Excellent hotel in Merida that feels and looks new with sparkling clean rooms. The rooms have 2 twins or an enormous king-size bed; very comfortable with soft sheets. Check-in was efficient. The staff is multilingual and very nice and will recognize your Hyatt status if you have it. There is also a small, but very nice pool and a hotel gym. The room's bathroom is great. The hand soap they use has a wonderful and kind of exotic cinnamon scent. The other toiletries are more subtle. They supply a lot of clean and fluffy towels and the maid service is quick and really on point. I really like the large stone shower and the rooms in general are enormous. There's even a couch. I stayed in a Regency Club king bed room, which is on the higher floors. I believe the floors go up to 18. Also, if you use Hyatt points, this hotel is rated a "1" in the Hyatt hotel categories, so a regency club room goes for 7000 points a day (2025). That includes a huge buffet breakfast with fresh omelettes, eggs to order, huevos rancheros, local Yucatan specialties, and all kinds of fresh juices and coffees and breakfast things. Good deal. The hotel has a very nice and large lobby with a small fountain and a bar, an excellent Italian restaurant, and also a coffee shop with a canteen inside where you can buy soft drinks and even local arts and crafts. If you don't book a Regency club room (where you can go yo the 17th floor club at basically almost any time to get coffee, snacks, beer and soft drinks, with a happy hour time at 5pm with more options), you can go across the street where there is a mini market with food, basic supplies and all kinds of sundries. And the large hotel across the street also has a shopping center inside with more artisanal shops. You can catch an Uber to basically anywhere in town and the historic downtown is about 15-20 minutes walk. Currently, Merida is said to be the safest city in Mexico and it's extremely nice to walk around in.

Time to get a new chef! Restaurant Today we had one of the wrost Breakfast I have had in Years. $270 mxp each for the American Breakfast. I asked for eggs over easy I got eggs well done I asked for home fries they gave me three little potatoes and I asked for breakfast sausage and I got one chicken hot dog cut up. The orange juice was warm, and the toast was cold. The waiter Victor was very good. Chef Bob Lissandrello Yucatan Food Critic

The Hyatt Regency in Merida is a stunning hotel. It's located in North Merida and very close to many new stores and shopping centers. The staff which includes María José are experts in customer service. Each staff member speaks English and Spanish and I was able to converse in both languages without issue. We were staying at the Hyatt Regency for a wedding and the staff who oversaw the wedding did a tremendous job. Our room on the 17th was spectacular. While we had access to the Regency perks we didn't have a chance to use them. The following morning we did eat breaker at Peregrine's and the service was top notch and the food was crafted with variety and passion. I would recommend staying at the Hyatt Regency. The average nightly price is about USD 130 and while that's on the high side for Mexico it's the same price as the Hampton Inn in medium cities like Boise, Idaho making it a great deal.

Bathroom shower floor - mold

Incredibly nice and attentive staff, including an early check in after a red-eye flight. Restaurant is ok. Some further attention to detail needed (better quality tortillas, using different knives to cut up fruit and onion) , but the lechon was very tasty. The room is ok overall, but curtains were not long enough to over entire window leaving gaps at both ends. The noise is very noticeable-- all of the room doors on my floor (7th) were just very loud to close. Very difficult to rest with the noise from the floor and the A/C. Now, the most important elements of a stay in Merida: 1) bed 2) A/C and 3) bathroom 1) bed: too hard and pillows very uncomfortable. After a day of sightseeing, comfortable rest is most important. This bed was hard and getting a good night's sleep was not possible. 2) A/C: Merida is hot and humid, so A/C is a #1 priority for best rest. The A/C is ok when it comes to cooling, but it is SO loud that it's twice as loud as being on an airplane. Every time it kick on, it will wake you up. So much so, you will turn the thermostat up to keep it from turning on as often as you'd really like. Plus, there is no vent in the bathroom. 3) bathroom: the lay out is not the best and the mold is ridiculous. There is mold along all the edges and just horrible. Pictures attached. Shower head is not adjustable and pressure not nearly enough.

