My first experience with them was about 2.5 years ago when I found them on Yelp. They came and concluded my unit outside was too old to be repaired, so we needed a new unit outside (4K). We proceeded with the job without asking for a second opinion (big mistake) but also assumed we will not have issues for a while. Well this summer that compressor failed. I had forgotten about hvac connection (I have been using different companies for small jobs since) but after three different companies told me the compressor is not working I realized it was still under warranty, so they advised to call who installed it. I called hvac connection, they came out and initially I did not mention someone else had looked and checked the units (upstairs and downstairs). After the first check they informed me the unit upstairs is failing and needs to be replaced. They can try fixing it for about $550 but if that doesn't work, it will cost me 4-5k to replace the unit. At this moment, I thought something was fishy - I mean, the unit had just been checked by literally three companies. So, I informed him I don't think that is the issue as different techs came out and confirmed the unit up is just fine and the compressor is dead. At this point, the answer was "yes. The compressor doesn't sound good either". They went ahead and did a "warranty replacement" that cost me $600 for labor (20 min worth of labor). After all this, the AC is still not working and the tech proceeds to tell me "he told me this would not fix my issue" and asked for the payment for the labor. At this point, I asked them to leave the old compressor because I want to confirm with the manufacturer the unit that was replaced (at this point, I don't even know if they used a new compressor for the warranty etc) - the tech told me if I want to keep that I need to pay an extra $500 because he needs to return the warranty to the manufacturer and I needed to cover its cost if I wanted to keep it (please note, how the cost is less than what I was charged for labor for a warranty). I then had a different company come look at the unit. Once again it was confirmed the upstairs unit is just fine (and as a matter of fact, it is working for months at this point for heat). However, he said the compressor is badly installed, the old filter was left inside, and there is a connection to some pipe that was not done correctly. He quoted the entire job at 1000 as there's apparently a lot of cleaning up to do after a poor job I then let hvac connection know I have a report from a different company with a summary of all the errors and how there is an extra filter left inside and there are multiple issues with the installation). They said they would come out again "in a few weeks" because they were so busy to fix it and disappeared. I then contacted them again and they promised a refund via check and told me to use someone else. And if the new compressor is problematic anyone else with a license would be able to fix it (because all hvac companies out there cannot wait to come and clean up messes made by unprofessional companies). I agreed however - at this point I want nothing to do with them. A month later, still no refund. I went ahead and filed a chargeback and did get the money back, but it was such a nightmare. They clearly try to upsell and replace units that can be repaired and it doesn't look like they know what they are doing when they replace the unit either. I would NEVER use them again - they are not honest and they did an extremely poor job. read more

While we're not ready to replace our unit just yet, we wanted to catch up on maintenance and repairs to keep it going. The work was completed in about an hour, though after they had left it had taken me a day to admit to myself that something wasn't right since I was no longer getting cool air. We have a Vacation Rental in Las Vegas, we got a referral from a friend to check and fix AC problems before our tenant arrival date. We agreed to pay the high repair cost without bargaining it down because we wanted it to be fixed in time. The guy started the job the he called me to let me know that he had to go buy a small part, and ... when my tenants came 2 days later the AC access through the ceiling still open, AC not working. Fortunately weather was not to bad and our tenants agreed to forgive us if we paid their rent back and we did it happily. We check on yelp and we came up across with Joel, reading some reviews, we knew that is our guy. I called Joel, he picked up the call himself ( not the answering service, please hold) he set up a time to come and check the AC system. He showed up on time, diagnosed the problem, made a recommendation and listened to our concern "time" he said he can do it, we asked for consultation time he agreed. This happened on Monday afternoon he said if we made our decision and wanted to go ahead to replace the whole system and give him the ok by Tuesday morning, he would start on Wednesday and would get our system going on Wednesday night. We called him later on and gave him the ok. Wednesday around 10:00 am his crew arrived with 2 new complete AC system and by 9:30 Wednesday night both AC systems were running in full capacity with 2 new wifi controlled thermostats too. He did not ask for any deposit or prepayment arrangements or any advance money( like what others do to make sure you can not go anywhere else). After everything was done, including setup of the thermostats on my Phone and making sure that I can use the app. Then sales docs and payment started. I have found another trustable person, another good friend and a very honest business owner. Thank you Joel. I recommend him to any one who might need his services. I am sure he can not do every single job that is referred to him but, I am sure he will take care of every job that he accepts, I am sure when he leaves your job site ( business or home), you feel great that you trusted him. Ps: One mor thing, very important one!!! You know in situations like this, when there is no written and signed contract to begin, after wards when it comes to paying the price, most of the contractors forget their promises or prices that they quoted and mostly they come up with excuses to charge you more. In our case things were different, I believe that he understood that we will paying with a bank guaranteed check " we brought it up during price check" but we had to pay by credit card that I am sure would cost him a lot more than cashing a check,but he accepted that with a smile and gave us the discount that he promised us. read more

