Did not know that, and it was not disclosed until when the time came to show up in court, and she did not, someone else filled in for her, because of Covid. This was the very early stages of the pandemic and the virtual hearings were not set up yet. The lawyer that showed up, went in to the judges chambers with my ex-wife's lawyer, and a deal was made. What?????????? A bad deal for me. Then, Kasia went on maternity leave. She was replaced with someone who yelled at me on the phone. I was billed for phone calls made to my ex-wife's lawyer. I feel that if I am billed for an official phone call, I should be part of the discussion. Just like the documents, no documents should be sent to the other lawyer without the person's signature or approval. Which they did ask for my approval for every document. I ended up with about 30K in lawyer fees, all the marital debt, and child support, well higher than what the statutory would be. The law clearly states that the ordinary medical expenses should be covered by the child support. My lawyer argued with me that it does not. 750 IL CS 5/505 clearly states: A portion of the basic child support obligation is intended to cover basic ordinary out-of-pocket medical expenses. I am left with paying 60% of co-pays and 100% of medical insurance. I am being sincere, and not saying this out of spite, but I really felt like my lawyer did not have my best interest at heart. None of the three + Maxine who were involved in my case. Stay away at all costs from this place.

No one at the firm showed us the least bit of consideration or kindness. The length of time from our meeting to getting the paperwork was weeks and I was desperately trying to get my Moms affaires in order. When I asked for updates I got nothing. When they finally sent the paperwork they screwed up and had to get them redone. Months later, I had another legal matter come up and thought, well let me at least just get a couple questions answered. I emailed them to ask questions. I received a very curt response with spelling errors that made no sense. I wrote back repeatedly for clarification and was ignored. Never even bothered to correct the grammatical errors that made the response even more confusing. I would never come back here, nor recommend them to anyone.

I worked in an area of law where I saw first hand the consequences of plans not made or poorly executed. To avoid such problems, my wife and I worked with Kathryn Casey, an attorney with an exceptional understanding of long-term care planning. We wanted two things from her: an estate plan that met our current needs and a relationship with a a firm that would be available in the future, in case our needs or circumstances changed. Kathryn designed an estate plan that specifically met our needs, as opposed to a boilerplate approach that might not make sense for our situation. Just as importantly, Kathryn and her associates work every day in the areas of elder law, guardianship, and probate, and their knowledge in these areas gives us confidence that they will be there if we need them some day. One always hopes for the best and easiest outcome, but it is comforting to know that Kathryn Casey and her firm are available if and when they are needed. She is easy to work with, tremendously skilled and thoughtful, and her office handled our case in a timely and professional manner, and at a fair price.
