Turns out I configured my backups wrong, and left out the mess of documents on my desktop. Ugh! Yesterday, I contacted Glen at Alaska Computer Guy. He had me bring my computer in at 9:00 a.m. this morning. An hour later, he texted that my hard drive was dying, but he thought he could recover my desktop files. I was really relieved. By 3:00 p.m., he was done. He had recovered the files, and copied them to the thumb drive I gave him. I had everything back home by dinner. I was really happy with Alaska Computer Guy's work, and found it cost far less than I feared (data recovery can be expensive.) I hope to never need this kind of help again, but if this or something else comes up, I'll definitely be contacting Alaska Computer Guy again.

When our (only 2 year old) computer decided to slip into a coma during an update process, we called the Alaska Computer Guy. (This was after an attempt with a visit to Pyramid computer service only to find out the hours posted are not the hours followed. Not a good way to run a business.) An appointment was set up with Glen, (the Alaska Computer Guy) to drop off the computer and the computer was fixed and done the following day. Sweet! We were charged $100 bucks, which at first was a gasp, but the experience was so worth it. Thanks Glen! This guy knows what to do, and takes care of the customer.

The staff is friendly and intelligent, as well as being reasonable and honest. I purchased a refurbished phone from them that ended up having issues and when I brought it back they replaced it with a new in box version for only a small price adjustment. They also have helped both of my roommates with phone issues and were very kind to my girlfriend when she was trying to sell her phone (despite being unable to give her an offer on the device). I never feel unwelcome and always feel like I'm getting a great deal. Oh also if you're lucky you can kick a ball around with Deshka, the best soccer playing dog in Anchorage, while you wait.

As a business man, he has given me credits for work he has done if he keeps any item over 24hours from when he says it will be done. Unless it is special ordering parts, he usually has it back to me in 24 hours. Recently, I asked for advice on a data recovery project and he spent 10 minutes to thoroughly answer my questions and didn't charge me anything so I am writing him a review positively because he saved me tons of hours going down a rabbit hole trying to fix a data recovery problem that would have been impossible without his advice.
