I had a very disappointing experience at the CVS in Iowa City…read more I originally used the self-checkout, but when my 25% off coupon wouldn't scan, a shift supervisor named Brianna came over to help and moved me to a register. I also handed her a $4 coupon. Before the issue was clearly resolved, she tore up my $4 coupon. She then insisted it had been applied, but the total only reflected the 25% discount on my $16.99 item. The additional $4 discount was not included. When I politely pointed out the discrepancy, instead of explaining or correcting it, the interaction became argumentative and dismissive. We went back and forth for about 30 minutes, with no resolution. Since my coupon had already been destroyed and the pricing issue still wasn't resolved, I ultimately decided not to complete the purchase. The missing $4 wasn't the biggest issue--it was the lack of professionalism, clear communication, and customer service. I expect a shift supervisor to handle situations like this calmly, accurately, and respectfully. Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience. I hope CVS management reviews this incident so future customers don't have a similar experience

This place is pretty much the same as any other chain drugstore, when looking for miscellaneous toiletries or maybe to fill a prescription. And that's why I've been here several times - to stock up. Convenience = 3 Stars. My only thing I'll never forgive CVS for is taking over the Target pharmacy business and getting rid of their uniquely designed red (with color code collars) prescription bottles.

Once they got to closing time they simply picked the phone up and hung it up on me after sitting there for nearly an hour. So incredibly unprofessional and just flat out rude. 800 number doesn't deal with the type of prescription we need filled for my child so I have to hold whenever they give us the runaround and make it impossible to fill his prescription that he has to have to function in school. I am going to research new pharmacies after tonight because I am tired of the incredibly inconsiderate treatment to their patients. I am a nurse and I wouldn't dare hang up on a patient nor speak to them in the manner these folks do. Patients holding for so long when they can't speak to the 800 number is also just inexcusable. Covid is over, your staffing shortages have been reduced, find a new reason to be so awful!

So, you ask yourself, why the heck would she say that and give them five stars?? Well, while it is a huge issue for me that I cannot fill prescriptions there with the coverage of my insurance, I ended up there the other night because CVS has decided, in their infinite wisdom, that this portion of Iowa does not need the ability to fill a prescription at 10 p.m. at night. My son, who was in the ER until his release at 10 p.m., would likely disagree. He really needed pain meds, and I had very few options to fill the script. I ended up at Walgreens, resolving that his physical health and well-being was more important than the cost-savings of waiting until morning to fill the prescription. They quoted me the price, and I told them I would deal... it wasn't enormous, and it was better than making him suffer until morning. The pharmacist was very nice. I couldn't fault her for the lame fact that they do not take military insurance. I waited, and they filled the script. When I went to pay, she told me she had found a discount (I honestly have no idea if this was a coupon lying around or the fact that I happened to have a shoppers' card, but either way...). I saved about half on the script and my son slept better that night with the pain meds I was able to get for him. If Walgreens starts taking my insurance again, I will likely not bother with CVS anymore. I much prefer being able to fill and emergency prescription and having a nice pharmacist available to talk to, even in the wee hours of the night. 24 hour pharmacy... what a novel concept!!
