First, I want to say that I have loved my botox experiences elsewhere but an experienced and…read moremindful injector makes all the difference. It's a huge risk to get Botox here. Do you want to play Russian roulette with your face? You go to these places to try and feel better about things you'd like to improve or things you feel self conscious about and not only did they make my issues worse, they lacked empathy and were rude because the doctor there was offended that I said that skilled injectors in the past were able to just look at my face and know exactly what was needed whereas, even after seeing several of my previous charts, Dr. Lindsey seemed very unconfident. I regret not leaving. She said they mix botox differently than others so that placement doesn't really matter (???) If that's the case, what's the point of having charts? Then, she proceeded to add way too much botox so, I had a heavy, dropped brow with hooded eyes and a constant headache. She pretended the amount she was using was conservative but I have never had such a heavy forehead and extra hooded eyelids. I looked and felt terrible. I was visiting Abbotsford and I brought in charts from doctors who previously did a good job with a botox "brow lift". I brought a chart of the last place I went that did a bad job and specifically said I was extremely concerned about that happening again. Dr Lindsey proceeded to give me the worst botox of my life. I had insane Jack Nicholson / Spock eyebrows. The middle was frozen to the point of being painful while the end of my eye brows had complete movement. This doctor appears to have no idea what she's doing. I should have trusted my gut when she seemed hesitant. I asked for a refund so that I could at least go somewhere else and try and get the Spock brows fixed without an additional cost for correcting their mistake and the receptionist was extremely unprofessional, combative, and rude. Then they just didn't return my call or emails despite telling me they would. They "don't do refunds" even if they completely mess up your face. When I'm in San Francisco, I go to Nob Hill Medical Aesthetics and they consistently do a good job. The first time I went, the right eyebrow was slightly too high and they had me come in for a few complimentary units to fix it - that's how it's done. I will always go to them for botox when I'm in SF. They way they injected me made me feel refreshed and my eyes were open - it was perfect. The other time I had a horrible botox experience, the MedSpa was apologetic and offered to do what they could to fix it and did the right thing of refunding me for ineffective and poor service. I have since gone back to different injectors there. Meanwhile, MD Cosmetic & Laser will make things worse after they botch your face by implying you're a problem for complaining and then simply ignoring you. Dr. Lindsey claimed to be conservative but injected too much. If for whatever reason you think it's a prudent choice to get Botox here after this review, get half of whatever she suggests - she's more of a salesperson than a doctor. Even hair dressers will tell you if they can't achieve what you're looking for. This doctor doesn't have the integrity to do that. There was a nurse there who was friendly and helpful and gave me some useful tips but also prescribed me with a hydroquinone compound and failed to tell me that it's not for long term use since it's been banned in most countries. Good luck if you decide to visit this place, I've never felt so horrible about myself after a treatment.

Always happy to get my face resurfaced with a buffer, I trotted off to MD Cosmetic. Jamie, the perkiest cutie in the world did my procedure. She knows skin, and has great advice and is very direct about what I need to do to salvage my stress ridden face skin. This place is not a Spa - it has machines, and chemicals, and cool stuff that actually makes a difference. They do Botox which I will probably need to think about soon... as my life is installing those lines pretty quickly. The service was great, the facility is spotless and the results are fab. I will be gong back there to get some more "fake youth" put back into my face... bring on the chemicals Jamie... I am coming back!!!

I go to day spas with the knowledge that the service is much more involved than that of a lash bar, nail salon or massage parlor. With that knowledge, the prices and minimum standards I have are much higher. The not-so-good: When you first enter the building, it's nice but in my opinion a little too chaotic. It's been my experience that the reception area usually flows very well. My first visit, I walked in and there were several people waiting in line to pay. I browsed around the entrance and they have several things for sale, lotions, hair stuff and whatnot. It was a little odd to me that there were two or three stands displaying products that were kind of in the middle of nowhere. It seemed like things were located upstairs. I wasn't greeted (again, the front desk person was helping other people) but I just decided to go upstairs where there is another area to check-in for spa services. The good: 1. When I went in to the upstairs spa check-in area, the environment completely changed into something more relaxing. 2. The lounge is equipped with snacks and drinks with a TV on mute. 3. The shower area is also pretty nice. The system is pretty typical, get changed, climb into a robe, leave your belongings in the locker. Two changing rooms are available 4. There is a steam room which was great and also two over-sized showers with MorocconOil products (side note, I love that styling cream, I'm probably going to be a Kerastase convert) 5. For after care there is spray deodorant, a blow dryer, some hair products, hair elastics. The only think missing was brushes/combs (many places have two containers, one for clean and one for used brushes/combs) Miscellaneous tips: Beyond that the location is good, it's very easy to find. I must have picked a perfect time to go because I had absolutely no difficulties finding parking. The parking lot was actually pretty empty. It's probably a good idea to get there early so you can use the steam room and take your time getting ready. I would say at absolute minimum, you should probably arrive 15 minutes early. After my body-treatment, I took my time getting ready so I ended up being there for about 2 hours, half the time I was in the lounge and it was relaxing. The overall experience was good and I would most definitely return in the future to try out more of their services.

