This store was lacking in the one thing you expect to find in second hand clothing stores: women's…read moreclothes. Mens: check. Children's: check. Collection of useless brick a brack and used kitchen utensils: check. But there was not much happening there for the ladies! I found one small rack with a couple of frau frau blouses but the dress selection was nil. Where is the fun in op shopping if I can't get a look at a few hideous seventies frocks! And why was half of the store devoted to high wasted voluminous jeans? They did have a good book selection though. Half of the wall was devoted to fiction, and whoever is in charge of that area obviously reads because they had an interesting range of good quality fiction in there.

A pretty average op shop with almost no 'rummage till you find a gem' potential at all. The women's…read moreracks, as Liz points out, are surprisingly bare - and what is there is all of the lower end, lower quality variety. No crazy mu-mus, no unworn Cue pieces: a bunch of cheap brands in OK condition. Yes, it is cheap in cost as well, but that's not why I visit op shops. The men's selection fares better, though the home wares are dated and daggy. There *is* quite a selection of kid's toys which is great, but there are huge signs posted everywhere with "NO PLAYING WITH THE TOYS" splashed all over them. When my 2 year old niece went (quite naturally) immediately to this section and started touching things before we could pick her up again, a very blunt older lady appeared in .2 seconds and asked us to stop playing with the toys (which are positioned on the floor and within children's reach). She was a bit rude actually. I mean: have a heart ladies, they're *used* kids toys! Probably wouldn't go back.

I'm sure at the end of the day having to move everything back inside they have to quickly lean against the door with their backs hard against it and lock it before it explodes out! The pet shop is very well stocked with supplies for all creatures great and small, from dogs to mice, their pet bearded dragon is certainly not shrinking, he's huge. They do sell puppies, which I personally don't agree on any pet shop doing as breeder direct is better, but anyway. The owner and staff are friendly enough and certainly know their products and what can help with a minor ailment, otherwise it's a trip to the vet down the road. Besides dogs, they also have fish for sale. They also run an engraving service to personalise your pets name tag.

I come in here to get my mum's ridiculously minuscule dog a treat or two, and she loves them. They also have a massive range of fish for sale, which my niece makes a beeline for every time we visit, as well as puppies and kittens every now and then. They're friendly and welcoming, and you WILL need to keep your eyes peeled for the pastel pink fluffy chicken that pecks around like it owns the place. Which it might.... And there's usually a huge parrot and a few birds on stands around the store too, which aren't for sale but just do their thing.

A brand new clothes shop on Semaphore with some really nice stuff. Not really vintage nor second…read morehand or trashy but NEW, there is also jewellery, framed pictures and prints, sandals, wall decor, hand bags, a few unusual finds you wouldn't expect to find in a such a shop, etc. On face value there is a definite vintage inspired flavor I've noticed and the eclectic mix appears to work. Unfortunately the shop was closed when I discovered it but I am definitely going back when it's open, but despite it being closed from what I've gleaned it looks like my bank balance will suffer but hey...it's nearly Xmas! I have warned my other half not to buy me clothes and he has learnt over time I mean it, bless him - his heart is in the right place though. I believe a shop that works has been thoroughly researched and will survive for several years, much like reading the first few pages of a book you know if it's worth continuing to finish..same with a shop if it appeals to the public it's on a winner. I love their taste and choice in interior design / colour scheme. The square panel at the back which serves as a room divider at the back, is covered in a baroque style wallpaper, most probably from the same collection as the dragon fly one I've seen in a few shops. Looking up at the ceiling there is an awesome black light fitting and I want it in my house! Along with three silver cone shaped lights across the counter area, this too serves as a type of divider. For a change room there is a half circle shower type arrangement which from the front appears to work, this will be tested next week by me! When the shop was for lease and I just happened to be there when it was open for inspection and with my curious nature, I had to have a squiz. There I saw out the back a lovely and inviting narrow little pebbled garden...in time I predict it will have outdoor furniture of the french, shabby chic wire style. No website but they are on Facebook, of course I've clicked LIKE as there are only 24 LIKERS so far, as mentioned it's brand new to Semaphore. "I want to go to there"... and so will you! I'm a 'devotee'.

The shoes were so so for me and I'm not a big fan of beads so the bead necklaces didn't interest me. Then I spotted a shelf with a jewellery range on it that was little wacky and possibly the cutest things ever. One broach was a flamingo, one a giant deer, another a blackbird, and they had chunky necklaces with the same wacky creatures on them: they were huge and adorable and I want to adorn myself with them. The range are around thirty bucks each and absolutely worth coming in to buy. Lastly, the two staff working there were every friendly and they sounded super passionate about fashion and their new store too.

I'm not sure what I'd do with them now, but I understand they're supposed to have certain properties, which is kinda cool. I like the incense here, as it's not too strong. The sun catchers can be a little poxy, but there are also some very pretty ones. I think my favourite thing is the jewelry. I just love the styles of it - all the metal swirls and dragons and fairies etc. They appeal to my active imagination. There are also some very cool prints of mystical creatures, which I love to look at, though can't quite see on my own wall. There's one particular sign in this shop that makes me chuckle - see the photo.

Short of providing a tattoo service it does do piercings (sorry but ouch!) plus crystals, jewellery, incense, candles, etc. Wall hangings, statues, sun catchers, lighting, little girls fairy costumes and halloween stuff is for sale too, plus women's batic style clothing and more, basically it's got a mix of things. There is a tarot reader available but you'll have to make a booking and on this note it is definitely wiccan orientated. For those of you into wicca you'll be able to find supplies for your alter and rituals.
