We came up at the "fine restaurant" end of the building and would have sat down there to eat, except that we could not find anyone to ask about menu options for my vegan daughter, so we walked over to the "Gastro pub" end with would be better described as a bistro. The waitresses there were accessible and friendly and eager to challenge the chef to some creativity. The food was excellent. My daughter's salad had more varieties of green leaves than I have ever seen in Denmark, and a good variety of solid vegetables including baby broccoli spears. Her boy friend - a mathematician from Texas - had high praise for his fish balls. I had the beer-battered fish and chips, and the fish was excellent. I found the chips slightly soggy, but that may have been a choice of style to make British patrons happy. My beverage choice was a gr"uner veltliner and sparkling water, and on this sunny day I needed second of both and mixed them the second time around. This place restored my faith in Jutland restaurants, which had been badly damaged in Aalborg.

Went there to get shelter from the rain, did only have a dessert and something warm to drink. One…read moreof the greatest views in restaurants I have visited. The pancake was quite standard but it was served with some delicious home made jam. Fine service.

I really enjoyed my meal here, despite the fact that I came in quite frazzled after a long day of…read moreexploring. There was a little mixup with my meal (to be explained below) but everything worked out totally fine. For starters, my lack of Danish made reading and understanding the menu pretty darn difficult, so I was reassured by my very patient waitress as she helped to translate it until I found a vegetarian/fish dish. Per her recommendation, I decided on the pumpkin soup and salmon smorrebrød. When the soup came out, I took one bite and realized it was NOT pumpkin soup. It was some sort of meat soup. I sat for a while twiddling my thumbs, wishing I had a bottle of wine rather than one glass, wondering if I should just respectfully eat it and deal with the stomach ache that would potentially follow, or if I should continue my role as the obnoxious American and send it back. Due to my immense fear of vomit I opted for the latter. When I asked if it had meat, the food runner sort of chuckled. I thought: "Ok yes sir, I know there are hunks of animal flesh in there I just don't know how to navigate this situation." I felt really bad but I could tell he did too. He apologized profusely for the mixup and brought out my pumpkin soup (sidebar: the soup came out in a Mini saucepan. How cute). When the pumpkin soup came out I devoured it....aaand it ended up being free! I don't have any photos from the meal because I was truly enjoying my first TRUE solo sit-down, multi-course meal.

The staff was a bit inattentive so it took to long to get their attention, and thats a challenge for impatient children which are promised a visit at the bolcherie next door..