I'm a hairy guy and I've had the odd girlfriend in the past raise that as an issue. It was never a…read moremake it or break it issue though but I was always a bit of a wimp when it comes to waxing. I'm terrified of doing stuff that could be painful. But, after hearing how so many do this I decided to bite the bullet in August 2019 and get my first full manzillian. I had read that if people were scared of waxing they should try say their back or upper arms but I dove right in. I read a lot online, spent hours reading about the experience of other men and women. One thing that helped me was advice online that recommended people getting waxed take a extra strength Tylenol when they get up, and another just before the procedure as it helps the system be a bit numb to the pain. But in terms of narrowing down where I was going to go, I think I visited and read reviews of several places in Vancouver that specialize in just providing waxing services, as CoalitionSkin does. And for me, what made CoalitionSkin (aka the PxssyShop) stand out was a few reviews by men and how they said that the hard wax CoalitionSkin used is easier on delicate areas like your testes, pubic bone and yes, even your face. Also, in reading the bios online, CoalitionSkin has aestheticians who have both the training and years of experience in waxing that I felt they'd be able to do a good job. Which they do. Finally, I even found and read the health inspection reports for CoalitionSkin and they've never had any major infractions - and my own experience confirms that the place has always been spotless when I've been their. Booking appointments is easy to do online, where you can select your aesthetician and times in advance. My first time in August 2019 was with Camille, who unfortunately moved on shortly thereafter but she was great at explaining things and helping to position me during the waxing. She also instructed me to breathe in just before each rip of the wax and that helped prepare me. What actually hurt more was the odd time she had to go over a spot again as not all the hair would come out during my first wax. The hot wax stung the raw skin. But not for long. The first time also took the longest. Since September 2019, I've gone to Olivia, who has been great. Each time it's been easier as the hair doesn't grow in as fast or as thick. Also in September I started getting my beard waxed. Olivia does that too. I have always had a very thick beard since I was a teenager. When I trim and shave it away, stubble grows back quick within hours and that made dating difficult as by the end of the date, kissing me would be like kissing razor blades. So waxing the beard has helped remove the hair and keep it away for a couple of weeks where the skin stays smooth. And after having it done four times now it's easier each time. My last wax only took an hour or so for both the beard and Manzillian whereas the first beard wax took a good hour and the first Manzillian over 90 minutes, maybe close to two hours. Having said this though, even though it now takes less time, nothing ever feels rushed, they take the time that's needed to do things properly. Overall I'm glad I chose CoalitionSkin. It costs a bit more, but their aestheticians are well trained, experienced and very friendly and easy going. And I don't find it that painful at all. It's partly a mindset and taking the Tylenol helps I think. The CoalitionSkin website has lots of tips to help you prepare too. And they give great advice for aftercare too, like taking it easy for 24 hours and using tea tree oil as part of your after-wax regiment. Next summer, in 2020, I might try getting my back done, and having a bit of cleanup on my upper arms and chest although I don't think I'd ever get my full chest done. I think Camille said that the men she had waxed always said the back hurt the most but we will see! Anyway I can't recommend them enough. Especially if other men are curious about this, or ladies want their men to get stuff done don't be afraid to check out CoalitionSkin!

Anyway, I booked my appointment with the founder and owner of the shop, Annik. I chose to come here based on stellar online reviews, that Miley Cyrus came here (she has to know a good waxer, right?), that appointments are offered into the evening and that they have hard wax. Also, the location is convenient for people downtown or taking skytrain. The area is really not sketchy like some others have said. Maybe if you are not used to homeless people or people loitering, but let's be real, that's everywhere these days. I was super happy with the services here. The rooms are private and clean. There is no double dipping and Annik, as well as the woman at the front desk, were very friendly and personable. Annik was a perfectionist with her waxing and made sure everything was symmetrical and all hairs were removed. She checked her work several times during the appointment, which I appreciate. She also worked quite quickly. While waxing is not going to be painless, the pain was very momentary.

I was 10-15 late and she kept telling me this over and over. I only made the apt an hour earlier. The room is multipurpose so there is a lot of clutter and equipment in the room. It's unlike anywhere I have been. The bed didn't have a sanitary cover over the face hole like other places. Music wasn't at a good level, I couldn't hear it. The woman's nails were so long they were scraping my back and at times digging right in. The pressure wasn't enough and when she asked and I replied more would be better she said it is $75 and considered a deep tissue massage... although they didn't charge me $75 (I don't feel it was even worth $45) She used so much oil I broke out in bumps all over afterwards even after she used this scalding hot towel to wipe it off.. These are not RMTs. In fact, no training at all!? I recommend Asian massage facility not Indian. This was something I did not enjoy and don't know how they have good reviews for massage. I didn't want to tip at all but gave her $5 anyways... Wouldn't return.

The staff are professional, well learned & polite. I enjoy going there. The eyebrow threading I received was the first time I've done my eyebrows since trying to regrow them following the plucking trend of the early 2000s. They were shaped beautifully and made me feel so confident. The soprano Ice Laser hair removal system is life changing. Literally painless and if it gets to warm, they flip a switch and the laser wand becomes ice cold for your comfort. I put only 4 stars because as a wheelchair user, my ability to use all the rooms was affected as two rooms and the washroom are up about 8 stairs. If you use a wheelchair chair, I'd suggest you tell them so they can plan to use the room on the main floor for you. There is a wheelchair spot and a ramp to the front door.
