Hotel Caribe's location is unmatched, its within walking distance to everything in the city center, one block from the Plaza de la independencia and Catedral. The building itself is beautiful, historic old world charm and appeal. We were lucky enough to be on the top floor, next to the pool, which provided us with amazing views of the Catedral's towers. The pool was small but nice to enjoy in the hot weather with the beautiful views, albeit containing so much chlorine our eyes were burning. This sums up the positives, now on with the many negatives which really left us with a bad impression over all. They advertise parking, wifi, air conditioner... none of which were provided in the manner expected. There is no on site parking, there is NO FREE parking. You have to park in a garage about 3 blocks away where you self park in incredibly small, tight fitting spaces that will test your driving ability. We were driving a VW Jetta and had a hard time fitting in these spaces. The attendants are of no help while you're parking. You pay a discounted hourly rate for showing proof of our hotel stay. Upon our hotel check in, the staff was indifference and rude. No one offered to walk us to and show us the room. Once we found it, it was damp, run down, and the AC barely worked. Worse off, the bathroom had an opening in the ceiling that exposed the sky, so we had to keep the bathroom door close to maintain what minimum AC we had and guess what? The bathroom door was broken and wouldn't stay closed !! Then the shower... omg, the water pressure is a joke and there is zero hot water! Not that we minded this as much, since it was super hot outside, but it was annoying the morning. The wifi did not function at all in our room. We had to sit in the lobby to use it, super annoying. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone expecting even a minimum amount of comfort and standard amenities. If you are fine with a cheap place to crash that's close to sights, then this is your run down two bit hotel. The most insulting part is how the hotel appears online to be so much more than it actually is. read more
