My main course was the osso bucco while my wife had their venison special (most Swiss restaurants feature venison during September). For dessert, I had Gebackene Apfelradeln mit weissem Zimtschaum which is a baked apples with a cinnamon whipped cream. My wife had the dessert special which was a deconstructed plum knodel. An excellent meal and definitely the best we had in both Chur and in Switzerland as a whole.

If you make a visit to Chur, you cannot go wrong dining here. Highly recommended!

Bit weird I know and it's not like I can just fly over there for food... (unfortunately!) When I was living in Switzerland this place was an all time favourite. I've had a lot of Mexican throughout my life time (yet to go to Mexico...) and this place by far has the best Mexican I've tasted to date. Hands down. I literally lived out of this restaurant whenever we were on a ski holiday... helped it was right next/ in the hotel we were staying. The food is great - always of a high standard no matter when you go and the staff are really helpful and friendly. It's an intimate restaurant and parts had fairly dim lighting (from when I was last there and that was a while ago) but it made for a nice atmosphere especially when the weather is incredibly cold outside. They welcome kids and go above and beyond their expected call of duty by offering colouring books, pencils etc. They're really just so lovely. Arosa is very well known for its "children friendly slopes." There are a lot of families that go there over Winter break/ during ski season. They have a very well organised skischule for all levels (even adults). The instructors are really nice and not necessarily from Switzerland but they speak fluent Haute Deutsch as often English as well. It's a great place to go skiing. Arosa is smaller than some with most slopes being of average difficulty but the atmosphere is lovely. There are quite a few nice restaurants around for such a small town. It's also easy to access if you don't have a car - you can get to Arosa by train and then either walk around or catch the free shuttle bus (if you've got a ski pass, otherwise I think you have to pay). If you're heading to Arosa to hit up the slopes, make sure you pop into the Cuculouche for dinner one time!!! It won't disappoint :) !

It is a very easy causal environment and you don't have to dress up for this restaurant. I really like the cheese board where you can try different type of meat. The main dining room books up in advance, but the bar (where you can get drinks and pizza, but no fondue) is first-come, first-serve. We got some Quattro Stagioni pizzas and local red wines; the prosciutto was excellent, as were the mushrooms and green olives. There's a serious family atmosphere here --- there was an ever-rotating group of kids staring amazedly at the flames in the pizza oven while we were there, and the waitstaff (mostly) dealt with it well. The décor is rough-hewn-wood-and-antlers --- nicely rustic compared to some of the white-linen places on Voa Principale. Our pizzas were great --- and we'll be booking some fondue for our next trip.
