We arrived after the reception had closed at 10pm but they had anticipated out late checkin despite not calling and taped an envelope with a code to enter the hotel to the front door. The envelope also contained directions to find our room key. Phew I was worried that they had canceled our reservation, but it all worked out. The elevator was down at night so we did have to schlep a little to get to the 2nd floor. The hotel is at about 2,000 ft so only mildly out of breath.
Hotel is situated at the base of the mountain outside of the official ski villages of Meribel Mottarette which are higher up, approximately another 6 miles drive. You feel a little bit like a rat in a maze searching for your room as the hotel has many corridors that are separated by different doors. I suppose it's a way to keep corridors insulated from the winter cold. In any case, we found our room, which had separate doors to the bathroom shower and bathroom toilette (also interesting). The bed was a comfortable king bed and I opened the door to a a small out door patio to let in some fresh mountain air. The sound of a nearby brook could also be heard as the water rushed by. We slept very well. The view from our bedroom in the morning was of the side of the mountains and it was breathtaking.
In the morning we had breakfast at 7 which was included in the price of our stay. The breakfast was a good selection of meat, cheese and ham, cereals, yogurt, and pastries too. Also had various juices and coffee.
I would come here again. read more
