Looking back, we're really glad we took their recommendation. OUR WATER: Our home is served by the Olivenhain Municipal Water District, which is known for having very hard water. Scale buildup is a challenge. OUR SALES EXPERIENCE: What impressed us first was the sales experience. Ariane took the time to educate us on the differences between water conditioners and water softeners, answer all of our questions, and explain the different product options without any pressure. She walked us through the pros and cons of each system and emphasized that the best choice depended on what we wanted from our water treatment system. We never felt like we were being sold something--just educated so we could make the best decision for our home. WHY WE CHOSE INSPIRE: We chose the Inspire system because we wanted a salt-free, low-maintenance solution. One of the biggest selling points for us was its expected service life. Ethical H2O explained that the filter media has an expected lifespan of about seven years before it needs to be changed out. Because we installed the system through them, Ethical H2O will also reach out when the time comes to test the filter media and determine whether it needs replacement. We especially appreciated that the system uses well-established, widely respected components, including a Clack control valve and Pentair tank. That gave us confidence that the equipment should last and that replacement parts and service would be readily available if they were ever needed. At our previous home, we had a citrus-based NuvoH2O Manor Trio system. While it worked reasonably well, it required replacing the cartridges every 6 to 9 months. We wanted a solution that required much less ongoing maintenance. OUR RESULTS: The system has been fantastic. The biggest surprise has been our electric kettle. Before the installation, we would start seeing scale buildup within a day or two, even when using tap water filtered through a PUR pitcher. It's now been over a week of using the kettle multiple times a day, and there's barely a hint of scale. Based on our experience so far, it's performing even better than the NuvoH2O system we had in our previous home. It's also reassuring to know that we're not only reducing scale but also filtering out chlorine and other contaminants throughout the house. We also appreciate having filtered water available from every faucet in the house instead of only from a single drinking-water tap, so we didn't need to do anything special for the refrigerator water line. OUR INSTALLATION EXPERIENCE: The installation was smooth, professional, and very clean. Ethical H2O works with a recommended plumber, but they also welcome customers to use their own plumber if they prefer. We decided to go with their recommendation, Chris Erbs Plumbing, and we're glad we did. The installation included connecting the Inspire system to our home's main water line and routing the regeneration drain to our existing sewer cleanout. Everything looked neat and professionally done. The plumbers completed the system's initial regeneration cycle, then took the time to walk us through its operation and maintenance before they left. Since they were already going to be on site, we also arranged directly with Chris Erbs Plumbing ahead of time to replace our water heater during the same visit. Being able to complete both projects in a single appointment made the entire process even more convenient. OUR RECOMMENDATION: If you're considering a whole-house water filtration system, I'd definitely recommend talking with Ethical H2O. Ariane made the selection process easy by helping us understand our options instead of trying to sell us the most expensive system, and Chris Erbs Plumbing did an outstanding job with the installation. The combination of knowledgeable guidance, quality equipment, and professional installation made the entire experience well worth the investment.

I do not recommend Culligan's service at all. They do not improve, and they clearly do not care even when customers say they are going to cancel the service. Very bad experience.

The reason I found out he sold it and retired was because he saw and recognized me walking the pier in IB :D He and his wife were always welcoming, like you were a family member visiting for a snack and a good chat. The place has generous seating available, always clean and never dirty or messy, and is in a prime business lot at the intersection of IB Blvd/Coronado Ave and 13th Street. I've only been back once since the place was sold and I wasn't really into the flavors offered at that time, plus they were no longer offering the maple eclairs. Not sure if they are now, but I'm sure their other donuts are good since they've got good reviews and were in the Reader last year. Go check them out!

I recently retired. I am 72 years old honestly, I've never heard anybody so rude. Maybe he's tired or had a bad day but an owner should know better when dealing with customers only trying to receive fairness in their purchases, I do believe even though they've made mistakes in the past their food has been acceptable but then again, I've had the Palm Ave Giant king PIZZA, and they were great also especially their customer service. I've been a customer of Giant King PIZZA since 1986 at the employment development department on 61st and Imperial, I used to go to the Giant King PIZZA off of division in National city they were fantastic! I went searching for a local store to buy Alkaline water and I stumbled upon this hidden little gem, called I.B. ClearWater. Not only did I find a great water store, I also found a great place to buy some cool art. First off, their store has one of the coolest decors I've seen in a long time. They've got a few antiques mixed with some beach art amidst the orange and blue palette of the store (hopefully an ode to the Padres). There's a display case near the cashier with some of the most fantastic hand painted artwork you've ever seen. Apparently one of the owners, Sherri, is also quite an artist and her portraits of famous people will have your jaw hitting the floor at how life-like they are. They've got one of the most legit water purification systems I've ever seen...and they even took me on a tour and showed it to me. I'd be a little suspicious about a water store that wouldn't let me see the system their using. If you hit the rush hour just after work don't worry about it. These guys have some comfy seats to kick back in if you do have to wait along with a flat screen television so you're even entertained while you're doing it. I've been to this place several times now and I think I see something new every time I go there. The staff is all really cool here, which makes every refill experience fun and enjoyable. Carl is very consultative and can answer any question you could possibly have about water purification. This guy knows his stuff. I like to call him the Pure Water Whisperer. Their open 7 days a week, which is good since it's hard to catch them getting off of work sometimes, so I can go on the weekend. I heard a rumor going around that their going to add a machine so you can refill alkaline water 24 hours a day outside. Now that would be cool. Based on my experience, I.B. ClearWater is the best water store in Imperial Beach. Their prices are a little better than others I've seen in San Diego, the water is definitely purified to the highest standards, their staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is fun and exciting...what else could you possibly want in a water store? read more
