Perhaps it was because Floyd (Store Manager) helped us and was an absolute delight to work with, but even another employee who helped us when we picked up the flooring (unfortunately cannot remember his name) was fantastic as well. One of the things I appreciate about this store is its simplicity. In looking for new flooring for our basement, my wife and I visited 5 flooring stores across Long Island. Lumber Liquidators offers the most competitive prices we could find given the quality of the material. We're not talking Gatsby mansion flooring, but if like us you were just looking for quality vinyl for your basement, this place really does the trick. Selection here is modest compared to some warehouse giants like Floors & Decor, but we found exactly what we needed and the price was at least 10% cheaper than we found at Floors & Decor. Better yet, the flooring we wanted was immediately available. We mentioned we weren't going to be buying the foam (for underneath the vinyl) at the store because we found a better price elsewhere, and there was no sales pitch or hesitation. Floyd simply took it off the list. Likewise, there were no hidden fees or no nickel-and-diming. There was an added cost to have the flooring shipped, but we knew we would be able to pick up and drive it home ourselves. Communication with the employees from start to finish was refreshingly positive. Sure enough, pickup was a breeze. We called ahead to let them know we'd be stopping by later that day (they just need an hour's notice to prep, which they told us in advance). When we stopped by, we waited maybe 3 minutes and then had an employee move all the flooring into our car for us. We then drove it home, acclimated the floor to the basement, and our basement contractor installed it beautifully for us. We are in love with the results and saved money in the process! I can't see why we wouldn't return here whether for vinyl or quality hardwood flooring. The price, quality, and service really impressed me for a place that otherwise has a 2.5-star average rating. Even if you decide to get your flooring someplace else, it's worth taking a look here first.

I needed to get the hinges replaced on a noisy inside door of my house (the joys of being a new homeowner), and I got several responses from contractors across Yelp. Andrei's stood out both because it was the lowest price quote, and he had the best reviews of any other respondent. It seemed a little too good to be true, but I figured it was worth taking a chance. I'm glad I did, because Andrei IS too good to be true, and yet he exists. Excellent communication, punctual, thorough and completely self-sufficient, the hinge replacement process started off great. Then, after expertly replacing the hinges, and even sanding a bit at the base of the door where it caused the door to stick when opening and closing, he checked to see how the door opened and closed - the door was now blissfully quiet, but still stuck, and he identified the door latch and plate as needing to be adjusted. Above and beyond! The door works perfectly now, it's literally like a new door. And because the door was to my mother-in-law's bedroom, having Andrei provide this superlative service scored me a few points with her (well, at least for a few hours, until she found something else to grumble about). He also left the space clean, and was very courteous from start to finish. I am so thrilled to have found Andrei, because as a new homeowner, I am discovering fun new surprises in the house that I purchased late last year all the time. We were scheduled for a Saturday, but had to call the Friday before to find out what time. We were informed that it would be around 1-3 PM because the crew wants to do another job before ours. We didn't like that, but there was nothing we could do. We were told the crew would call us an hour before they arrive. We eventually got a call and were told they can't come and want to reschedule for Monday. That's not an option because we do not currently live at the residence and we work during the week. This is why we scheduled a Saturday and we even left the entire day open for them because they didn't know when exactly they would be coming. Then some sketchy guy with an unlisted number called us and said he was referred to us by John (no idea who that is). He said to reschedule the job with Barrys and this guy named Kevin would come and do the job for much cheaper today. He said definitely don't cancel the appointment - just reschedule. It was super weird, but we were desperate. In the end, no one showed up. Still don't know who Kevin or John are, but considering we only contacted one company about the floors, we are guessing someone from Barrys contacted them. This is just a terrible way to run a business.
