This repair involved not only repairing a large rip, but also unstitching and restitching 16 panels in the skirt and hemming multiple layers of fabric (they moved part of the bottom border to the part of the skirt with the rip to cover it). My skirt had a complicated pattern and was a delicate material, so all of this had to be very carefully and expertly done. My skirt came out looking better than I could have imagined - they are so skillful. The work is very high-quality and at a fair price. Drop-off and pick-up is on Saturdays (limited hours) in downtown Decatur or you can coordinate via text with Barwin to pick up at their home. I'm definitely willing to make the time in my Saturday schedule to go to them because they are that good at what they do. If you need a good tailor, I highly recommend Barwin and Yaser at Morning Star.

When I gave it to her for inspection, she immediately noticed tears in the lining of the zipper that I'd hadn't noticed myself. That's when I knew she had an eagle eye and I was working with an expert. I picked up the skirt exactly 7 days later (for $10 less than I paid at the other shop for a zipper replacement) and the work was so pristine that I almost thought they hadn't gotten to it yet. It's a whole new zipper from top to bottom that looks exactly like the faulty one. This place is the BEES KNEES! I ran into another customer at the shop who assured me they were the best! Cant wait to see what else in my closet needs to be altered.

*review is based on reply to AI find-a-business conversation only*…read more TL;DR: weren't able to do a simple alteration (due to a quality that i noted in the AI chat message sent over to them) that another business had no problem with, BUT they were quick to reply and told me no without having me come in im not sure how simple of alterations they do, but it seems to be simpler than the surrounding businesses' usual. i was requesting a simple side take-in of a polyester dress with mesh overlay (notated in the AI message sent out), but they were unable to do it. for background, i am an intermediate-level DIY seamstress, with a grandmother who runs a sewing/alterations store (a state away which is why i reached out to businesses here). this is a pretty simple alteration, so i was surprised when they said they could not do it. i drove to the closest alterations place that was open, and they had no problem with the dress fabric regarding the take in (i showed the dress before i bothered trying it on to make sure) i am attaching the details yelp provided to the business as well as the conversation. the only additional thing i added to the AI was the part of the side seams with zipper in the back, maybe altering cups (after i responded to them saying that, for the other businesses to see that information) im not sure if this is a review more so on the business or AI feature. i will say- they were quick to reply and did tell me no, rather than having me come in and telling me no or potentially messing up the dress.

Had several things altered that were incredibly overpriced for the alterations but I wanted to support a small, local neighborhood business. When I was trying on a dress, the seamstress said very disparaging comments (and that was the sign that I probably needed to leave but I was under a time crunch). The seamstress mentioned she would change the straps on one of the dresses and that didn't occur. The worst part of the experience is that she literally handed me a bag with all of my items crumpled up. They were not returned on a hanger. They were not steamed or pressed. She simply balled up my nice clothes as if it was dirty laundry after the alterations were completed. It created such a huge inconvenience and I highly recommend you find someone else to do your alterations.
