant was half empty. - Jacuzzi temperature variable. They are not hot tubs, they were either same temperature as the pool or slightly warmer depending on the day. On a side note, my friend who had her wedding here was not happy with the wedding coordinator at the hotel. If you are considering getting married here, there is no bridal changing area - you should just get ready in your room. The bride had many gripes about the wedding planning at Iberostar. We spent 5 days on this resort and completely enjoyed ourselves. It's a smaller resort but we appreciated that. The staff was helpful and very friendly. The pools were clean and so close to food and restrooms. The beach was nice and not too busy and just walking distance from the resort. The food was my least favorite part of the trip. Sadly. It was hard to get reservations for restaurants and frankly the only place we actually enjoyed was the hibachi. Expect cheep American food at most places, hotdogs, burgers and such. It will fill you up but you won't be writing home about it. Overall it was a nice affordable trip. We would go again. And lastly, spend the $20 and rent a poolside cabana! read more

The room I got was $462 per night. We went in the end of April and it was still pretty windy and kind of stormy. The room was kind of gross/old/ugly more than I thought it would be. The door of our room was kind of stuck and wouldn't close and open easily. The shower is only half separated from the toilet and it's cramped in there. The hot water is not hot but warm. Their "partial ocean view" actually means obstructed ocean view (with the roof of part of the hotel showing). The food was pretty sub-par. Tasted kind of bland. The salsas were all too spicy. Even though they had options for gluten free, I had to wait like 20 minutes for them to make it and it wasn't great tasting. Another thing that bothered me was their service. The employees have a rudeness that is common in developing countries. I didn't expect it here due to it being a resort. There are a lot of entitled and rude white guests. The beach along the hotel was covered in seaweed the whole time (Fri-Mon). They didn't clean it up. They do have an affiliated photography service in the lobby. The pictures they took of my family were okay but they charged $20 per picture. They do not have shuttle services. read more

Do not recommend. I checked in and their receptionist Jesus and supervisor Adriana were very rude, unhelpful and condescending. The check in staff was not willing to help out. We arrived on a Monday and had a really difficult time checking in. We inquired about having an additional person stay a night and the hotel staff pulled out the calculator treating us as if it was too expensive for us to afford it when I had already said I would pay for it. We told him we would pay for it and he said "But it's gonna be this much $$$" in a really rude tone. We then went to the lobby at sat for ten minutes to figure out if our friend would stay due to the way they treated us and Jesus said they would kick her out. Minutes later the security showed up and we left the hotel all together because we were so upset. We came back and then asked to speak to the supervisor who also treated us very rude and she was very condescending. As a result, we went to guest services. Mario, began talking to Adriana in Spanish in front of me which I understand and speak. He told her that it was not ok the way they kicked our friend out from the lobby and that it was rude. She began to make excuses and talk poorly about me and my family. To be honest, she severely lacks supervisor skills and should take some classes. In addition to all of this, the staff is doing the bare minimum for guest experience. All the bartenders were pouring the cheapest alcohol you could find. They advertised having Don Julio buy I never saw it. They would also ignore you at the pool bar or not serve you at all. I spoke to the guest at the hotel and everyone also felt like the bartenders and food staff were not friendly nor accommodating. Everything was a "no". In terms of amenities : I tried to make reservations for dinner. They were fully booked until Thursday. That was very unfortunate considering that we were leaving Thursday. The hotel is overbooking guest and not providing a full experience included in the cost. They only have one buffet and the food is not good. We got reservations at one place last minute and the food portions were so embarrassing. I will say that Mario from guest services did help us find two restaurants to eat at and got us reservations after we told him we had more family coming to stay and that I would have them cancel. To be completely honest, the way the hotel staff treated us and the amenities and services provided ate not worth the amount of money I paid. All guest, at the hotel were very upset about the bare minimum effort the hotel was making. I will never stay at a iberostar hotel again. We checked out early due to the entire experience. There are much better hotels in Cancun who offer a better price and customer service. read more

