The car parking is not far from the truck parking so yes, you'll hear a truck idling all night. It is what it is. The rest rooms were decently clean in the morning. I did get a coffee from the vending machine and I would say, don't. That's the only lowlight from our night at the Davie County I-40 Westbound Rest Area. The trees and plants are well groomed. Parking is plentiful for both cars and trucks. They even have parking for cars with trailers. In addition to well kept and clean restrooms, they have a very nice vending area and many outdoor tables with plenty of space to stretch your legs or those of your four legged family members. Some of the outdoor tables even have covers over them in case it rains or to shield yourself from the sun. This was a great stop!

After I did my liquid business in tje well maintained and clean bathroom I checked our the vending area, several drink machines as well as snack machines to choose from but its your typical rest area junk, nothing good for you. Chips, cookies, candy, etc, nothing like sandwiches or such. I checked out what I finally noticed was the welcome center, its open daily 8 to 5. It was before 5 and a lady was in there but when I told her I was local and had never stopped at this particular rest area she seemed less interested in helping me but perhaps she just isnt friendly period, idk. I still spent about 10 minutes going thru brochures, there are tons and tons to choose from, you wont be disappointed as far as that goes. I left with probably 100 assorted brochures, pamphlets, etc. Stop in for the welcome center but not for the snack options.

I've often wondered just who exactly stops at a rest area for the vending machines -- many rest areas advertise their existence on the highway, with VENDING MACHINES printed below the REST AREA sign -- so I guess someone must use them, although I've never seen it happen. During our pit stop, this place was crowded with several dozen people, who seemed to be killing time waiting for something, or perhaps someone. It wasn't clear what they were doing, other than standing and sitting along the path to the restrooms, but I guess it's a cool enough spot to hang out in for a while. We opted not to linger, but did our business and continued our journey northward.

I had a bottle of hand sanitizer in the passenger door trough and it had tipped over and drained into the door. The smell was making me sick but a quick pick up Into a small trash bag and wiping with paper towels fixed the problem. This looks like a nice stop if we needed to stretch our legs or use the restroom but we hadn't traveled far enough for that kind of use.

You can download a list from their website and get a lot of good information detailing their locations. The purpose of the rest area is just that, to get a break from the drive, use the restroom, and possibly get a snack. Per their website, "Loitering, camping, soliciting, consuming alcoholic beverages and staying overnight are prohibited. North Carolina's Rest Areas." This one is off the right (west) side of the interstate when traveling south on I-95. The truck parking is closest to the road and the car parking is farthest from the road. There are two car lots and plenty of parking. The building and area look brand new. There are two single-story buildings separated by a covered walkway. One is the welcome center and the other is the restrooms. The restroom building has an open lobby with some very pretty terrazzo designs on the floor. The bathrooms were very clean and it was a nice place to stop. Overall, it was a nice place for a break and I will stop there again if I am passing through and want to stretch my legs or refresh myself on the drive. Enjoy. Added one picture to Google