Second night at hotel. Here on business. First room I had to change because the shower didnt work correctly and the AC made a loud noise. New room is great, except the floor (10th) wreaks of heavy cigarrete smoke

Worst Hyatt I have ever experienced there was loud construction which nobody told us about. the rooms are outdated the tub looked like no one had cleaned it in months the carpet is torn the drawers were falling apart the odor in the hallways was of septic tank! I should have stayed at fiesta Americana across the street! When I complained about the noise they asked me what construction was I talking about! Like really you can not hear it?? Save your money and go elsewhere!

No full length mirrors in the room? That's a basic concept for any hotel. Lighting in bath was also a challenge.

Every morning you can get a delicious freshly prepared breakfast served to you out there and listen to the calming noise of the water fountain. The rooms are richly appointed (we always stay in the Mejorada) and well-kept. Service is excellent--they wait outside for you to arrive back every night to let you in! This is really a stellar experience and a great place to stay and experience one of North America's best cities.

This is an absolutely beautiful property with impeccable service. So many nice little touches like welcome drinks on arrival, little chichen it's shaped chocolates on your pillow at night with a special message, organic shower products made with Mayan honey, and of course their incredible breakfast service. At night, there is always someone waiting at the gate to let you in no matter what the tine. We stayed in the Mejorada room with is gorgeous with high ceilings and a jetted tub. Although Casa Azul has its traditional charm, it's definitely upgraded and renovated enough to provide modern conveniences. The air condition was very good, plenty of outlets to charge things, etc. Breakfast service is the standout and often was one of the best meals of our trip. Their chilaquiles is especially incredible but you can't go wrong with any choice. Raul provided exceptional service and also accommodated a speedier service one day when we had a tour to catch earlier in the morning. Luna in the office was always super helpful to answer our questions and give us tips. Location-wise, it's steps away from el Paseo Mantejo and we felt very comfortable walking at night to and from our hotel from the center. Casa Azul cannot be missed!

The crazy thing about this particular one of the haciendas is that the food is also world class. Pro tip: don't miss the steam engine and note that the boiler is being lifted out of the old boiler room by the tree that grew under it. The boiler is so big that your mind might miss what it's really going on with it.

Calling itself "luxury" is a stretch. If you want the vibe go for a meal and view of the pool... tho it's not exactly the easiest place to get to. The road off the highway is rough and full of potholes. The restaurant is good however and the staff is friendly. The pork tacos are delicious. The place tho is odd. I'm not sure about the other Haciendas but this one could use a LOT of TLC. There are so many open spaces they could make way more interesting with landscaping, seating areas, and at minimum some lightening. There are a ton of very old areas... unused, and that's really the only thing to do to walk around and wonder what is all this old stuff for? But no context is offered, no history, unless you do the tour. It's frankly quite bizarre. If you want to completely disappear and feel a little rustic, and know you basically have your room, the restaurant facing the pool, and seating area facing big empty entrance to hang at - than ok, but I wouldn't necessarily call it tranquil and definitely not luxurious. The pool was dirty on one side, I never Saw one person in it, the hot tub was not hot, and we tried to walk to the secret cenote but there wasn't signage and ended up in a loop back to hotel. The spa service was top notch, absolutely 5*, thank you Fatima! It was in a room not in the cenote that gets advertised, as we were told right now there can be lots of bugs and even rats! The bedroom suite was huge with a hammock and an outside bath they filled for us that was lovely, the living room was pretty barren, they can use some art. The bed is comfortable I slept great. If you have kids please for the love of God don't come here. I cannot imagine how you would survive. We saw so many kids and cannot imagine what they possibly do with them at this property. If you are a writer and just need to go hide and write for a few days in the jungle then this could work. Otherwise I would not recommend. I'm Pretty open and flexible and have stayed many places... I just can't in good conscience tell people to go to this particular Hacienda unless it's for a specific reason.