What an exceedingly mediocre resort. Perhaps even mediocre is a compliment. This was my 4th all-inclusive experience and by far my worst. I'll start at the beginning - we checked in and almost immediately are directed to the concierge who wants us to attend an info session. Pretty standard, but he starts guilting us that he has a wife and kids and needs the commission. I feel for him, but not good vibes to start the vacation strong. We were in a villa, room was average. I'm glad I wasn't in a tower though, there is only one working elevator bank to get to and from those rooms and always long lines. Ordered room service the first night - pizza and hummus. Terrible. Like essentially microwaved cheesy dough with a few tomatoes on it. Small portions too. On the second night I woke up to find my husband battling a flying cockroach in our room. Understandable I suppose being on the ground floor perhaps? I called the front desk and they initially told me it would be 4 hours before they could send someone but then agreed to send someone right away. Food options are minimal outside of buffet. The buffet is your only option for breakfast and lunch, theres no breakfast room service option. For lunch it doesn't open until 1230pm! Not kid friendly. Outside of that there is a pool side cafe that offers multiple pork dishes, few vegetarian friendly items. Pool side drink and food service is exceedingly slow and more than once I canceled items. For dinner at any of the restaurants you need a reservation. On arrival we were told this but then also told that no reservations were available. So what, buffet for breakfast lunch and dinner? After complaining we were able to try the Japanese restaurant on the second night (not bad), the Italian on the third night (had to wait outside the restaurant for a cancellation and even then were split from our group- food was cold and bad) and the Mexican on the last night (best of the options). Honestly the buffet food was probably better than any of the restaurants. And despite being told that the restaurants had no availability, they all looked half empty. What got to me most is that no one really cared. We told them we didnt have reservations for the restaurants and they just shrugged. We told them about the cockroach and they shrugged. No one tried to make anything better or help. On our way out my husband presented a coupon for the spa treatment I had had and they told him they couldn't honor it because it needed to be presented to the spa. When he insisted they try, they told him they would call security on him. Just not hospitable. Won't be going back. read more

Had the ocean side swimout Villa. View was amazing! Room was clean and comfortable. Pool was comfortable. Pool does connect to your next three neighbors but made friends and it wasn't a problem. You literally walk from your room onto your patio and into the pool or around the edge of the pool and into this beautiful spacious communal patio that is right on the sand. Love, love, loved it. They had trivia night in the theater followed by a show featuring music and outfits from the various regions around Mexico. That was really neat. Every night they had something going on in the main pool area like a small souvenir market and a live mariachi band. Remember to haggle at the market! They accept USD, pesos and some accept credit cards. They also have a stand at the main pool where you can make a Dressel Diver reservation and scuba dive. They transport you from your hotel to the launch site at Iberostar Cozumel. SO WORTH IT. (See review for Dressel Divers Cozumel) However! The food really leaves something to be desired. The buffet was pretty good, large selection. The Mexican restaurant took a couple bites and that was it. The Japanese hibachi there is no menu options, it is a set menu and the food was ok. Would be nice if there was some kind of dipping sauce. Felt the drinks were a little light on the alcohol. First night there, left the doors cracked open to the private patio/ pool and woke up at 0530 to a stranger in the room next to the bed. Was not pleased for obvious reasons. He claimed he was security but was not wearing their uniform or carrying their equipment, just something similar. Had a watch go missing from the table by the doors. Security was contacted but not much they could do besides increase security patrols and the doors were no longer left open. Last night there was a physical altercation between our neighbors around midnight complete with hearing the woman be hit and slamming doors. Security came and separated them for the night. Ultimately I would try another resort next time I'm in the area. read more

