I do my grocery shopping at this store but I am reviewing their Bistro. The food there is excellent. I meet a good friend there occasionally for breakfast. And at noon, "Laura" serves lunch on the buffet presentation with great food. Lasagna, Pork Chops, Steak etc. Each of these on their own days and the price is great. Nice clean place to eat and the staff is very professional, friendly, helpful and creating a family dinner atmosphere. They also have a dinner one but I catch the lunch more often. read more

Food: absolutely the wrong order and I waited 10 minutes for my pickup order, phone is not monitored, you cannot leave a voice message. I specifically requested no ham and no blue cheese...my request was completely ignored. Two reasons why I did not rate this a one star: firstly I spoke with the manager about this situation and he was very polite about everything. He too was unaware that the takeout service was as broken as it is. Secondly, I feel as if I should not give low reviews on any businesses, I have been advised to not give anything less than a two maybe a three. To preface my review, this is specifically for the pharmacy. I've also worked in retail pharmacy for 12 years and how I've been treated here 2 out of 3x in person has been horrible. So I know what happens in the background. I'm also not one to typically post to complain, but it's such a disservice to patients. The area is clean, but it's so open that the pharmacist doesn't take into consideration when speaking especially about personal information. She literally shouted the person's birthday back and her medications. The other time, another pharmacist barely wanted to help me or assist with transferring my medications. I'm new to the area (and state) and she just told me well you're probably out of refills without actually confirming the information and without offering any solution. After this last occurrence though, I honestly don't want to come back and will end up filling my prescriptions elsewhere. read more

Wanted a sweet treat decided to go and grab some cheesecake. Called at 0800 and was transferred to bakery. Was able to reserve 4 piece of the American ! When I arrived all four slices were there ! The am I was nice and friendly!!!!! read more

The biscuit with gravy and over medium eggs prepared to order was pretty delicious. The ham salad for the road was inedible as it was so salty. In addition, was this made with Miracle Whip? We should have known better that it would be too salty for us. The woman at the donut counter was primed to quarrel with me over the name of the donut despite me calling it the name it was labeled. Who wins? This was a stupid waste of time. Most food stuffs are overpriced here but it is worth a stop for their made to order food stations in their cafe over fast food options for sure. This is why we go out of our way to stop at a HyVee on road trips. read more

I hate to leave a bad review for HyVee. It's an amazing grocery store with a wonderful bakery and the company does great things for the community, like free breakfast on Veterans Day for those who served, and free meals for kids during the government shutdown, but today was a bad day for their kitchen and they managed to make it worse. My wife and I decided to eat breakfast there today, 11/23/25. There were 4 people in line ahead of us, so we expected it to take longer than usual, but this was ridiculous. We overheard other people complaining about the length of their wait, so we prepared ourselves. When our food arrived, it was missing the biscuits and gravy. I told the young man and he went to check. He came back and said they were waiting on a new batch of biscuits to finish baking. Then he disappeared quickly before I could show him my egg whites were still somewhat runny. The ladies next to us got one meal, but not the oatmeal the other ordered. Then our biscuits and gravy came. The gravy was great, but the middle of the biscuits was still doughy, uncooked. I ate around it. The lady waiting on oatmeal complained to him after he left our table. He came back shortly after that with her oatmeal and told her the raisins she asked for were still coming; they have to go get some off the store shelf. He was frustrated with her complaints and was getting defensive with her, as if he wouldn't dare just apologize. Another man came out of the kitchen and the lady asked for her money back. He didn't say a word to her, just walked away. I left the runny eggs and the biscuit dough and got up to shop. As I walked by the kitchen, he was telling someone that this lady wanted her money back and they were bad-mouthing her as if she didn't have a legitimate complaint. I can empathize with being short-handed (that didn't appear to be the case, although only one of them was cooking) or busy, but to act as though the customer is out of line for having a minimum expectation of service, and not being able to acknowledge to the customer that you're sorry their experience was less than excellent, I can't sympathize. Poorly managed that day, and poor attitudes by staff. I won't let this single episode of poor performance sour me on HyVee, but the deli charges enough for you to expect great service read more

I shop at HyVee at least twice a week. Once in a while there is a new employee who doesn't have great customer service, but they don't last long. Most employees here are very friendly and helpful. I like the quality of food a HyVee and rarely is there an item out of stock. read more

Their prices are almost twice as much as everywhere else in town. The only thing they really have going for them is they have a great meet for. But who's still shops here? Seems like not a lot of people as make sure you look at the expiration dates on what you're buying. read more

