This was supposed to be a short stop over on our way to Quebec city. Instead, I'm already trying to…read morethink of when I can come back. The place is beautiful, the photos do not do the rooms justice, and the breakfast is simply phenomenal. The hosts were really nice and stayed up to accommodate us driving in late. The rooms are well appointed, the bathrooms nice and clean. The grounds of the place is beautiful, lots of wildflowers, and next to a lake. Did I mention the three-course breakfast? Local jams with turkey pate, waffles with lots of wonderful fruits, freshly squeezed orange juice, and a crème brûlée grapefruit. I'm sad I didn't get to spend as much time here this time, but definitely planning to come back for a longer stay next time.

Manoir De La Rue Merry is the very best kind of BnB. This is like staying in a high end hotel where…read morethere are only 4 rooms and they are cozy and beautiful and the owners are kind and thoughtful and professional and incredible cooks who take pride in local product. The location is ideal for Magog, you're right by the cute bridge by the cute park and beach and the awesome local brew pub is a few steps away and so is the Rue Principale, ie; main street, with other cute restaurants and shops. The bed was super comfortable, the sheets and pillows were so deeply cosy, the room had it's own clean, nice little bathroom. There is a fireplace downstairs in a common room that connects to a whole hallway of maps and guidebooks for the region. The dining room is full of light and set with lovely cutlery, white table cloths, lace curtains, so calm and sunny and lovely. The owner will serve you coffee and juice in a champagne glass and then a 4 course beautiful breakfast which by the way, she made. She's happy to tell you about the different jams and preserves, the local cheeses and meats she's using, etc. She's calm and sweet and generally makes you feel at home, without that awkwardness... Because let's be real, I'm not always a fan of the bed and breakfast, sometimes this can be weird with weird forced interactions with strangers and mediocre food made by non-food professionals. The Merry Manor is the opposite, it's the best, so friendly and intimate and awesome, and I'll be back for sure.

I had bought a Tuango deal for a night in the mountain-view suite back in March but following the…read morelockdown, had to reschedule to September. While we were a bit nervous about bringing our city-slicker germs to the kind folk of the Eastern townships, I'm glad we got a night out of town in this very well-maintained and COVID-observant hotel. The hotel room is exactly what had been advertised: a nice view of Mount Orford, full kitchenette, comfy queen bed with a gas fireplace. The whole package lent itself to a thoroughly indulgent and very romantic night with a perfect balcony-view of the stars. The check-in was very smooth with staff in full-filtered masks and 2 metre spacing indicated on the floor. Check-out was exceptionally simple: you call reception and tell them you're heading out and leave the keys in the suite. No contact, no problem. As for the spa amenities that would be typically included with the room- given the circumstances a lot of the regular water circuit features are not available. What is currently available is the heated outdoor pool, several single-family hot tubs (for 15 min max) and a relaxation yurt. I don't know if it's because of COVID standards but I found the hot tub a little tepid for my tastes but otherwise very nice and clean. The relaxation yurt was also very clean, with soft music, chamomile tea and a big fire in the middle, although I found the sound a little annoying (nearby highway and people hanging out in the pool). All in all, the water circuit features available were thoroughly enjoyable with limited people and zero crowding.

We were offered a free Saturday night with a 4-course dinner and next day open buffet breakfast, at…read moreEstrimont Suites and Spa which is about an hour and a half east of Montreal. Although the place shows a tired look, it was reasonably clean. The suite was spacious with a small kitchenette equipped with a fridge, toaster oven, coffee maker, basic cutlery and glassware. There is an outside gas BBQ and some garden chairs. The highlight of this place, in my opinion, is the open air hot tubs which we were very fond of, especially with the freezing cold air temperature outside. There is also a non heated outside swimming pool which was unfortunately closed due to recent high wind. Inside is a swimming pool and a hot tub. Dinner at the restaurant was exquisite. Service impeccable. Best Pudding Chômeur ever. Breakfast, the next day, was well over expectations in terms of the variety ranging from pancakes on order to smoked salmon, hot dishes like beacon, sausages, potatoes and an impressive variety of other yummies too many to mention. So many desserts. A feast for the eyes. Would totally recommend this place.
