**OVERALL REVIEW**…read more Over the course of years since this location opened, I have visited Buc-ee's numerous times, stocking up on food, t-shirts, and miscellaneous paraphernalia doning the logo featuring Bucky the Beaver. Tangeant note: The most popular t-shirt from Pro-Wrestling Tees is a charicature of Bucky the Beaver featuring Ruby Soho (a.k.a. Ruby Riot). Throughout those years visiting Buc-ee's AND being a Yelp Elite, I have not written a review on them... until now. It is evident by my high-recommendational tone, this location is going to get five-out-of-five-star rating. Let me detail you, why. Though an address is provided, Buc-ee's located in Daytona Beach is one exit north of the exit that has the Daytona Speedway just eastward of I-95. Their sign, a side-view of Bucky the Beaver, is easily viewable from the road. You'll know to make your exit along with the numerous billboards leading up to it. At one time, this Buc-ee's was "the biggest in the United States." That claim can no longer be said, but it should be known that whenever a new Buc-ee's location opens, it always seems to be "the biggest" until the next one opens. On the outside, Buc-ee's lives up to its roots in Texas, because "everything is bigger in Texas" right? There are 104 gas pumps for civilian drivers as commercial trucks are no longer allowed to stay at Buc-ee's thanks to the number of disrespectful truck drivers causing a ruckus. And plenty of people can enjoy Buc-ee's as there are 700 to 750 parking spaces. With all the meat you'll be eating, it should be fine to add a couple more steps sitting afar from the store. If you never been to a Buc-ee's before, you'll be greeted by the strong, delicious scent of brisket. Buc-ee's will go through up to 200 whole briskets a day. That is a lot of briskets sandwiches. And that is just the brisket. There is chicken, beef, and other kinds of cooked meat made into sandwiches and tacos and such. Kolaches are of numerous flavors including a dessert one. Let's not forget the nuts and fudge and everything else in between. In short, there is so much Buc-ee's branded food, freshly made from their deli, bakery, and meat departments or pre-packaged in their grocery section. Sidenote: do not sleep on the Buc-ee's Nuggies and Beaver Nuggets. And to end this review, I have to push their claim of having the cleanest restrooms of any gas station ever. Buc-ee's lives up to their name as the restroom always has at least two janitors on staff for each restroom to clean the over 80 restroom stalls. Those janitors are like ninjas. Once you step out, they swoop in to clean. It also helps each stall has a red light/green light letting people know when one is occupied or not. I could go on-and-on-and-on on why this Buc-ee's gets a five-star rating, but I will simply give you my personal positive insight. The food was always delicious, the service was always kind, and I have bought so many physical items here, specifically t-shirts. And guess what? I will continue to add more shirts to my Buc-ee's collection. The only thing I can see changing is the frequency I go here. "If" the rumored location in Indrio Rd. opens up, it takes me less time to drive south to Fort Pierce than it does for me to drive north to Daytona Beach. Still, that does not take away that Buc-ee's in Daytona Beach is the first Buc-ee's I been to, and it made such an impact that I would purposely make the drive north just to go here.

The parking lot alone is wild, with what feels like endless gas pumps. Walking inside was a whole experience because I genuinely didn't know where to start. It's like HomeGoods and Wawa had a giant, chaotic, beautiful baby. I made my way through section by section, and there's a little bit of everything. I grabbed their BBQ brisket sandwich and Beaver Chips first--absolutely worth it. The brisket sandwich was ridiculously good, and they're pumping those things out fresh every few minutes. Their hot food menu isn't huge, but honestly, that works in their favor--simple, focused, and done well. I also tried the triple meat sandwich with brisket, turkey, and sausage. It costs a little more, but it's loaded, super filling, and definitely worth it if you're hungry. One of the coolest parts? The jerky section, where you can sample different options before buying. Somehow I even left with beard oil... because Buc-ee's is apparently the kind of place where that makes total sense. Loved Buc-ee's. It's more than a gas station--it's basically a road trip experience.

