But that wasn't the case at VAN NESS I've been trying to eat their cupcakes for a while now. They get sold out rather quickly so one has to go sometime before 3-4pm if you want to have all the flavors. So we walked into this tiny store full of excitement and tried four different flavors of cupcakes (chocolate lava, red velvet, pistachio and chocolate vanilla) and boy o' boy was I pleasantly surprised, they were EPICALLY delicious. They were moist and full of flavor and honestly the best I've had in this country for sure! I totally understand why they are sold out before the store closes and I was so impressed to taste every flavor and their icing was divine. So yes go there, go there tomorrow! While researching from the United States custom birthday cake pastry shops in The Hague I found Perfect Pastry. I sent to Perfect Pastry an email inquiring about the possibility of making a custom birthday cake with a specific layered interior filling, and a custom inscription on the top of the cake, and a card. Nermina responded the very next day with detailed information and a price. Even with a nine hour time difference Nermina was extremely responsive, and detail-oriented. I was also able to request a specific two hour delivery window. The cake arrived at my in-laws' apartment exactly on time. The cake was visually beautiful, and the filling was exactly as I had requested. My wife and her family reported that it was one of the most delicious birthday cakes they had ever enjoyed! The cake was indeed perfect, and so was the experience in terms of inquiring, ordering and executing. Thanks to Nermina and Perfect Pastry for making an international order easy, successful and delicious! I highly recommend Perfect Pastry!

The girls at the counter are incredibly helpful and will take the time explaining what kind of flavours you can expect from which type of cupcake. It's a reasonably small place, so I wouldn't recommend it for groups, but it's very nice to sit inside when you're with a friend. They also have a few tables outside, but in my opinion it felt kind of uncomfortable since you're pretty much sitting in the middle of a street. *They also do delivery! :)

After a struggle convincing my parents, they finally let us go to that bakery to relax. The only things we were getting were one thing of my choice and one for my brother. I picked a Red Velvet Brownie. He picked a "Bueno" (mostly hazelnut) Cupcake. I had been to many bakeries in the past, including the rich kid bakery of my town at home in California. My expectations were not too high, and I just wanted to eat something sweet. ...That was hands down the best brownie I have ever had. And my brother's cupcake was the best cupcake I've ever tried. My dad, who was originally intending on us eating these two and leaving, tried a bite of my brownie and couldn't stop. He knew just as well as I that we needed to try everything the bakery had to offer. We proceeded to get a Salted Caramel Brownie, a Cookie Bar (basically two cookies stuck together in the shape of a bar with caramel in between), and two flavors of Macarons, despite our original plans to only get a cupcake and a brownie. All of these were sent straight from heaven. Even still, we decided that the Red Velvet Brownie we got at the start was the best thing we had tried. Thus, someone came up with the bright idea of buying their whole stock of them (two more). There was plenty of seating near big windows and they even had some games available for patrons to play. Hubby and I knocked out a round of dominoes while we waited for our cupcake. This reminds of a smaller, slightly less frilly version of Cake Bake in Indianapolis. Floral walls covered in spring blossoms just make it a happy girly place to go get your sugar rush. Also, though they offer iced tea, which is a rarity in Europe, and I was able to get one to go, they did not tell me it was sweetened, and I hate sugar in my tea. Oh well. Still had a delightful experience here, with the sweet staff. And the loos were so cute- blue for boys and pink for girls.
