I stopped at this grocery store for some breakfast items on a Sunday morning. Everyone working seem to be friendly and very helpful. It's a large store with a huge selection of items. I think the prices might have been a little on the high side on the items that I surveyed while I was walking around. I really tried to avoid eating Chinese food at Hy-Vee for one. It always looks dry but this particular time this was the closest I was gonna get to some Chinese. I got fried rice which I had to ask him for some fresh fried rice. Kon po chicken I might not be spelling it right but the vegetables tasted old like the head came out of some old person's house. Y'all know what I'm talking about but the customer service sucked the worst. I still do why a guy was talking to somebody about a eggroll two other people who were behind the counter looking at me and didn't even come up and asked me. Did I need some help then the guy did come to me and assumed that I was putting it in a bowl without asking, I will be calling manager about it, but their attorney sucks next time just go to China panda you'd be better off at least you know that stuff is fresh. This store doesn't redeem bottles and cans. The decision to stop accepting recycling is a poor one. Personally I would prefer to buy products that have a deposit at stores that accept returns. So I have had questions about the Chinese food from hy-vee in the past. I got some a few days ago and gave what I couldn't eat to my dog. This dog normally inhales food. I went grocery shopping at Edgewood Rd Hy-Vee and found everything I was looking for. I bought a lot of fresh fruits and veggies as well as a fair amount of other foods. I walked up to the meat counter and was greeted by a friendly staff member who helped me pick out the meat I was looking for. I even walked into their Wine & Spirits department and was delightfully surprised at their amazing selection of craft beers. My whole experience at the Edgewood Rd Hy-Vee was great! Definitely plan to return to get more groceries in the future. They definitely seemed to have everything I needed. read more

Wanted to do online pickup today. Of course they are short staffed due to weather which I expected and gave them extra time. Have went through the pick up line twice now. I went inside to see how long and there are kids standing all over the place while two poor guys stand outside loading cards and delivering tough messages. Poor management. The food store is fine. The pharmacy is another story. I arrived and was told they had just got the script from my doc and that it would be 15 minutes before it would be ready. Returning 15 minutes later I was told they hadn't gotten to my order and that it would be another 20 minutes. I figured I'd give them plenty of time so I returned an hour later to be told it would be a further 20 minutes. 20 minutes later and I am still waiting. Not sure how long I am supposed to wait this time as I just walked away from the counter while being lied to yet again. All I know is a fifteen minute wait is going to be nearly two hours... Last time I ever use HyVee to fill a prescription. UPDATE: Well it's 3-hours later. I have one of the two prescriptions and was told it will be 15 minutes for the other. I told the employee I had had it. When one of pharmacists heard our raised voices she got involved and told me they didn't have the second prescription. I asked then why was I just told it would be 15 more minutes? No answer. Incompetent liars. I wouldn't buy a jug of milk in this place. read more

This Hyvee location is perfect right off hwy 100. Its Clean the liquor section always has a great selection for the machine shop.

There Aisles online just isn't the same anymore at the begging of the year I'd say it was at least a 9/10 uoverall the service was definitely best in the city, but now everytime but the past few months the service has definitely declined that I've be using Marion location more instead of the Edgewood like the pick up crew is so clueless to what is even going on. I love the new setup you guys got but you need to do soooo much better service wise I'd give you gives a solid 3/10 now sucks to see such a great service go downhill so fast. read more

Overall, this is a really nice store and the employees that I interacted with seemed to be pretty nice. The location is extremely convenient and the store has plenty of parking which is nice! The reason I gave this review three stars instead of four is because when I went in to the store to pick up some items my mom needed, one of the managers (I believe it was a manager as they had a black name tag on while everyone else had a white name tag), was talking very degrading to one of the other employees that I assume was a high school kid working at the store. The manager was talking very loud and between his tone of voice and language the poor kid that the manager was chewing out looked like he was going to cry. read more

Am I the only one that grew up going to just one Hy-Vee and that was "your" Hy-Vee? I did, so when I moved to the other side of town and had to get used to a new store, I wasn't very happy about it. Edgewood Rd Hy-Vee has really grown on me though. The store is large, has a Starbucks, is well stocked, clean and the staff are courteous. I have even had to work with a manager on a coupon issue and they were so kind and helpful. In addition to all that, the store offers a salad bar, deli, cheese island, Chinese, Italian, bakery and more. So while it isn't my "home" store, it is quickly working it's way into my heart. read more