Re: customer service counter at HyVee Topeka,Ks. 2951 SW Wanamaker Rd Topeka, KS 66614 On Sunday 1-26-25 5:30 pm CST, I had an encounter with HyVee customer service counter employee. I requested a refund on my credit card for 2 items that I had receipt and the box containers. CRAV'N FLAVOR ICE CREAM CONES $2.97 box and the plastic 16 0z container for Basket & Bushel Strawberries $5.99. A young female yelled loudly for all to hear: " you have to have the original items" I had BOTH containers and receipt. She said "all the items". Wow, I said "melted ice cream soggy disaster and mushy strawberries would have been a huge mess to bring in here; I threw them away". She loudly for all to hear said: "yes you have to bring all items in; I will do this one time!" and "you have to come back tomorrow to ask for Brett in Produce to refund the strawberries during xx:xx to xx:xx time". I must have interrupted her watching the CHIEFS game kickoff! She was extremely rude; extremely uncalled for behavior representing HyVee customer service counter. I can certainly shop around the corner at Dillons Grocery. She was horribly hateful and rude rude wanting all employees and customers at checkout stations to hear her. She gave one refund for the ice cream to my credit card but certainly no receipt proof of that transaction that she handled. And announcing for me to come back tomorrow. I have a Rx for one year supply of pantoprozole and I'm paying cash. They refuse to sell me the prescription except one month at a time....UNLESS and UNTIL I provide them with my travel plans for the next 12 months showing I'll be out of country. OMG!! Pharmacy manager, Amber needs to stay in her lane and fill the prescription. I told her I would have my physician call tomorrow morning with the Rx to fill the entire script all at once. She said she still will not fill it unless and until I provide her with my international travel plans for the next 12 months. Funny, she said it's not their job to second guess an ordering physician. This store HAS to be the example of have employees should not behave towards customers. Employees talk among themselves and ignore you, even when you're the only person in line. The new cook food outside and serve people to go is unorganized and employees are rude, especially Laura, although the men there were as arrogant and snotty as could be too. I like the Hy-Vees in Manhattan KS and KC Missouri, always friendly and helpful employees in those stores. Maybe go get employee training from those stores. In the meantime. Topeka Hyvee is by far the best grocery store in Topeka! So convenient for the SW Topeka residents. They recently remodeled the entire store and it is beautiful! The store is always clean and well stocked. My favorite part? The bakery. Oh my goodness I would give the Topeka Hyvee Bakery 11/10 stars if I could! I had a Friendsgiving on November 20 and on November 19 I decided that it would be a fun idea to bring a heart cake (like the viral ones on tiktok). Living in Topeka, KS rather than a big city I thought this was going to be impossible to order...especially on such late notice. I went to the hyvee bakery the DAY BEFORE my Friendsgiving and showed them my inspiration pics from Pinterest and tiktok and said I know this is such late notice and I won't be disappointed if you say no but would you be able to make this? My party is at 5pm tomorrow. The Hyvee bakery staff was so incredibly nice and they knew exactly what I was talking about when I said the viral heart cake. The staff took pictures of my inspiration and even asked if I wanted real ribbon bows on the cake...of course I do! The next day I showed up to pick up my cake and I opened the box and it was the cutest Friendsgiving heart cake ever. They literally couldn't have done a better job. I showed up to my Friendsgiving with it and everyone was taking pictures of it and with it of course. At the end of the night I realized no one had eaten any of it and everyone was grabbing their items to leave. I went to grab the cake box lid from my bag across the room and when I came back, all of the girls were lined up and a girl was serving everyone a slice! Everyone was raving about how amazing the cake tasted and I didn't believe them until I tried it and oh my goodness it was the perfect amount of sweetness and it was so moist it tasted like angel food cake. The whole cake was gone in less than 5 minutes! Everyone was asking where I got the cake and when I said hyvee everyone was stunned. And to top it all off? It was less than $30!! read more

I don't come to HyVee for everything, but I do come here often if my wallet is in the mood that month if you know what I mean. Also, I use their pharmacy for everything. As far as the grocery is concerned, the store is clean, well organized, and I can usually find what I want easily. They have lots of options on many different products. The pharmacy has also been a good choice as I actually started using it about 4 years ago and have only had 1 or 2 bad experiences since. They text me when my prescriptions are ready, they have a super convenient drive up window, & they always answer the phone when I call. Finally, probably my favorite thing at this HyVee (other than the pistachio muffins from the bakery) is the Caribou Coffee. I love stopping in for a latte before I do my shopping or after I pickup my prescription. read more

Great selection, friendly staff, and open 24 hours. Besides the typical grocery story, they have a mini food court where you can get pizza, chinese food, sushi, meat loaf, fried chicken, sandwiches, and the well stocked salad bar. Since my main purpose for going to Hy-vee was to grab my salad for dinner, I ended up deducting 2 stars for the quality of the salad bar. Especially towards 7:30pm onward. Since the mini food court shuts down at 9pm, I have noticed on numerous occasions that the salad is wilted and the lettuce has browned along the edges. It shouldn't matter if it was 5pm or 8pm, the salad on the salad bar should always be fresh. read more

