Just set off Hindley Street, you will find the store down some stairs. Lucky I saw the sign. This set up is a good size, split into two rooms. What is great about this store (wait for it boys...) is that you will find an almost equal amount of mens and womens clothing here. I was actually pretty surprised on the mens clothing selection. So awesome! As for pricing, not too bad actually. These are good quality brands. They do not accept any "fast fashion". So that means, no cotton on, valley girl or supre. Phew! This totally reflects on what you will find here. Winning! The staff here are really lovely as well. Not pushy or intrusive. They welcome you and are happy to answer questions. I love feeling comfortable to browse and not feel pressured into buying. Looking forward to bring my first batch of clothing here to see what it is like to swop or sell. YAYYYYYYY!!!

Sally's Seconds is attached to the Salvation Army next door (get it... "Sally's"?) and is jam-packed with all manner of clothing, toys and bric a brac. Because it's kind of tucked away and unassuming looking, Sally's can often be overlooked by bargain hunters and thrift lovers, but don't make the same mistake! I've found some amazing (and super cheap) stuff in here. On my last visit I scored a brand new kookai top for $5, an amazing retro set of '70s tumblers for $8, a lovely tin with geometric designs for $2 and I was tempted to take home "The Bill" board game for $2 but somehow resisted. Being in Norwood, the stock is generally of high quality and good brands, and I find it's rotated quite quickly as well, so you can come in for a weekly browse and find something new. The lovely ladies behind the counter are always a pleasure too!

Right in the middle of Norwood you would think that there would be a bunch of stock and some really good finds. I would say that Norwood is more of the upper-middle class area, so generally thrift stores in these areas have great gear to get your hands on. But, this one is just lacking in a lot of areas. This thrift store is small and separated into three rooms. I could see a large storage area at the back, maybe this is a staff area? Shame they do not use the space to expand the store. There was minimal clothing, books, crockery, etc... The staff also did not welcome me in the store like they do in the other Salvos stores. Such a let down and something that I like about their stores. Good customer services and generally helpful in most of them. Oh well... maybe I caught the staff on a bad day. But, I probably will not be back.

Not to mention the odd rack of different coloured tulles out the front. But I thought I may as well give it a chance. As I stepped into the teeny tiny store, I changed my mind almost immediately. About as big as my bedroom but crammed full of fifties through seventies retro items! Clothes, furniture, nic-naks, accessories. Coloured glass vases embossed with little bubbles. Tie racks full of leather and paisley. Rows of frocks in fur and sequins. A collection of novelty salt-and-pepper shakers. Clocks, lamps, seventies flour and sugar containers. Everything is carefully arranged in a kind of layered, crammed-in, ascending to the ceiling and descending back down again style. You know those posh little vintage stores in London where everything is about a week's worth of backpacker's pounds? It looks sorta like one of those! Which brings me to my next point. Nothing had a price-tag on it! On one hand, I hate asking for prices and despise haggling, so this was a bit of a dilemma. On the other hand, it freed me up from thinking about buying, and I just enjoyed looking without worrying about price tags. Next time I go in, I'll have to balls up a little and ask.

The Red Cross 'Two 8 Four' store is situated in the heart of Adelaide's Rundle fashion strip, amongst high-end fashion labels and cafes. Taking a unique approach to charity and fashion, this store has scouted a prime location to boost sales and interest. New on the scene, this shop is filled with vintage treasures scouted from thrift stores for charity. They have dresses, skirts, pants, shorts, jackets, men's clothing, shoes, hats, gloves, books, glasses, jewelry, and knick-knacks to please a vintage treasure hunter. Even if you aren't a general op-shopping fan, this place is worth a look. They scout stylish vintage that is very much in fashion right now and even a dress that goes to the floor can easily be turned into a craft project with a bit of hemming tape.

The space has A LOT of potential: spacious yet cosy, great window frontage, staircase and second level. Bazaar Vintage have decked the place out with some great elements: Turkish rugs, ornate '40s benches, vintage trinkets - but the rest is a bit of a mishmash: pin-up girls and pop-art Audrey Hepburn cushions and quirky fittings. It doesn't quite coalesce or advertise what the shop is all about. This vibe extends to the clothing too: from the exterior I guessed it would be more pin-up and '50s vintage - I was wrong. From midriff tanks and teensy cutoffs that'd look at home on an LA fashion blogger to Alexa Chung-esque peter pan collar dresses, it's a bit of a free for all. The sales girl told me the dresses - some of which are way cute - are re-worked vintage one-offs (it looked to be one size fits all). And while they were lovely, with a $200 price tag I would rather hit up Etsy for the same thing to be honest. I feel there's a lot of potential here, and the collection would definitely benefit from a good edit and a stronger identity (as well as more reasonable average price). The proprietor came in from her smoke break and didn't look happy to be interrupted. We got a brusque 'can I help you?' and my daughter got a 'don't you dare touch anything' stare, which frankly I did not enjoy. The vintage dresses and little tops were lovely and I would have been keen to get a better look at the jewellery if the owner wasn't waiting for us to get the heck out of there. I felt awkward and skipped on out.

The shop is divided into two section with the front displaying a taste of what the second contains, it's all racked according to size and grouped to day and evening wear. All of the clothes are in impeccable condition but somewhat out of date for the true trend setter to be seen wearing them but under the right circumstances, circles and events they can pass easily. Also in store are handbags, clutches and money purses big enough to stash the essentials, various shoes and sandals plus the essential accessories like scarves, belts, jewellery, etc. There is a sister store on Prospect Rd at Prospect which is soon to migrate over to the new location, ensuring the store will have even more stock to choose from. Price wise it is on the upper end depending on what piece it it of course.

All of it tends to be on the cheaper end of the scale and there are plenty of wardrobe basics such as leggings, track pants, plain socks and T-shirts. But you can also find some really cool stuff that you just wouldn't see anywhere else. As the name suggests, this is not high fashion, and the store reflects that. The venue is underground and very little has been done in the way of decorating. It is not a place for the claustrophobic shopper. However, prices are cheap, there is a lot to choose from and the owners have never judged me for buying 16 pairs of bed socks at once.
