Crappy even for a Hyatt Place. The staff are dumb and seem empty - look at you with big eyes but with no comprehension. The communication was repeatedly confusing and inaccurate. The breakfast buffet was sub standard even by Hyatt Place standards - coffee was so thin I thought they must be reusing the grounds. The room looked clean but there was lots of wear and tear and things that didn't work right. You hear every sound from the hallway - in clouding the ice make every morning early as if it was an alarm clock. In a few years this place will be a dump. The manager - at least she seemed like the manager - was often there and was not at all welcoming. Her eyes were not wide open and not empty but rather sharp and unfriendly. She exuded bad energy and a lack of hospitality. Everyone in my group felt unwelcome and not valued, and all of us are well travelled. It's probably hard to run a place like this in a college town like Boulder - but they should have done better with customers who are long time Hyatt loyalists. Totally unacceptable. read more

My husband & I and our little dog had a fantastic stay! They covered the basics and so much more. Location is just about a mile from Pearl street with dozens of restaurants. The beds are comfortable. Rooms are set up efficiently with an L-shaped coach & desk. Free breakfast and wifi. Easy street parking if you want. Coffee available even after breakfast hours. Cookies in the evening. Nice surprise -- trivia in the lobby bar area Monday night. And the best part was the staff, especially the manager Matt. The staff are friendly and work as a team. This Hyatt was great for what it is. They do have a parking garage for a charge. Luckily, we were able to have the hotel waive the charge for us. Room was great. We got upgrade to a suite so it was very comfortable. Everything was good. Breakfast was included as well and was decent. Boulder's Hyatt Place is a solid mid-prized hotel. Location - It sits on historic Pearl Street and is only a block from the Foothills Parkway. This affords you excellent access to the center of town and a quick escape to visit the Rockies. Parking - Behind the hotel there is a parking deck that is easy to maneuver through and always has empty spaces. The hotel charges $7 a day to park there, be sure to arrange this with the front desk. Rooms - Our room was spacious and had views of the mountains over Boulder. Some highlights include the large, comfy king bed and the walk-in shower. Breakfast - Breakfast sandwiches, fruit, cereal, and bagels are served every morning. If you are looking for something more extensive, you will need to go elsewhere. Elevators - The major drawback to the Hyatt are the elevators. The two in the lobby are slow and one can wait upwards of 10 minutes at times for one to arrive. This is an issue if you find yourself on the 5th floor. Jarret - The Hyatt seems understaffed, especially at the front desk. Typically only one manager mans the front desk and has to deal with the majority of the tasks themselves. This can lead to slow service. Luckily, the Hyatt employs Jarret, the world's greatest employee. He somehow found a way to efficiently deal with dozens of issues at a time while wearing a welcoming smile. Meeting Jarret was well worth the trip to Boulder. read more

You should know that my stay at this hotel was a result of an error on my part. I thought I was booking at the Hyatt Place Denver/Westminster, which I stayed at previously and thought was quite nice. There are many things I found irritating at this hotel. I believe the hotel was built in 2015, and they refer to it as "modern," but it strikes me as much older. It's not a fancy hotel, but it's not cheap either. Let's talk about parking. The two options are hourly paid on the street or in the parking garage. They charge approximately $25/night for parking in a public garage. The kicker is that it's about a half block from the hotel. If you're traveling in inclement weather, be prepared. There is no valet parking. I stayed three nights. I got in a bit late on the first day (eleven-ish). At check-in, they said the default is no daily maid service and asked if I wanted it daily. I told them I did. They said I might want to remind the front desk in the morning. I didn't bother reminding the front desk but they did come through with maid service after the first night. They didn't return after the second night. The first night I noticed a recurring noise I couldn't identify. It sounded like when someone retracts a tape measure and it all rolls back up. Kind of a "tsss." It happened every 40 seconds. It drove me nuts because I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. The problem with a cycle of every 40 seconds is that each time you hear it, the interval is long enough that you start hoping that it's finally done. Then you start the cycle all over again. The next morning I found that the noise was a bus outside my window. It was a tour bus for a band and it was running all night. You hear the drone of the engine (which wasn't really a problem because it was consistent) but then there was sound that I believe was the pneumatic braking system. I have no idea of the mechanics of why they need to keep cycling through when the bus is parked for an extended period. I think I eventually fell asleep between 2-3 a.m. The morning of day 2, I asked if the bus was going to be there again that evening. The person at the front desk said the bus would be gone. They were misinformed. When I got back from my client on day two, I saw the bus still there. I talked to the manager, and he seemed sympathetic. The hotel was booked, so there were no options for me to go to another room. The manager said that some guests that were expected wouldn't arrive until later. If there was a no-show I could have one of those rooms. As the evening went on, I looked at other hotels in the area. I checked about a dozen or so, and everyone was booked. At midnight, I talked to the manager again and took him up on his offer of earplugs. While a bit uncomfortable, they did help keep out the higher frequencies of the bus hissing. The overnight manager offered to comp me for night 2 and said he would ask the regular manager about comping me for night one. I told him that was a nice gesture, but ultimately irrelevant for me since I'm on business and my client pays for the hotel. All charges remained on by bill. As a side note, I found out the tour bus was for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Not relevant but interesting. The bus was gone the morning of Day 3. At the free breakfast buffet on Day 3, I noticed chicken fried steak. I tried it. It wasn't the best, but I thought it was novel. I don't recall seeing that option at other hotel buffets. I appreciate the variety. On the evening of Day 3, I thought I'd give the bar a shot and get a cocktail. I asked the woman behind the bar for an Old Fashioned. She said "sure" than proceeded to ask me what's in an Old Fashioned. I told her (bourbon, simple syrup and bitters) and she assembled one the best she could. She said it was the second one she's ever made. The guy next to me ordered a Tequila Sunrise and it was a similar story. She asked him what's in a Tequila Sunrise. She said she assumed she had everything needed to make one. With the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band off to another town, sleeping was easier on the third night. read more

