The pub side is where you want to be.
On a visit to Skagen/Grenen, this Danish-American family stopped in here for lunch. We came up at the "fine restaurant" end of the building and would have sat down there to eat, except that we could not find anyone to ask about menu options for my vegan daughter, so we walked over to the "Gastro pub" end with would be better described as a bistro. The waitresses there were accessible and friendly and eager to challenge the chef to some creativity. The food was excellent. My daughter's salad had more varieties of green leaves than I have ever seen in Denmark, and a good variety of solid vegetables including baby broccoli spears. Her boy friend - a mathematician from Texas - had high praise for his fish balls. I had the beer-battered fish and chips, and the fish was excellent. I found the chips slightly soggy, but that may have been a choice of style to make British patrons happy. My beverage choice was a gr"uner veltliner and sparkling water, and on this sunny day I needed second of both and mixed them the second time around.
This place restored my faith in Jutland restaurants, which had been badly damaged in Aalborg. read more
