The original building is actually a replica of George a Washington's Mt. Vernon and still has many of the period floors and interior decor. First of all a group of us went to this stunningly beautiful restaurant on the water as part of the…read more Three Pines Tour and is frequented by Louise Penny, the author. We didn't have to wait long to be seated even though there were six of us. There were so many appealing items on the menu that it was hard to chose. Our server, Chau, was patient and helpful (even when I changed my mind about what to eat). Most of us ordered non-alcoholic drinks (their lemonade is delicious and not too sweet) and their home-baked bread, which was cut into quarters, was hearty and delicious, especially with the fresh butter that melted on impact. I started out with the Gaspacho, which was nice and cold, flavorful and just a bit chunky. For the main course I chose the Lobster Roll, without the roll, with half salad and half french fries. The meal in total was out of this world, and if I lived here I'd be at this place frequently. This restaurant also has facilities for recreation such as swimming pools, spa and I believe you can book a room as well. The grounds are spectacular and a perfect place to get away from the city. This establishment was awarded with the distinction at par with the Micheline 5-star rating, and I can understand why, even only having seen a fraction of the facilities. It's a little piece of heaven.

The hotel is flanked by a wildlife preserve on one side and Lac Brome on the other. They have kayaks, oars, and PFDs for you to use during your stay. The preserve and lake are must-sees by water. Even novice kayakers would enjoy this. The downstairs shower in the second bathroom was amazing. It was so needed on sore muscles after a long day of touring, driving, and kayaking. The spa down in the hotel offers a steam room (Hammam), whirlpool spa, sauna. All were excellent. There is also massages, body wraps, facials, and mani-pedis available on site. We didn't use the outdoor pool, but it was a salt water heated one (a big plus). The exercise room needs work-it does not have a/c and the weight equipment needs some lubrication. The restaurant La Brise was very good. Our server was so attentive and made sure my mom had a nice birthday surprise. I will give a review and rating separately for that. All in all a very reasonably-priced place to stay. I'd stay here again.

We got off to a bad start…read more I have recently gone vegan...which is not easy. I am not doing it to be difficult, I am doing it because I am an animal lover and I care about our planet. Two weeks ago, I stayed at this hotel with my three best friends. Before booking, I asked if their Découverte gastronomique package (which includes three course dinner and brunch for two days) could accommodate vegans. They said yes, no problem for vegan menu. I asked twice once while booking and then again days before our trip. On the first night I was served a nice tofu noodle dinner which was actually quite good. The only thing they could make for a starter was a salad but it was a sophisticated one. The dessert was a cup of fruit...which isn't dessert. That's all I am going to say. Then, Saturday brunch was disaster. They didn't even have non-dairy milk for my coffee. All I could eat was the basket of toast they plopped on the table. I was pretty pissed and I let the manager know. The reason why I am giving them 4 stars is because the chef really pulled up his socks after this. Saturday night dinner was the best vegan meal I have ever had. For started, the chef made a vegetable tartare finely chopped stacked together with a refreshing and relishing green sauce. He prepared a mushroom risotto which was beyond amazing. I am talking about a variety of seemingly exotic buttery mushrooms, each one unique, cooked to perfection and delicately assembled in my bowl with the delicious arborio rice and herbs. They served chocolate cake for dessert which was pretty good too. Sunday brunch was crepes, fruit with maple syrup and it really it the spot. I hope the restaurant keeps providing delicious vegan meals to it's clients. The chef really has a knack for turning plants into heavenly meals that anyone would truly enjoy. As for the hotel itself. The room decor is a little outdated with it's blue accent paint but it was very clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed the outdoor fire pit in the evening and the pool. There is also a beautiful place to go kayaking behind the hotel in a windy wetland where you can spot all kinds of birds.

The place is beautiful, the photos do not do the rooms justice, and the breakfast is simply phenomenal. The hosts were really nice and stayed up to accommodate us driving in late. The rooms are well appointed, the bathrooms nice and clean. The grounds of the place is beautiful, lots of wildflowers, and next to a lake. Did I mention the three-course breakfast? Local jams with turkey pate, waffles with lots of wonderful fruits, freshly squeezed orange juice, and a crème brûlée grapefruit. I'm sad I didn't get to spend as much time here this time, but definitely planning to come back for a longer stay next time.

The location is ideal for Magog, you're right by the cute bridge by the cute park and beach and the awesome local brew pub is a few steps away and so is the Rue Principale, ie; main street, with other cute restaurants and shops. The bed was super comfortable, the sheets and pillows were so deeply cosy, the room had it's own clean, nice little bathroom. There is a fireplace downstairs in a common room that connects to a whole hallway of maps and guidebooks for the region. The dining room is full of light and set with lovely cutlery, white table cloths, lace curtains, so calm and sunny and lovely. The owner will serve you coffee and juice in a champagne glass and then a 4 course beautiful breakfast which by the way, she made. She's happy to tell you about the different jams and preserves, the local cheeses and meats she's using, etc. She's calm and sweet and generally makes you feel at home, without that awkwardness... Because let's be real, I'm not always a fan of the bed and breakfast, sometimes this can be weird with weird forced interactions with strangers and mediocre food made by non-food professionals. The Merry Manor is the opposite, it's the best, so friendly and intimate and awesome, and I'll be back for sure.