We weren't super impressed with this Hyatt Place. The rooms are pretty worn and dated. The front desk staff are hit or miss. The location is about 1.5 miles from the Pearl St Mall area. We had no problem easily walking that. There is one really nice gentleman who makes sure everyone is having a good time at breakfast. Stayed one week at this location. Cash rates for winter weren't extremely high but I heard staff bragging about $400+ rates during summer. Some highlights of my stay: Old underwear left in room who knows how long and loud construction noise nearby. Pros: 1. Newer hotel. Everything still looks relatively clean and nice 2. Whole Foods/Target nearby 3. Bus Terminal/bike share nearby 4. Good mountain views 5. Friendly front house staff 6. Hyatt Points + cash very reasonable 7. Accomodating staff for special events 8. Nice pool/Outdoor sitting area 9. Dog friendly Cons: 1. If you have status with Hyatt they won't really honor it save for the standard bottles of water. They will not upgrade 2. Breakfast gets very redundant. Basically either bacon or sausage. Same eggs everyday 3. Cups & napkins were in more then one occasion not available for breakfast 4. Rooms facing Pearl Street will hear a train in the wee hours of the morning probably 2x day 5. Location is on the edge of Pearl Street. Not exactly where any sights/activity is located at 8. Front house staff seem to be multi use: Front desk person is bartender/chef 9. Queen rooms get a tub and King rooms get a Shower for some reason. Overall if you have loyalty to Hyatt then you'll be underwhelmed. But as a average hotel in a not prime location for Boulder its alright. Parking fees add up. read more

Listen, I know I'm not staying at the Ritz but for this price point they need to make some changes. The rooms are nice but the extras are lazy at best. The rooms were high quality as usual, no issues at all. The breakfast wasn't bad but the potatoes tasted limes out of a microwaved freezer bag, disgusting. I know it's a little thing, but even the freshly replaced potatoes were hard and sunken. Someone explain to me why an indoor pool wouldn't be heated? It was ice cold in July and my son couldn't even go swimming. Either pop the roof for sunlight or heat your pool. They guy at check in brushed over me. I don't need the whole hotel rundown but just giving me my keys isn't great service. Where parking? What time is breakfast? Oh, I'm on the fifth floor, where's the elevator? I heard faint chatterings of these being explained to the seniors checked in two people ahead of me, if you wanted the whole line to hear you've got to speak up or repeat yourself. This is by far the most expensive crappy hotel we've ever stayed at and wouldn't recommend to anyone! They switched our rooms out 3 times. The first room had broken a/c and was 80 degrees. The second one smelled terrible and was noticeably dirty. Then the "upgraded" us to a suite which at least had working a/c snd smelled normal but the pull out was awful and tiny and everything looks dirty and stained. Stay anywhere else!! read more

