My earliest memory of the…read moreplace is when Granddad lived around the corner on Dyas Road and would always pick up his Evening Mail from there. I find it very satisfying that the shop is still there and looks pretty much as I remember it as a kid. Whilst it's changed hands a few times over the years it's still a reassuring fixture of the Kingstanding Road. These days I drop in once a month or so to buy tobacco, or some other 'essential' (is tobacco an essential?) as I pass through Kingstanding. As well as a newsagent this is also an off licence - it wasn't like that in my Granddad's day! - so, if the mood takes you, you can always pick up a beer or two for a reasonable price.

A large public car park is located just over the road, for shoppers visiting the Hawthorn shopping centre and several bus stops are within walking distance. Inside, the store is clean, spacious and very well organised. Though small in size, logical organisation and lack of makeshift shelving make ensure that the store never feels cramped, and friendly staff make every visit here a pleasant one. I've seen Chatali become a mother twice and watched the children grow into lovely well mannered young people which genuinely are a credit to her and Jit. Nothing is too much trouble for these pair of hard workers. Whether it is ordering in a fortnightly magazine or a monthly one, to sending your parcels or paying your bills, you won't find a nicer couple to help you with it. I don't know what I'd do without them, and don't want to find out either! If this would be a school report, it would be A+ & 5* all the way!

The young family that run the shop are really friendly and very helpful. Aside from the newspapers etc it also boasts a pay point useful for paying those bills, lottery and gas and electric pay as you go type cards. Who knows...) was lovely - really smiley and pleasant. It was also extremely well-stocked - with anything you could ever want from parcel tape to plastic toys - oh, and plenty of newspapers/ magazines, of course. They also had a great selection of general groceries, and the shop was clean and well-presented. Probably the best newsagents I've been to in the past few weeks. If I'm every after a drink, snack, or something to read on the train, I always head here instead of the much larger Smiths down on the station concourse. Newsflow's main selling point is the surprisingly expansive selection of magazines that they have on offer, with more than their wall space seems capable of holding. The prices haven't been ramped up with the proximity to the station in mind, either (a sharing bag of sweets retails for less than £2, which is competitive for anywhere, even large supermarkets), and the staff are always friendly. Even better, there's rarely a queue, meaning it can often prove to faster to go upstairs to Newsflow and then come back down to catch your train than it is to go to the nearby Smiths and queue for five minutes.

If you've read some of my other reviews then you'll know I like it when a business goes the extra mile and does something different to make themselves stand out from their competition. Supernews does this by selling stationary as well as everything you'd expect from a regular newsagents so I think the name 'Super' suits it well. Acocks Green is a large residential area so Supernews makes a nice alternative for people to pick up stationary just before, or during educational terms. It's also convenient to pick up a newpaper, tobacco and a snack as there aren't many places that offer this in Acocks Green; unless you want to go to a cafe and pay higher prices.

So it's ideal to pick up a news paper, chocolate bar, magazine and/ or drink whilst you're shopping. They also have a wide good selection of products. The guy behind the desk was pretty quiet. I suppose there's not a great deal to say when someone is just buying washing up liquid. All in all a pretty bog standard newsagents.