Not to mention the girl who works the pizza case does not give your food hot it's always cold makes me wonder how long they let the food sit there, and she likes to handle the trash and then serve you your food. I like shopping at Hy-Vee. The workers are always pleasant and ready to help. I am handy and use a ride on cart I always am asked if I need help getting groceries in my van. And they take the cart back in. Other places I have to either put groceries in a regular cart and push it out or after placing groceries in my van and then take it back in. The only problem I have had is I get a call the my prescriptions are ready and when I get to the store. I am told it will be 10 to 15 minutes because it isn't ready read more

I have been shopping at the Topeka and, at first, the Lawrence Hy-Vees beginning over 15 years ago. I almost always have a good experience(99+ % of the time) there, and I am concerned with some of the negative reviews Hy-Vee in Topeka has been getting. Of course, life isn't perfect and sometimes things happen but after looking over these and other reviews of retail establishments, I have concluded that many(but not all) of the negative reviewers are what we call 'trolls'. I feel sorry for these people as they appear to be placed on this Earth for the sole purpose to bring down the rest of us. I enjoy your helpful workers and your wide selection of products. Major push for self check out. Switched coffee shop to Starbucks. They have a brick and mortar Starbucks across the street. They drastically reduced fuel saver deals. Highly disappointed in this store and will be now shopping at Sams club or Dillions. read more

Ugh. Stinks like fish when you walk in the front door, ruining the experience. Nice display of produce, but it's WAY expensive. Same with the cheese department and the bakery. Heck, the whole store is a good 50-100% higher than any other grocer in town. Anyone who says otherwise obviously does not comparison shop. And the advertised helpful staff has been conspicuously absent the last few visits I've made.... The food court food is less than stellar - it all looks good but it tastes like cafeteria food. Ick. I do not recommend, and I am not a food snob. Just like good tasting food. Every time I go I think I'll never go back because of the stink and the expense, but they do have a few items that no other store in Topeka carries, which earns them a star and a visit every six months or so. read more

I am a regular and usually very satisfied customer. Today however I used the new self-checkout for the first time. HORRIBLE! I use self-checkout @ Walmart regularly and have no problem. The self-check @ HyVee required scanned items be placed on scaled platform after scanning. Really poor setup. Numerous errors. Had to have a system override a dozen times. Took FOREVER! I was not the only one. Almost everyone else at the self-checkouts having trouble also. Ran the assistant ragged. Needs Fixed Soon! read more

Once again a little disappointed with some of the staff at Hyvee. They really need to remember that it is an employee-owned business. Went to do self checkout with many hanging plants. It was very hard to tilt the plant so the scanner could read the tag, without not damaging the plant itself. Two monitors were standing at the front of the self-checkout, as is often the case. They were so busy talking to each other they did not notice my struggle and offer to assist. I called their attention and asked if any one of the locations had a scanner gun the young Caucasian man with glasses and very short side haircut simply said no. You think that would have been his hint that I needed help. So I cancelled the check out process at that station and went to a regular check out line. I just find it incredulous that neither one of the monitors picked up on the cues that I needed assistance. Likewise these grocery stores have practically forced people to do self checkout oh, but this is one of the multitude of reasons that people resist and resent it. I just wanted to point out that they do offer USPS service, it's posted on their website, google, and posted at the store counter that the Postal service is available till 9pm. I showed up to mail packages at 8:50 pm, I drove 20 miles to get to a late USPS service, and they refused to assist me because they closed their postal service early at 8:45pm. I told them all the places, sites, & counter where it's says they don't close till 9pm. Still they insisted that they would not help me because they closed early. Patrick the on duty manager was not sympathetic at all, and could care less that I was there before 9pm. Nor did he care that I drove so far, and just kept saying, they closed early, and there was nothing he could do about it. Madison the counter cashier is the one who closed early and said once she closed she couldn't open back up. Ughhh why close early at all?! Very frustrated with the way the on duty manager handled it, he acted more that it was my fault they closed early and I missed it. read more

It's a good Hy-Vee. Pretty much the same as any other Hy-Vee. They have a nice selection and clean aisles. It is a little pricey but I always know that from the get-go. Their staff is super friendly. They tried to help me find "liquid shortening" which apparently exists but isn't at markets. I called my mom to ask what the hell the recipe was asking for (it's my grandma's) and she said vegetable oil. Whew. Anyway, I shop here a lot and I like it but I'm not like HOLY COW BEST EVER. read more

The deli items are my go to. The salads are a quick side dish. Not a big fan of the layout.