I will never purchase from Hyvee online again. They say they have the product online, just to get you to come in there. It is just designed to get you to come in to the store, don't fall for it. You may think they have it and then you drive 10 minutes to get there just to find out half your order is missing. This review is actually for Hy-Vee as a restaurant. We had steered clear of Hy-Vee's Chinese food after my in-laws tried some at the Collins Road location and did not have a good experience. After seeing a long line of people waiting for Chinese at the Edgewood Road location, we started to reconsider, though. Since moving to Iowa almost a year ago, we have been pretty disappointed with the overall quality of the Chinese food. So we were really surprised to find a solid option in a supermarket. I had the sesame chicken (the best of everything that I tried), the orange chicken (very good), and tried some of my wife's Mongolian beef (also quite good). The egg roll was decent, but the fried rice was bland and a bit disappointing. Overall, I would certainly recommend the Chinese food at this Hy-Vee. read more

Honestly the lady who works the customer service who would not take my clothing return packages today really should not work in a "service" industry and who ever hired her should probably take a serious look at your hiring practices. If you are not going to take customers packages then don't offer a service to do so. I honestly was going to be a customer and buy something but your "overzelous employee" really then made me have to drive out of my way to drop off a package at a post office that easily accepted them and did not hound me with questions (it's just a return package). Please do a better job of who is hired at customer service, then you won't lose customers. read more

In my life, I have never seen a better maintained supermarket. When I moved to SF from NY I thought Safeway was amazing. And, it is compared to Gristede's & D'Ag & Associated. But compared to this Hy Vee its nothing. You can eat off the floors in the place and the staff genuinely wants to help you. This is for the Chinese food. Best Hy-Vee Chinese in all of: Iowa City, Coralville, Cedar Rapids, Marion, and the Quad cities. Every Hy-Vee Chinese I try is NOTHING compared to Edgewood road. I make all my friends from out of town come here at some point or another, because no one believes when I say how superior it is to all other locations. PERIOD. Also the salad bar is better here. Being retired, in a pandemic, my wife and I travel very little, getting gas maybe once every 7 weeks. We have become daycare for grandkids dropped off at our house, so we do now order a far amount of groceries. In the last year we have probably lost close to $90 in Fuel Saver that expired. I have asked several times if retired people can get several months to use it. I would bet that Hy-Vee tax advisors have set it up that they write it off so why not give more time. IF that lost Fuel Saver goes towards donations in food that Hy-Vee gives out during Thanksgiving and other times I could find satisfaction in losing the Fuel Saver that I had 'earned' through purchases (usually running that same range of $90 or more). But in using it for donation (and write off advantage) isn't it really my donation? read more

Ordered groceries online and had them delivered to my home from HyVee. I can't express how appreciative I am of this service. My life is as busy as everyone else, but getting groceries often can take hours out of my life I just don't have. After 15 minutes of creating an online list, then 15 minutes of putting groceries away, HyVee just gave me back precious time I would not otherwise have had. Please, please don't let this service go, it is so valuable. The young man who delivered our groceries provided excellent customer service and we received the items we had ordered. We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary in the Edgewood Road Hy-Vee Club Room, and couldn't be more happy with their staff and service. Mary Pat was extremely helpful. Colby, the food was delicious and Jaden did a terrific job serving us. The floral department did a wonderful job with the flowers. And of course, what's a party without cake. It also was delicious. Upon entering the room we were greeted by our server and Colby and saw a beautifully decorated table. Kudos to all who helped make our celebration so special. I have never had such horrible tasting 7 layer salad ever. In fact, since you have become the "perfect" store from, display to your advertising, which obviously had to cost WAY MORE, your product has decreased thru the entire store. Hy-Vee does a great job across the board at most locations. I have been and continue to be a fan of the Edgewood store but have one major concern. The produce department leaves much to be desired. Very poor quality overall and frequently find items slightly spoiled. Many of our friends shop this store and all complain about the produce. I loooooovve the Hyvee Chinese. I recommend for everyone to try it. I know it's not really "authentic" but who even cares! That's why we are in the United States! We love Americanized food! Which is why I love it! Sometimes the chicken can be a little cold but I went back and they gladly gave me warm chicken. I love the orange and sesame chicken! Killed the Deli The recent remodel to open a restaurant killed a very nice deli experience. Seating is now limited with too few tables that deters groups. The tables are in the open near the incoming traffic-pattern, which is distracting. ...and it's COLD in the winter. Generally a negative and disappointing experience compared to the prior configuration. HyVee used to rule the deli dine-in business and has now traded that dominance to try and compete with successful trendy neighboring hot spots. That isn't going to happen. Don't expect to be taking a huge market share from Zepps. read more

This is a bad grocery store. Unfortunately it's about all there is in this town. The worst part of the story is the produce department. It's awful! I have been told that they do not buy first level produce, and that is easy to believe. Their selection is bad and the quality is worse. For example today, I tried to buy thyme and jicama. They had no thyme or other common fresh spices, only box after box of basil and lemon grass. The jicama was either soft or out right rotten. The choice in this town other than this store is limited to target or Wallmart. Of course, I could go to Iowa city to the New Pioneer co-op, but that is 45 minutes from where I am right now. My only suggestion is to live in a town where there is a decent grocery store. read more