Beautiful property. We booked the presidential suite and we're looking for a great week away. The reservation was messed up from the start. We booked for 4 adults and 3 kids. Two days before we arrive they reconfirmed 2 adults and 1 child and 2 babies. Not sure what happened with the other 2 adults. After 2 days of phone calls with no one to answer. we decided maybe we could fix it in person. But sadly no. When we arrived David at the desk was unable to correct it or get anyone above him to come to the lobby. After an hour I paid the higher fee just to get in the room. But the room was fantastic. 3000 sq ft. Large nicely decorated. But when we started to shower there was no NO WATER. What???? No water on the 9th floor. There is one AC unit each for the 2 bedrooms and 1 unit for the common area. One side the AC didn't work at all. So we have finally been in the room for an hour and one side is hot and neither have water. Call the desk and no response. After a while I go downstairs and try to get the hotel manager to talk to. No luck. Finally Miguel the assistant to someone tried to help. Rallied the troops and the found a water pump not working and tried to repair the A/C. Remember this is the Presidential Suite. It seems like there is a lack of maintenance on everything. Then we open the refrigerator and it has a glass partially full of water frozen in the freezer missed by housekeeping. But the bottom drawer of the freezer is frozen in place. Again housekeeping missed it. So within the first 2 hours at the property they have messed up our reservation, put us in a room that had no water, 1 AC unit not working correctly. So on Wednesday they worked on the AC and water. Neither one was fixed. On Thursday they worked on the AC and the water. We did get some hot water part of the day. So progress no change on the AC. Again remember this is the best room in the property. The presidential suite. On Saturday the water was hot and had full pressure. Today they were kind enough to tell me that the two rooms were using different thermostats and I was too STUPID to know how to turn the unit to Auto. But it was fixed because they turned it to auto. Now that means the other 4 days their own staff was to STUPID to know how to set it also. But the Saturday crew was the smartest of all and now it was fixed. Sorry it was not fixed and there was still a 10 degree difference in the two rooms in the same suite. So Miguel tried his best to correct the problems but the building needs maintenance that couldn't be preformed today. If you interested in good service and we'll maintained property this is not the place for you. And the bad thing is I ask for the manager the first day and never has the manager reached out to me. BE WARNED, this hotel will SCAM YOU! My booking included $400 in resort credit to enjoy at the hotel. Dharina checked us in and I asked about the resort credit and how it could be used. Dharina said it could be used in the spa, or for upgrades at dinner. After checking in we were directed to concierge Melissa who asked if we wanted to book some spa services or make dinner reservations. I told Melissa I'd booked in the app when I had time, but I would definitely spend my $400 credit. The next day I looked at the servies and prices for the spa in the app. Knowing I had $400 to spend I selected an 80 minute massage for my party. When we got to the spa the lady there asked how we would be paying. I told her we had $400 in resort credits and would pay for any overages. She said she would charge it our room and to have the credits applied when we checked out. She then asked if I had any coupons. I told her no. The next morning we went to check out. Once again we were waited on by Dharina. She started processing the check out and said, ok, you have spa services totaling $436.20. I told her to please apply the $400 resort credit. She said, you can't use the full amount, that it's not a credit, it's a coupon. WHAT? My booking says $400 resort credit, not coupons. So I asked to speak to a manager. Another Melissa comes out from the back and I ask if she's the manager. She says she's over the clerks. I ask if she's the hotel manager and she says no. I asked to talk to him/her, and she outright said no. I asked for their name, she said "it's a private name and we're really serious about our privacy here in Mexico, we have privacy laws." Ummm, ok. I could probably Google it, but whatever. I explained in detail and she says, no it's not resort credit, it's $400 in coupons and you can only use one $25 coupon per spa service. What a bunch of bull. It was never explained that way, nobody said anything about coupons. The only mention of coupons was when the spa lady asked if I had one. Concierge Melissa is sitting across from the checkout desk and I turn to her and say, remember when you told me about my $400 to use in the spa? She shrugs her shoulders and plays dumb as a rock, what a joke. Back to fake manager Melissa. I tell her this is a scam and totally unacceptable and I would not be paying for the charges when I was told they were covered by the resort credit. I asked her to work with me, that maybe we can split the difference because I needed to get to the airport. She said, I am working with you and you will pay everything. Ummm, that's not working with your guests at all. I said to fake manager Melissa, you'd have to have 8 spa treatments to use the full $400 credit and she says yes. Again, nobody said anything about this. It's not on my booking, the word coupon is never used. I asked Dharina to print out an itemized bill and she prints me one in Spanish. I asked for it to be printed in English and she said, "oh our computers can't do that." I reminded Diarrhea that when she checked me in just a few days before, they asked me to sign an agreement that was in Spanish and when I asked to have that re-printed in English she was able to do so. She said, "oh no, we can't print anything in English." She is a clearly a liar. I again tell Melissa I will not pay the full amount because they are liars and scamming me. She breaks out her cell phone and says she's calling the Mexican authorities to detain me. Are you freaking kidding me? I should note, the Mexican authorities walk the beaches with assault rifles, so her comment was very scary and threatening. They forced a charge on my credit card and gave me a slip of paper with something handwritten on it. Melissa said without the paper the bell boys will detain you. Sounds like potential assault.ay as well. These women are scammers, this hotel is a scam, not to mention the outdated rooms with stained floors, fake guacamole and disgusting food they are trying to pass off as authentic. BOOK ANY OTHER RESORT HOTEL in Cancun. Skip this place! And you'll have way better food at your local Mexican restaurant in whatever state you call home. read more
