Le Cadran Solaire is a charming centuries-old stone house with a wrought iron gate and pleasant garden, which is what I imagined a French country home would be. The interior is tastefully decorated in French provincial style. Our family room (two comfortable bedrooms connected with a bath) was spacious. Breakfast is continental, which means pastries and fruit. You have the choice of having breakfast at the inn (in the dining room or in the garden) or going elsewhere if you wish to partake of a heavier breakfast. The husband and wife who run the inn are amiable, helpful and friendly to customers. Because there is not a lot of places to dine at in Graveson, we would go to nearby St. Rhemy for dinner or eat at whatever Provencal village we happened to be touring that day. By the way, another plus for this inn is that it is air-conditioned, which is a boon during hot summer months.

The room was just as advertised, with turndown service each night. We enjoyed breakfast each morning in the lovely courtyard - the breakfast buffet was pretty standard, but they have an option to order different egg dishes which was nice. On our last night, they had live musicians performing in the courtyard which was also very enjoyable. Plenty of comfortable seating around the pool as well. Highly recommend this hotel!!

Rooms are decorated in the Provence style that you came to this region to experience. First floor rooms have beautiful patio areas for relaxing. Plenty of room for your car! The small town of Barbentane has a Chinese/Vietnamese place, two traditional restos, a pizza place and two bars. No food or drink available on property. I can't wait to come here again! A steal of a deal at 85 euro a night. Just south of Avignon, easy to find and look for the signs posted here and there. Wifi a-ok. A Logis property.

A three star hotel outside the center of town…read more Stayed one night. The rooms are clean, but could use some updating. There is no English language tv channel (usually there is CNN or BBC), no in room safe, and they still use the layered be sheets where only the inner layer is washed. Our double room only had a full sized bed rather than a queen. I did not like how the doors and walls allowed in the noise of other guests anywhere in the hall and adjacent rooms. The air conditioning flashes red and green when it is working, and definitely does not help if you cannot sleep with christmas lights in your room. If you could ignore the above, they still they have a solid wifi connection, friendly staff, a pool and restaurant.

Elegant, Historic, and Ideally Located--A Memorable Stay in Avignon…read more We spent a few nights at Hôtel La Mirande and really loved the experience. If you're into rich history, beautiful decor, and a central location, this place is hard to beat. The best part of our stay was definitely the atmosphere and location. You're literally next to the Palais des Papes and walking distance to everything in the historic center. The hotel itself is like staying in a French time capsule--gorgeous antiques, serene courtyards, and a feeling of old-world sophistication throughout. Our room wasn't one of the ultra-grand ones (no canopy bed or soaring ceilings), but it was still large, elegant, and very comfortable. The bed and pillows were soft and cozy, and the room was spotless. Service was warm and helpful overall, although we did have one hiccup--after requesting a bucket of ice to chill a bottle of champagne, no one ever brought it, even after two calls. We eventually brought the bottle to the bar ourselves, and they were happy to help. Not a dealbreaker, but a surprising lapse for a hotel of this caliber. One thing we'd suggest improving? The towels. They looked beautiful and high-end, but they weren't soft at all. Upgrading to plusher, spa-quality towels would bring the comfort level up to match the rest of the experience. Safety-wise, we felt secure the entire time, but future guests should know that there are quite a few homeless individuals in the area. It didn't feel dangerous, just something to be aware of while walking at night. Bottom line: If you're looking for elegance, location, and a taste of historic France, Hôtel La Mirande is a standout choice. We'd love to come back--hopefully next time in one of those iconic high-ceiling rooms!