You can't put a price on peace of mind, but you can put a price on an honest contractor and that's nearly the same thing. Joel, the owner/operator of HVAC Connection, is great. I had a new furnace and condenser unit installed by another company who did less than stellar work. A year later when I wasn't seeing the drop in power usage and efficiency I was hoping for I decided to give Joel a call. It turns out my "closed" system wasn't really closed. It was full of leaks. The raised platform my furnace sat on in my garage had been subjected to numerous water leaks as it was shared by the water heater which had burst and leaked at various points in this home's 35 year history and at some point a previous owner had cut a 2' x 3' hole into this platform, presumably to drain it and help it dry out. Not only did the original installers not say anything about it, but they also hadn't properly sealed any of the joints in the venting system above the furnace and they hadn't insulated some of the lines. Essentially, Joel completely uninstalled everything, demolished the platform, rebuilt the platform (he used to be a foreman and a journeyman framer for one of the largest home builders in Nevada), sealed and insulated the platform to make it airtight, bled the system (some of these terms may not be completely accurate as I am am not an HVAC tech), reinstalled everything, re-welded all of the connections, insulated what should have been insulated the first time around and got everything back up and running for less money than the original company charged me for the installation alone. In the end, it looks better, runs better and is finally saving me the 15 to 20 percent that I expected it to. I could not be happier or more impressed with HVAC Connection and give them my highest recommendation. read more

Easy 5 stars. I came home late last night to a blistering hot house- my A/C was not turning on, no fan, no heat, no nothing. So this morning I opened a case with my Home Warranty Company, and they assigned a different local A/C company (Air Squad) to do an inspection. However, Air Squad told me the earliest they could come out was 2 days from now. I asked if they had anything earlier as it's 100 degrees out and living in a house with no A/C is torture, and the lady on the phone gave me an attitude saying "I know, I live in Las Vegas too". Never mind their website states 1 hour service. I guess that 1 hour service is only for people that don't go through warranty companies. I then looked up their online reviews, and it seems that the attitude is the norm with them, along with lousy reviews regarding overcharging, unnecessary work, etc. So not wanting to deal with them, I came across the positive Yelp reviews for Joel & HVAC Connection. I called him and to my surprise, he showed up to my house within 1 hour, on a hot Saturday afternoon. After running some checks on my equipment, he found the problem without the need to replace any parts or upsell me on anything at all. Stupid me unknowingly/accidentally turned off a switch in my garage the day before that was killing all power to my A/C. I spent next to nothing for him to come out immediately, check my equipment, and fix the problem. I would have spent more on the service charge for the warranty company to send Air Squad to come out, days later- and who knows what they would have told me or advised. Joel is great!! He got to my house about 15 minutes after I called him. My compressors were shot, and he advised me to get a new unit, because mine was already about ten years old, and would just continue to break. (It needed a $700 repair last year.) He installed a new unit the next day for $6,300. By time I got home from work, my house was cool again. In less than 24 hours my problem was solved :) He was very friendly and professional, and worked with me to get me financed, because this was a very sudden and unexpected expense. I have friends who have paid much more, and who have not gotten very good service for their money. I consulted a few companies to replace my AC unit and convert my furnace to gas. None of them except for Joel seemed interested in converting my furnace to gas and the ones that were willing to do it gave me estimates so high that I thought I would be stuck with heat pump in this house forever. Joel however insisted I scrap the heat pump and install a gas furnace even though it was way more work for him without any more financial reward. On his second visit my central air unit had stopped working. I had the original company out that installed the unit a few weeks prior to fix a problem with a fan stuck on. Since they had worked on it the unit started having other issues. Joel came out and diagnosed the circuit board being bad and the condenser fan was burnt out. The other company cut a wire to stop the fan which was stuck on which caused other issues to arise. He went in to the attic and quickly discovered there was a small part with a crack in it that needed to be replaced.