It's a standard "new Hyatt" so the place is pretty top notch. The rooms are roomy and comfortable, and match their new corporate decor standards nicely. The furniture s comfortable enough, and the mattresses are amazing. The location is convenient to almost anything "boulder" with a nice bar/restaurant right next door. They have very nice inside and outside seating, and the pool is above average by a long shot. They pay attention to the quality of their food served for breakfast, and as a dedicated-Hyatt user, I can say it is some of the best I've had at a Hyatt. The reasons for not 5 stars: -the parking is fubar. It is a fairly long walk to a parking garage with no dedicated spots (it is shared with an apartment complex's residents). Adding to it, the bus station is right below the parking garage, so often I found "less-than-desirables" hanging out in the parking garage. Entry and egress from the garage with a vehicle is kooky as well. -The service is good but not great. I get the feeling they are training new staff as they often had to ask their manager for answers to the questions. -The WiFi is sloooooooooooooooooooooow. Even if you pay for the high-speed option. It was basically useless for me and my work, and I had to journey over to the bar to get a good connection. -There were lots of lights burnt out in ancillary spaces (hallways, ice-machine-rooms,etc.). I wouldn't let any of the above get in the way of staying here (except for maybe the WiFi). It is a very decent place! read more

I'd recommend as long as there are realistic expectations upon booking. The location is nice (close to downtown hot spots but far enough away you need to drive), has easy on-site paid parking and a decent continental breakfast. The suite we reserved was a bit worse for wear (stained couch cushion on both sides, bathroom door fell off the slider) and we had to wait 4 hours when we requested blankets and pillows for the fold out. I think the most disappointing part was that the website shows a Mountain View from the suites but now it actually overlooks construction, and there was an alarm from either the construction site or nearby building that went off every few minutes all night long which made it hard to sleep (try to avoid staying on the north side of the building because of this). Also, we booked the suite for a family trip, but be warned that the "contemporary bathroom" has frosted sliding glass doors, so even though you cannot see through them, it still doesn't feel private. read more

I was referred by a friend to stay in Boulder when I visited Colorado, and after browsing the hotel selections in this area I selected this place and i am so happy I did! The hotel was clean and spotless. You have an awesome view of the Boulder mountain peaks and it is in the smack middle of town. I added another star because of the marvelous customer service I received, specifically with Mitch. I had a bunch of parking ticket issues and he was very helpful and sincere with helping me resolve it, for example, running out to the parking garage to help me. We were able to check into our hotel room at 9:00am and when I called the front desk about a strange odor in the bathroom they immediately offered to change my room. The staff there were quick to cater to my needs! The reason why I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because parking was far from the hotel (that winter breeze does make a difference) and it's not complementary (was $10). P.s. We stayed here for almost 2 weeks for a business trip. The hotel itself is nice and in a great location. It's also nice to have an indoor pool. The breakfast was also pretty good. Unfortunately the housekeeping has major issues. There were days where nobody ever came to our room and even when they came it was evident that no cleaning was done. There was a coffee mug with old coffee in it that every housekeeper chose to leave on the nightstand for over a week! Also, the WiFi was really bad. This should not happen at a hotel that caters to people on business. Lastly, The parking garage is not attached to the building. After a while it is very inconvenient. I'm not sure why they don't have free valet person who get your car for you. read more

When I checked out 2 days later and asked the guy if they were seriously going to charge me for that night he called a different manager over. I told her what happened and asked her if she was going to charge me and her snotty response was "we don't have rats at this hotel." This is a perfectly fine hotel. The rooms are clean and quiet, and quite sizeable. I really like the set up of the Hyatt Place rooms that have a couch set up, with a desk, and a nice bathroom. It is important to note while the address is on pearl street, it's still about a 30-45 minute walk into the main walking area with restaurants and shops. I have stayed here a few times and the staff wasn't the most helpful. I noticed that they didn't turn over the room - not sure if that's a boulder "eco-friendly" thing, but I do appreciate the traditional making the bed that all other hotels do. Additionally, I accidentally left my empty extra purse in the hotel room and they told me repeatedly that they did not have it. (I left it on the couch before I checked out and realized this when I was in a car on the way to the airport.) Only until I had to threaten them with the fact that if it was not turned in that it would mean it was stolen and I would have to file a police report -- did management actually look into the issue and then called me back telling me that it in fact was turned in, they just "looked in the wrong place." That really frustrated me, so it is very unlikely that I will stay here again, however it is a nice clean hotel with complimentary breakfast and often is not too expensive so worth checking out - just don't leave anything behind. read more

I went on a business trip to Boulder. My company paid for my stay. I decided to return one day earlier and notified the concierge. My flight was delayed. When I tried to return to my paid room, they say I can't, and they need a manager to allow me to return to my fully paid room. The manager obviously was not there because it was night. The parking situation here is not good. You will pay 20 bucks a night to park in a nearby garage with a very strange exit. They don't mention that in your booking. The pool most certainly is not heated (even though they said it was). It was ice cold. The hot tub looked kinda dirty and smelled bad too. Rooms are a decent size and the location is good. You can drive straight down Pearl Street. The staff was fairly friendly. The kid who makes hot chocolate is a highlight. He's wonderful.