There is a very nice pool with a large shallow area that is great for small children, and a separate, glassed-in hot-tub area. The first-floor mall has some very nice store for browsing and shopping. The rooms are nice, and spotlessly clean. We've always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. We've used the laundry service and the spa services, and they were great. The breakfast buffet is first-rate. There's a huge selection, and everything is delicious. The hotel is half a block from Paseo de Montejo, a beautiful place for a morning walk. The rooms are stocked with an abundance of towels and products. Oh, and I was surprised to discover that there were enough hangers. I enjoyed the chicken pibil in the fancy restaurant and the line soup. The pibil exceeded my expectation with a perfect balance of spices and the pickled onions. The other restaurant serves a breakfast buffet which was not something I chose to indulge in a second time. The staff are what makes this hotel worthwhile. The front desk and housekeeping staff are simply the sweetest and most industrious group of people i've encountered in years. We chose a room overlooking the courtyard since I'm not a night owl. If you choose to face the city, be prepared to hear music and conversations late into the night. The entry level houses a small mall where you can find touristy goods like, clothes and jewelry. There's a Chili's restaurant on the ground floor but why? You can walk around the city and find delicious food at high and low prices. You can find beautiful hand crafted items to take home or adorn yourself with in town. But you have to be willing to venture out. We spent 13 nights at the Fiesta Americana. Overall, I would say it was reasonably priced with great service. One star removed due to the lack of a qualified and knowledgeable concierge and because the breakfast bit was an overpriced disappointment.

The VIP hotel only has 6 suites however we still had an outdoor swimming pool with lounge chairs. The rooms are quite spacious, clean, and comfortable. The super tall ceilings and decor of the hotel truly transport you back to the hacienda days in Mexico. I did partake on ordering drinks poolside since its so hot/humid out there so thats also an option. I didn't see many other guests there since people are usually out on their tours or walking around getting familiar with the city. The concierge are super helpful providing ideas/suggestions on things to do or would recommend places if you ask. One day it was raining and they brought me an umbrella to me right before I walked out for a tour. I would recommend adding a small fridge to the room just so guests can store water. Como lo dice el nombre, Viva Merida! :D haha…read more So my bf and i were so excited to be visiting Merida for the first time but we also knew we had a long flight, so wanted a good place to rest. After checking out so many options we decided to wing it on this boutique hotel because we liked the architecture from the photos, and we read the breakfast was good (which is a must for us lol) So that day we landed and got a lil nervous because our taxi driver hadn't heard of it before, but once we drove close we noticed it was just as described, right in the middle of the historic center (awesome location!!). While i was finishing the check-in, my bf pointed out there was a huge glass door in an area that was different from the pics. But then, we were escorted to our rooms, we crossed that door and OMG! We were surrounded by beautiful colonial architecture with perfectly matched art and decor, and our favorite part: the inside patio, where we got to enjoy the weather while having a gorgeous peep of the sky during breakfast. Speaking of which, it was delicious! It's included on the room rate and it's a la carte, you can choose the night before so it's ready when you wake up. Loved the room, bed was comfy, ac worked perfectly, water bottles included, had a safe, nice couch area, pretty bathroom. Keep in mond the bathroom is upstairs, we had no issue but just as reminder lol The location is perfect. It's right on Calle 59, so it's within walking distance of the major historic places, restaurants, parks, museums, etc. Closest park is Santiago, there is a grocery store, oxxo, restaurant, spa and cinema around that one. A few doors down from the hotel there is an Atypico taco place that one of staff girls recommended, so good! Staff and service was excellent! Everyone was so nice and professional and helped with anything we needed. We also requested information about tours, and they booked for us in Kuxtal Tours. Honestly it didn't compare to the other ones we did, they were archeologists, very professional and knowledgable. Oh and last but not least, there is bar service at night so you can relax and get your drink on after a long day of walking around this beautiful city!
