After learning about the town and the church we adjourned to this restaurant for our lunch. We sampled four different local cheeses and various meats, pork, and breads, and large platters of potatoes, cheese and cream. Way too much to finish. Service was completely unobtrusive but efficient and pleasant. A nice stop on our tour. We really enjoyed the mid-day meal before heading back out on our journey to Dordogne. Mark & Nancy.

You also could have a 4 minute egg. Dinner booked in advance consisted of local meats and vegetables. All prepared by a talented chef. The food was delicious. Get ready for some good times. Seating at the communal table was an opportunity to talk to the other guests who were of many nationalities about world affairs and local sites. Rooms were very big and eclectically decorated with diverse old furniture and art. There was a shower, bathtub and sauna in our bathroom. Although, what really made this place so great was our hosts! They were so friendly and fun and really made an effort to make our stay as wonderful as they could. The food is also excellent- fresh croissants, fruit, bread, yogurt and coffee in the morning for breakfast and different courses every night for dinner. The surrounding area is quaint and quiet with some very sweet small towns within 10-15 minute drive away. Also some nice restaurants and sites to see around the area including old churches, a small castle down the road with a very nice park behind it, and a cool clock tower in Issoire. over all, it was a wonderful place to stay and I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice, peaceful getaway in the south of France

My in-laws also got us a suite here for two nights during our wedding. I had to get past the strange name of this hotel, Oceania, considering that we are in CF, which is hours away from any ocean. Once I did, this place was excellent. It is very conveniently located near the train, and 2 minutes walk from Place de Jaude. They gave us a pre-selected menu for our family dinner, which made it easy for our family to select their meals. And the service was very personalized. The food was incredibly delicious. They even brought us GF desserts since my sis-in-law is also GF. The brunch was out-of-control! There was soooooo much food and it was delicious. They even brought a separate basket for GF pastries. Yes - pastries!! And not just weird, boring sliced bread, which is usually what happens when you have GF brunch requests. The suite was soooo nice! It was huge. There were 2 full bathrooms. One with a spa tub! Unfortunately, the tub was not used because we were always running around doing something. But I really wished I had access to it a few days later after a day of snowboarding. lol. Excellent place for almost anything you need.

This hotel is very clean, up-to-date and comfortable. The staff was nice and accommodating. We thought the hotel to be a good value. The restaurant and bar were closed in the evenings for some reason - but open for breakfast (which was everything we needed) There are certainly no shortage of other restaurants in town or in some of the smaller villages nearby for dinner. The hotel is convenient to both town center and the airport, not difficult to find (using the GPS in the rental car). Since we are going to Champeix and the Cantal often, we will certainly stay here again ... makes a fine staging area.
