Portifino is a beautiful town, and you would be hard pressed not to find a nice setting with any of the restaurants lining the inlet. I Gemelli is one of those perfectly situated restaurants on the left bank and affords diners with a beautiful view (both of the town and of the people walking by). The proprietors of I Gemelli is set of twins and their mother. The twins were very hospitable, pleasant and attentive. Even though the restaurant was packed and there was a queue of new diners waiting for an open table, we were never rushed during our entire time there. We ordered a caprese salad as a shared primi, spaghetti fruitti de mare and the filet e sole with potatoes. All of the dishes were decently portioned and flavorful. While we enjoyed lunch, we did find the cost 63 euro to be a bit overpriced for the quality of the food. The hubby and I normally do not eat the baskets of bread that most restaurants place on the table (as we like to save our appetite for our orders). Most of the time these bread baskets are complimentary. Not so at I Gemelli. One thing that is important to note is that the restaurant will charge you for the bread that is on the table - regardless if you eat it or not. We did not, and was surprised to see a 8 euro charge for the bread that we did not touch, that was whisked away at the end of service and most likely re-purposed to the next table. It soured our overall dining experience a bit, and we were disappointed that they would take that opportunity to insert a hidden fee. Any time you are left scratching your head at a dining experience, it will lower my overall rating. read more
