Once again my wife took a jar of mayonnaise to the checkout. it was priced 3.95 on the shelf. When she got to the checkout, she was charged 5.99. When she had inquired about this, she was told that the special price of 3.95 was only for booking online. She found this on the shelf tag in very small print it when she went back to look. This is totally unacceptable and is borderline fraud. read more

Meat department is fabulous! The bakery should take note. I bought a decorated cookie. Took forever to find a container but honestly I wish they had never found one. It was TERRIBLE! This is such a nice store.Great variety of vegetables, always looking fresh. I find staff very helpful from bakery to frozen goods. Tremendous selections throughout the dastore including a Gluten Free area for which I am so appreciative. This store is so poorly managed. I stopped here this past week to mail something for work. I thought I'd quickly pick up a few things for dinner before heading back to work, as the store wasn't that busy. I grabbed my items and headed to the check out only to find one register open AND they were training a new cashier at that register. Of course, everyone starts somewhere, it wasn't this gal's fault but what manager thinks it's a good idea to have the only register open with a trainee that is clearly on her first day? There was one person ahead of me, so I put my items on the conveyor belt and put on my patient hat. People were lined up behind me and the manager was standing there watching this unfold and did nothing. After waiting through the trainer and trainee try to figure out why the customer's employee discount didn't work, trying multiple times to enter his perks number unsuccessfully, all with absolutely no sense of urgency or consideration for the line of people waiting, something else went wrong and I heard the trainer say "we are going to have to call the manager for this one". I left my groceries on the belt and walked out. I will go out of my way to go to another location even though this store is closest to my home. YES, HyVee needs some competition in this town. read more

Very nice grocery store. The staff was nice. The store was clean and well organized. The Starbucks inside the store was nice.

Saw an ad for Thursday steak dinners. Was in need to do something for dinner and decided to head to Hy-Vee. Right away i knew something was wrong as there was a lady by the precooked steaks with a not so nice look on her face. I was shocked they were precooked as well. I walked over to have a look myself. I saw that there was minimal heating for a large amount of steaks. I put my hand near them while the kid had the lid open. Stone COLD. Not warm, not hot, but COLD. I decided to have something different from the deli as I was not about to get sick from food that wasn't at the right temperature. I asked the kid who dished up my food. He told me there was some miscommunication and they were getting them heated up. I was shocked as nobody saw the problem with selling cold food that was not quite reheated. Everyone knows what a health hazard this is and a food inspector would have had a field day. As we sat down to eat a family next to us was complained that they're steaks were cold. I could see one was rare. I'm so glad I didn't eat the steak as I know I would've been sick as a dog later. I do like Hy-Vee and go there for only produce and meat as their prices have gotten out of hand. It's way cheaper for me to go somewhere else. read more

I just ordered and picked up from their curbside deliver a 2 entree Chinese meal. It came with 2 chicken egg rolls, sesame chicken, Mongolian beef, lo mein, and a fortune cookie for a REALLY low price. I arrived at 4:48 pm for a 4:50 pm pickup. I called the number given to say I had arrived and literally within 2 minutes the food was delivered to my car by a smiling (behind her mask) young lady. And it was still nice and hot when I returned to my hotel. And all of the food tasted great. Strongly recommend this store and the curbside option. read more

The staff here is always helpful. They have the best meat in town. Hyvee always seems to have all the products a person needs. Even some odd things like canned shitakis and Japanese rice crackers. I go here every other day and I feel the staff knows who I am. One thing to watch, if something is marked way down be sure to check the date. There are times that things have days only left. I really enjoy shopping here. The Beer and Spirit selection is EPIC! Very convenient to stop here at anytime, even when it is busy. Having my bank branch there is also a plus. The Hy-Chi (Hy-vee Chinese food) is pretty good as well. And i Love the Meat selection. With all that fresh meat and with a great price, i can grill all year long. read more