I obviously had a different experience than others or something has really changed. Personally,…read moreI'm always happy when a rest area comes up when I need it or someone traveling with me needs it. No rest area is perfect. The cleaning and/or maintenance staff has a thankless job. As soon as the staff cleans it, or even while they are cleaning it, people just make a mess. Plus, no one can be there 24/7. People should really take better care and mind what they do...and be mindful of what they leave behind for staff "to do" because they didn't care, didn't pick up or clean up after themselves, were lazy, or just nasty. That said, sure...there were a few pieces of paper on the floor, and someone dropped a tissue, but it's not reason enough to call the place filthy. The important part is the facilities themselves were clean and stocked with toilet paper and soap. Isn't that what really matters? Moreover, the entry area was clean and tidy and the picnic area looked well-maintained. There is a family restroom located in front for your convenience if needed. The snack/vending area seems ample as well. Of course, there is plenty of parking, truck parking, and a pet relief area. If I have an issue with anything it is the quirky way you enter into this particular rest area...the road pattern is just strange. Please be advised, there aren't any tourist brochures at this location. This is basically a no-frills rest area and all business (if you know what I mean). At the end of the day, shouldn't we all be happy it's here? After all, sometimes nature calls when we least expect it!

The vending machines work. Litter is picked up. What is really concerning is that the surrounding area has been under construction for quite a while now. When you first pull in, you cannot park on the "safe" side away from the interstate, you have to drive all the way around and park on the side where everything is torn up. You have to be very careful because there are very few to no safety barriers up in some areas and in bad weather, you could end up in a very deep ditch.

I stopped in during an extremely busy time of the day but still managed to find a parking space within a reasonable distance from the front entrance. The interior was chaotic, it's seems everyone in Florida decided to have lunch here at the same time - well to say the least it was busy and a bit in disarray. I decided to headed to the Wendy's counter where I was met by Natasha and a big smile she took my order then my money and kept me company while my sandwiches were being prepared. After a little more than a few minutes my bounty arrived hot and fresh - my double cheeseburger was still hot and so delicious, this may have been the best Wendy's sandwich I've ever had bar none, even taking into consideration I was famished this Turkey Lake Service Plaza Wendy's Burger was just what I needed - I think Dave Thomas is probably looking down smiling and his infamous daughter Melinda Lou "Wendy" Thomas-Morse is still breaking the bank. The Turkey Lake rest stop has both north and south bound entrances. It is named after nearby Turkey lake which contains Bill Frederick Park. Food options here include vending machines, Dunkin Donuts, KFC, Nathans, Nature's Table, Villa Pizza, and Wendy's. There is the typical Sunshine market where you can pick up your sundries. Of course there are restrooms which is why you likely stopped as well as a picnic area. You can stock up on your tourist brochures which every kid likes to do in anticipation of fun destinations on a road trip. There is also expensive gas to refuel your vehicle. Normally I prefer a turnpike rest area to the ones on I-95. The reason for my one star is they don't require masks even though there are recommendations to wear one on the door. How can you not require masks at a place that has people coming through from all parts of Florida? I would like to note that the workers inside are wearing masks. Every day the number of cases of Covid is rising in Florida as is the death rate. It was upsetting to see hardly anyone walking in with a mask. No thanks. I don't want to be standing next to other non mask wearing people in the tight confines of the bathroom. Shame on the transportation authorities for not requiring masks for people entering the building. The more open plans of the I-95 bathroom rest areas is a better bet right now. The only turkeys I saw here today were the selfish non mask wearing people. Let's get it together Florida because it is going to take all of us.

There's even an attendant cleaning the pumps and refilling the supplies on a regular basis. Of special note is that the air and water for your tires are FREE! There is usually plenty of parking outside and you will rarely wait to pump gas. The store and restrooms are usually clean and tidy. The staff are usually pleasant as well. From all the food I purchased here, there was never an issue from what I can remember. I have both ordered food from kiosk and picked up hot items at the register, the refrigerators, and also have bought coffee almost every time visiting here.
