I had a lot of criteria for my new door to meet - good quality, aesthetically pleasing, mid-century/contemporary design, affordable. HERR was the obvious choice after exhausting the list of local suppliers. Randy was great to work with and provided many options to suit my needs at various price points to be sure I got exactly what I wanted. The level of service was exceptional and something I did not find anywhere else. Other businesses seemed to cater more towards contractors and big business, not willing to take the time to explain products or procedures to a home owner. I felt confident and at ease with my purchase after visiting the HERR showroom. Picking out a new front door was the fun part, but Randy and is crew also did an impeccable job on the installation. Having been built in the 50's the original door was not a normal size in any dimension by modern standards. We opted to replace the door and jamb with a standard size (though custom sizing was available) and I was nervous about how the new smaller door might look/function. Randy and his crew did such a great job with the new jamb and trim that you would never know that the door size had been changed. The crew was polite and kept the job site very tidy. They spent extra time ensuring that everything was installed to perfection...no rush jobs here. From start to finish this company was a pleasure to work with! They did such a great job that I'm now looking into having them replace some of my windows too.

Randy took the time to discuss all the details that would go into designing the door. He responded promptly to any questions I had by email. And when a minor issue arose regarding the weather stripping around our door, he came quickly to our home to make the necessary adjustments. Our door looks fantastic and we have received many compliments!

This is one of very few contractors I've had working for me, where I actually felt like I got more than I paid for. I believe that you may find cheaper contractors, but I doubt you'll ever find a contractor that will give you better value for you dollar... as the saying goes... if you think it's expensive to hire a professional, just try hiring an amateur. Lonnie's experience shines through.

In June 2012, we discovered that the roof of our garage, which also served as a deck off of the…read moresecond floor of our house, was leaking. A lot. We needed the damage assessed and repaired ASAP. Many of the contractors we contacted never got back to us; two booked appointments to come out and assess the damage but no-showed; and one commercial roofer looked at it and said it wasn't worth his time (but hey, at least he showed up). Paul showed up for his meeting with us on time, and prepared with the tools necessary to provide us with an estimate. Paul carefully examined the interior (garage) and exterior of our home, and provided us with an estimate, a workplan and schedule, and some advise on what we could expect. His professionalism, honesty, and knowledge of his craft gave us comfort as we waited through weather delays; and helped calm our anxiety when the project scope increased substantially. He had ready access to tradespeople and was able to see the project through to completion within the schedule we'd discussed initially, and within the revised budget. Since then, I have had Paul out to repair some siding that was damaged over the winter, and continue to be impressed with the quality of his work, his honesty, and how easy he makes it to work with him. He's proven to me that he can handle a magnitude of projects; from the very extensive roof repair last summer to the simple siding fix this spring. I have referred him to friends and coworkers, and will continue to do so.

Of all of the people who worked on our place, the folks from Alf's were among the very best. I do not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. One really nice bit about Alf's... Tidiness. When we were renting in Oliver, our landlord had the roof redone and the guys who did the work were tattooed, thuggish looking men who smoked and swore and talked loudly and, worst of all, left loose nails and shingles all over the property. The folks from Alf's didn't leave a scrap behind, and as a parent I really appreciate that.

He was knowledgable with costs associated with different elements of our projects and made excellent suggestions on areas to improve; while not adding additional costs to the projects. Overall he exceeded our expectations, we love our home and everything about it (we have lived in it for over 1 year now). Service was also exceptional after the home was completed. With every question or concern that we had they responded promptly and professionally to fix everything that needed additional attention - they sent to roofing company to our house twice to check the shingles after a few windstorms. Another added advantage of building with Design Innovations is having the exceptional interior design help from as the designer, Kathy. Kathy was knowledgable, personal, considerate and her style is impeccable. I told her my vision, I went to a few stores, however she came with many options for every aspect of the house that complemented the vision I had (not to mention while in budget). I could not have achieved my vision and would recommend Kathy's input for any interior design project. I wanted a timeless look and she helped me achieve and exceed my expectations.
