I found this chateau (castle) online on booking dot com and it is truly a delightful place to spend some quiet time. 17th century castle nestled in the Auvergne countryside run by a Dutch couple who speak French, English and German. The breakfast was included in the price of the room and consisted of local sourced products. Breakfast freshly pressed juice, coffee and tea, French bread, croissants and chocolate croissants, brioche, cheeses, cold cuts, yogurt and locally made jams. There was fresh butter and honey. You also could have a 4 minute egg. Dinner booked in advance consisted of local meats and vegetables. All prepared by a talented chef. The food was delicious. Get ready for some good times. Seating at the communal table was an opportunity to talk to the other guests who were of many nationalities about world affairs and local sites. Rooms were very big and eclectically decorated with diverse old furniture and art. There was a shower, bathtub and sauna in our bathroom. Pool room on the ground floor doubled as a monopoly game room. Worth a detour. read more
