To add to my previous review…read more... My son's grades in 5th grade math by quarter: Q1: 52 Q2: 69 Q3: 64 Enrolled and started the Mathzone program between the end of Q3 and beginning of Q4 Q4: 99 That's right... he went from a 64 to a 99 in one quarter! If that's not proof of how well this program works, I'm not sure what else there is! Thank you Mathzone!

Please beware of the fine print. I signed up with Mathzone in an attempt to help my son get a…read morebetter grasp on Algebra 2. Marsha the owner was very informative and gracious during our initial call and I felt that she was very passionate about helping my son. During this time I noticed that she was doing all the work and my son was just copying. I addressed my initial concern and she said that she will adjust her style. Then on two occasions, I walked through the facility to use the bathroom and my son was just sitting there and she was the only tutor onsite with 3 students. At that point, I knew that he was not getting the full hour I paid for... he got about 20 to 30 minutes of help so I changed to virtual so that I was guaranteed one-on-one instruction and the full hour. During this period, my son really liked Marsha and felt very comfortable learning from her. I also liked her flexibility; she would go above and beyond to accommodate my schedule which is why I continued to stick it out thinking that things will get better. I ignored the red flags and just trusted Marsha. On Jan 16, I texted Marsha telling her that I noticed that she signed me up for another 3 months and advised her to change it to ad-hoc. That at this point I am just trying different things out. However, during the 1st virtual one-on-one session, I witnessed her again doing the entire problem first and then Niko just robotically agreeing to what she said. At that point, I advised Marsha that I will not continue and that her style is not the right fit for my son. my son had a D in two quarters under her and I did not want to continue the downward spiral. Therefore, I knew that I had completed the 3-month commitment from Oct to December. The virtual session I added in January was an ad-hoc session in an effort to try different things and to see if anything would change. however, she advised me that the contract is a perpetual contract and renews automatically and that I should have canceled in Dec. I was taken aback and informed her that I was never told that and I would have never agreed to sign a perpetual contract and at the minimum, I would have canceled within the appropriate timeframe. The sessions went from $345 to $499. So she said that I am locked in 3 more months from Feb to April. At this point, thought this was the craziest thing that a company cares more about the money than the service. With that, I ceased all conversation and will not ever pay her $1500 for a service that I will never use. This place is a rip-off! After this situation, I researched Mathzone and saw that there were complaints about this very issue. There is also a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Nevertheless, the response from MathZone is the same. They see no fault in their practices. Nevertheless, the issue I have is her method of doing the work for the students and not teaching them the concepts, the facility is short-staffed- she is the only tutor for 2-3 students-she is spread too thin, and the perpetual verbiage is hidden in the contract and not conveyed at the time of signing it.
