Our unit did not get any direct sunlight and was always dark and depressing in there. They are older units but functional. The stoves, washing machines, and tile are outdated. They have strange telephone outlets in the bathrooms too. The shower/tub combination is not for a larger human. Anyone over 6'2'' or over 250 pounds is going to have a heck of a time showering in there. They must have made them for short and skinny people. The unit does come with a TV, and a great gas fire place. I could have lived with out the staff and my neighbors and the landscape crew. We're these people nice? No. Were they just doing their jobs? Sure. The landscape there was a joke. They scalped the grass, never trimmed trees, or picked up leaves. I will say they did a good job at keeping us de-iced in the winter. Unhappy that my water bill was always over $100. Would I live here again long term? No. Would I do it in a pinch for a year? Yes.

We didn't have an appointment for a tour or anything like that but we had looked at the website prior so we know what we liked that was open. We walked in and we were greeted perfectly by TieRre who was incredibly sweet and ran us through everything we needed to know about the apartment we saw online!! It wasn't quite done with its renovations but we were able to get a good look at the apartment, which is absolutely beautiful! We went home and immediately knew this was the place we wanted to live. The process of applying online can be a little difficult for someone who hasn't done it before but TieRie was always emailing us back with any questions we had, and helped us through the whole process! If he missed a phone call from us, he was super quick to get back to us with an email to let us know about anything we asked!! He talked about the community and the perks you get, and how he himself lives in this complex and loves it!! I was helping my cousin move out and their poorly installed large bathroom mirror fell on me. Not only did they refuse to pay my medical bills but they charged my cousin $200 for the mirror that was stated to be only $60 in the lease contract to replace. When asked why there was such a discrepancy, their staff responded with the fact that they could. Seriously? Stay far away from these unprofessional staff and the apartments they manage.

Main consistent issue is…read morethat the walls and ceilings are on the thinner side and my upstairs neighbors love to walk around in shoes made of lead 24hrs a day. Maintenance is INCREDIBLE. They truly are what holds this place together. If any issues arose, they were there the next day and happy to help. They've always been really respectful (which was initially a worry as a young female), always super accommodating, and they're fun to chat with (shoutout to Billy and Eddie!!). Management has been okay (they were really laissez faire about the complaints about the neighbors which was really irritating). The main reason i am moving is because they have raised their rent and started to implement some price gouging tactics that are ridiculous. This includes required monthly charges of $10 trash valet service, $10 credit reporting, $5 utility service fee, $25 sewer charge, and $15 waiver of liability insurance ($65/month on top of rent and utilities). And they have just started implementing a policy that any guests have to register their vehicle and pay to park (in a lot that I've personally never seen fill up) - $5/hour or $15/day- or they will be towed at the vehicle owners expense. They do offer free wifi (wonder how long it will take for that to become a required charge) but it does go out randomly and frequently enough. I can understand how thats a fair trade off for it being free... still worth noting though. I have yet to move out so i cant wait to see the cleaning fees that are waiting for me in July. But I can say that one of my roommates moved out after the first year and she was charged over $100 (i cant remember the exact amount) as a cleaning fee. When i tell you that girl was minimalistic, clean, and careful, i mean it. She left that room spotless and the cleaning ladies who came in after were not in there for long. It's not a bad place by any means. No bug issues other than the occasional spider, gnat, or ant. Appliances work great and when our fridge didn't, maintenance was right on it. Theres a bus stop for main campus and Hy-vee right out front. If money is not an issue and you don't mind the buildup of $5-10 charges, then I recommend it. If you move here and you are someone who throws parties or regularly has several people over just please, for the love of God, request a first floor apartment....please.

He is extremely extremely reserved and it's better to leave him notes at his office/apt. Price, it's $460/month (2018-2019), no utilities. I paid $36/wk electricity (AC on 24/7 Westar), $16/month water and sewer (City of Lawrence), $20/month gas (Black Hills Energy), $40 Internet (ATT). No pets, only birds and bunnies are allowed. No recycling. No parties or loud music. He is very very strict.

They are so thin, in fact, that when I'm getting ready in the mornings I can hear the people who live above us use and flush the toilet. Management has changed hands many times. It's very hard to get ahold of anyone for maintenance issues. There seems to be some pretty heavy drug traffic (and without a doubt drug usage) in the complex. It appears most of the units share ventilation systems as we get smoke and dust from our upstairs neighbors regularly. We recently moved out and left the apartment in better shape than we got it, even paying a professional to clean our carpets. The onsite manager is refusing to refund any of our deposit and also refuses to give us the name of the owner or her boss so we can discuss the matter. We just filed a small claims lawsuit against the complex and we're hopeful that will be our last interaction with them. Ever.

I plan to stay for a couple more years until I graduate and here's why: The condo units are very nice with several upgrades such as modern light fixtures, nice carpet, new appliances, nice cabinets, in unit washer/dryer, etc. Also, this complex offers two bedroom units at a one bedroom unit price. The bedrooms are a little smaller than one might hope for but they are able to fit a queen bed and a large dresser comfortably. My apartment is a nice size for me and my 53 lbs Labrador, (that's right this place allows large pets which is very, very rare in Lawrence) each condo is approximately 800ft2. The floor plan is open which I really like. Unlike my last apartment I cannot hear my neighbors through the walls which is a HUGE plus. The walls must be thicker here than most other apartments because I never hear anything coming from the apartments next to me. Also, the complex is small so it has a nice community feel to it. There is more grassy areas for pets than most complexes offer which is great for my dog. I'd say the best thing about NPA's is its location. The location is what sold me on this apartment. It has a walking trail right next to it that I use to walk my dog daily. It is perfectly located between all Lawrence hot spots i.e. Mass St., 23rd St., Iowa St.,. It is literally the best location in town because your close to everything. One negative about the complex is that the patios are small compared to other places that I viewed. NPA's has recently gotten a new on site manager who has made it her mission to make the complex an awesome place to live. Every time I have spoken with her she has been very polite and helpful. She has helped start a community garden, and NPA's newsletter which has greatly improved the feel of the place. Overall, I am very happy with NPA's. It is a great, safe, and quiet place to live. I will be recommending NPA's to everyone I know.
