The best guest service experience I've ever had at a cosmetology school! Professional level work,…read moreand COVID-safe procedures! I highly recommend anyone needing any hair services to come here! Facilities: I came in for guest services (specifically for a perm and haircut). Le Jeane Academe is located within a cute Colonial Revival style building that's as charming on the inside as it is outside! The interior is very modern and spacious. All of the equipment, from styling seats to manicure tables were very new in condition. There's even a cafe inside, although it was closed when I came due to the pandemic. Hygiene: All staff wear masks and appropriate personal protective equipment. They also check your temperature when you come in. Everything that a guest would touch, from the pens to the chairs and tables were sterilized between guests. On top of this, I had an entire area of 10 styling seats to myself (and the two students and instructor, of course). The safety measures taken combined with the ample social distancing allowed me to leave with peace of mind and no anxiety about whether or not I might've contracted coronavirus. Student to Instructor Ratio: The student to instructor ratio was 2:1. While this review rates Le Jeane Academe from the point of view of guest services, I think any prospective cosmetology student should pay attention! Other schools I've been to, often have an instructor supervising 5 students, as well as floating between multiple guests. The best part is that I had one instructor dedicated to me; she didn't divide her time amongst other guests or students, and supervised my service the entire time. Quality of Work: I was extremely satisfied with the turnout of my perm and cut. The students clearly take pride in their work, and the same is true for the instructor. Of course, as students, there were a few moments when they needed help, but with an instructor dedicated to me, she was literally always available to offer help and instruction. Unlike some other schools where the students may need to call an instructor for help, at Le Jeane Academe, because all of the instructors' attention was on her students and one guest, she watched and was able to anticipate moments when the students would've had questions and show them. Not only did it probably provide better instruction, but it sped up my time here, as there was no unnecessary downtime and everything just flowed seamlessly! Conclusion: As a guest, I got professional salon quality results with my perm and haircut, with the whole visit taking about 3.5 hours, which is slightly slower than a professional salon, but much faster compared to most schools I've been to. Not too shabby, considering I only paid $48 for services that would've easily cost me 3x to 4x more at a salon!

Do not go to this "academy" for a microblading class. Cheri, the owner was late for both days of…read morethe class and taught outdated and ineffective techniques. She had the students applying duct tape to our models eye area. Have you ever seen that on a You Tube video?! No and you never will! Cheri was extremely disorganized. There didn't seem to be a lesson plan. My model later told me that she felt bad for us (the students) and felt it was unprofessional and disorganized. I've since gone on to learn correct techniques and sanitation for performing microblading. World of difference when you go to a good school/facility/instructor!! I'd hate to see anyone else waste their time and money with the hopes that they will learn this service. You won't learn it at Fountain of Youth Academy!

Making my first appointment at the academy was like pulling teeth. The girl on the phone,…read moreobviously a student, was so dim and clueless. I had a lot of trouble finding a day/time that worked, and she was absolutely no help at all. Usually when you're trying to schedule a service somewhere, the person doing the book will toss out days and times, but no, not this girl. She had absolutely zero phone skills. This was especially frustrating because it was their schedule that was tight, not mine. I was quite flexible, but apparently they were hit hard by the Groupon bookings. Next, the appointment. This place is really hidden and very easy to miss. It's a house that does not look like a salon at all. The sign is falling apart and angled poorly for drivers. I went for a mani/pedi and the mani was first. It was a very basic manicure. Absolutely no frills, yet somehow it took forever. The polish turned out to be a bust. There were so many thick layers to the polish job that it all started to peel off later in the day. The pedicure. Well, the pedicure was very awkward and not at all what I expected. Actually no paying customer should be getting a pedicure done this way. They do not have massage chairs, or even just a basic proper chair for the pedis to be done in. Feet are soaked in a bucket and polish is done with your feet in the student's lap. Yes, the student's lap. It was so uncomfortable. The polish job on the toes was much better than the nails, but I think it was because there were fewer layers of polish/base coat/top coat/quick dry/etc done on the toes. I purchased the Groupon for the unlimited mani/pedi's, but unfortunately it was an expensive mistake. I won't be returning.