Pick up order is never ready on time. A person can wait an hour or more after the pickup time. The prices are 30-35% higher than Dillons.

Edit: The response to my issues have been quick and very satisfying. It makes me really happy to know that even large businesses like Hy-Vee will still take the time to address a concern on such a personal level. Thank you Hy-Vee, and I will be happy to tell others about this policy. Now, I've got to be mean. First the good, the staff is very kind and attentive. Susan Prockish, Grace, and everyone who is usually in the customer service / postal service area does a fantastic job at constantly balancing customer service from what always look like way too many customers. The day manager however, Ashley, has never once been able to do any of that. She has even gone to the point today to avoid eye contact with me when there was a problem at one of their registers. Apparently, a customer had forgotten something and walked away, leaving it looking as though it was open, but it wasn't. I was polite, said hello, had a big smile on my face, and the man running the register was somewhat talkative, although it didn't seem like he was capable of talking much. I have had to speak with Ashley multiple times, this was the first time as a customer. I doubt she would remember, but I was the one who delivered her Hallmark and Russel Stover chocolates. She had never had a pleasant attitude, never been customer service oriented, and I have seen nothing but annoyance from her employees when she is directing them. I will have to be back, I like Hy-Vee, but I know if she's on deck, very little will be done to help me if I need it. read more

Disappointed...that's the best word to describe my experience. I travel frequently and I'm in the Topeka for several months working and visited this HyVee for the first time as I typically have good experiences at other HyVee's throughout the Midwest. I visited this store on a Monday afternoon around 5:30pm and the majority of the food in the hot case for Chinese and the Deli were dried out and appeared to be sitting for a while. I typically base my judgement of the store on these two areas because I figure if they can't keep these highly perishable areas up to reasonable standards then I don't want to see behind the doors where the rest of the food is located. I decided to try the Chinese food against my better judgement because I was hungry and just wanted to get home and eat. I selected the 2 best looking entrees and then an egg roll and crab rangoon. Both entrees were dried out (even though they spooned extra sauce over the top). The meat was more like jerky and the veggies were mushy and it wasn't really warm when I went to eat it. The egg roll and rangoon were rubbery and coated with oil from being fried. The only good part of this meal was the white rice. Can anyone tell me why they don't have fresh food out for the dinner hour and why it all looks like it was cooked at noon? Clearly those department managers and store managers don't have the highest of standards. read more

We always go to Hy-Vee for the awesome deals they have to get fuel points and as usual we go there on sundays for weekly grocery shopping. Here we ready for check out they had a problem with our phone number linked to our account and so they had a manager named Kirby come over and all could say that it was wrong and it didn't match for whatever reason it happened at least 10 times they tried the phone number so what I'm trying to say in kirbys eyes the customer is wrong even though after all that the cashier next to this one was having the same problem so it wasn't our fault it was on there side. So they pretty much wasted 20 minutes of my time thanks a lot Kirby I hope this gets seen by upper management. To be honest i am not sure if we will go back for awhile. read more

Love, Love, LOVE this place! Prices are comparable to "Wal-Mart's always low prices." But the awesome thing about it is you can actually find employees in the store and don't feel like your in a huge warehouse with crap stored in there. They are nice and very helpful unlike other stores were you just ruined their day by talking to them. The meat is always looking great and cut fresh. Love the 24 hour since I can go in at 2am to avoid people on a quick food run. read more

Visited the Hyvee Cocina Mexicana food truck today at the Kansas Children's Discovery Center over lunch hour. It went way beyond my expectations. The truck was decorated in a fun way and was super clean. Service was friendly, helpful and to top it all off....the food was delicious. I tried the street tacos, one barbacoa, one pork, one chicken with a side of guac. The tacos were delicious and the guac was as well, fresh and homemade. To top it all off, the plate it was served on was sturdy, cardboard instead of styrofoam (better for the planet) and held each taco separate and in place. Love, love, love this food truck. But today I went in and before starting to do my shopping (I ALWAYS BUY meats, fish and veggies here) I went to get a cup of coffee at the caribou stand. WOW there was nooo customer service. These 20 something's need to be taught that when someone walks up, smile or say something even if your busy. We can see that you are making a coffee. 1 stop shopping ranging from groceries to bed linen !!! Nothing like going into a store and having nearly every employee there ready to fulfill your every shopping need. If you didn't grab something to eat before going shopping for your groceries or if shopping brings on the hunger...hit the wide ranged food court! If while shopping you remembered your anniversary..head on over to their floral department and pick an already designed arrangement or take time to place a specific arrangement order. Convenience...YES...check it out sometime, if you haven't yet. Also, I have not been to a Hy-Vee that has been under par. And way more fun to shop here than any Wal-Mart by far! read more
