But they do still have an online shop, which i have ordered from many times. They have an excellent selection, and great prices, i get everything i need for my grows from these guys, they are still my go to shop. I will miss the retail shop though.

The prices are unbeatable - better than what you'll find on Amazon and big-box retailers, and with more selections to choose from. They carry some Canadian brands I haven't even heard of, so it's great to have an opportunity to shop local! They recently moved to this larger space, carrying more stock. I appreciate their up-to-date website with the products and prices, so definitely check it out before visiting. You can order for delivery or pick up in store. The staff is also great at educating and helping you choose the right product. Noteworthy finds - Heat mats as little as $20. Did you know that besides keeping your plants toasty warm in the winter or to start seedlings, you can use it to rise your dough quicker when you make bread at home? - Nutrients: Many brands, including the popular line of General Hydroponics - pH Adjuster: Various pH adjusters you can try from Nitric, Phosphorus to Citric acid. For the same price as the big box store, you'll get 4x the product here. - Bulk buys of Hydroton / Leca for a great deal - Quality fertilizers like worm castings you can amend in soil - Net pots of varying sizes and large nursery pots to line under your decorative pots for cheap - Affordable grow bags made with recycled materials As a houseplant enthusiast, even the small size 1L bottles of nutrients, ph adjuster or clearing solution would last me super long, especially when I'm mostly diluting 1mL to 1 gallon of water at a time. It's like walking into a warehouse here, not a place you want to stay for long. They have been more Ecommerce focused, but now that they have a bigger space, there is room to improve their store presence. The only feedback I have is to create more impactful displays and organization of their products so shoppers can explore, compare, and find other things they may want to pick up. I visited the website after and realize there are other things I want to pick up that I missed seeing in store.

Oddly, I can only buy garden items in person at a garden centre but am forbidden to buy them at a Dollarama or big box store while I'm there. Uh okay, fine. With all the craze in the plant community, downtown big box stores are selling out of orchid mix and giant potting soil bags for online pickup. Local garden centres rarely carry stock online and aren't too helpful on the phone either, so you'll have to pay them a visit to pick it up. East End Garden Centre has all you need and more to get your outdoor urban garden started. They have lovely wooden trellises, stones and soil at reasonable prices. I picked up a few bags of veggie soil for only $5.99 for a 30L bag, a better deal than the commonly found Miracle-Gro in big box stores. Potting soil that is usable indoors is $1 more. All the reasons to shop local! If you don't have the room or time to start your seedlings, you can pick them up for $4. I see strawberries, peas, but no tomato plants yet. I came on a Sunday; it was bustling but not packed, so social distancing is possible. I browsed their houseplant section indoors briefly, not too attractive and slightly more expensive than other local shops I frequent. The drawing point continues to be their outdoor gardening and landscaping items, but if you're lucky to spot something nice, you can pick up a houseplant baby as well.

It is shocking to me that people are still being scammed into buying exorbitantly priced trees from them given how incredibly terrible they are. People might as well go to a supermarket and buy a tree for $50 since they would be getting an even better quality tree than they would get at Sheridan Nurseries. This sort of practice should be prohibited from continuing and the company should be called out for their false advertising (website and posts showing gorgeous trees, different types and heights and ample selection) when in fact they started letting customers pre-order trees starting in early November so when they receive shipments, the employees search through the trees for the nicest ones and those trees then go to fill all the pre-orders, leaving only the awful trees to choose from. They lie to customers to get them into the store and only then do the customers realize the trees that are left are nothing like the ones advertised. Sheridan Nurseries knows that many, many customers cannot shop around at different stores for a tree so they are essentially a captured audience who then feel compelled to buy a tree despite the atrocious quality and outrageous price tag. Sorry for my rant but I am so tired of businesses ripping off their customers, especially when discretionary spending for many people is now a huge struggle. Customers' expectations to get what they pay for are completely legitimate and they shouldn't even have to think about the possibility of receiving an inferior product or service when paying a premium or the top end of the market. I truly hope people will stop supporting them.

The staff person was rude, unhelpful, unsympathetic and completely humourless. Clearly implied that I had killed the second plant even though I had treated them precisely the same.
