The food was amazing and the portions where a lot bigger then we expected. Definitely try The Hunter's Chowder.

The entrance was a little confusing - when you enter the doors to what you would think is the Ramble Inn Restaurant but you walk right into a bar/event space. There was a bunch of children running around - so I hope it wasn't just a bar, lol. Apparently the restaurant is to the right between what I thought was a wall but it was a really subtle doorway. Walking in, it was quite empty - we thought that it being St. Patrick's Day - it would be packed but NOPE, we were the first ones there. Cheers to small towns! Loved it! It was cutely decorated in St. Patrick's Day decoration & it had a home-feel to the regular decor. We were greeted by a waiter who seated us and gave us the pre-fixed menu. Oddly enough, I ordered the Chicken Curry, I gave my chicken to my friend. I was on a curry-obsession while in Ireland, don't ask me why. It was yummy as we were STARVING! It wasn't bad. Our waiter was super friendly but it seemed that he was training or something as he had someone helping him out and it seemed like they were helping him out. All in all, not bad, not bad.

Although smallish, it has two fireplaces, a few mini sofas, several plush easy chairs, a tall bistro table and a communal dining table for weary radio/audio makers to settle into, enjoy a drink or four and relax. I had their signature hot tea & whisky toddy with lemon, cloves and a bit of sugar. I also had a few Bushmills as one does. They have a full espresso service as well for a quick daytime pick-me-up but honestly, as I believe day-drinking was invented in Ireland, a coffee functions more like a gateway drug here with a pint or something quick to follow. It should be known that the prices are a bit more than other spots on main street but the slight uptick is worth it for the vast collection of curiosities and knick knacks that line the shelves and the general inimitable vibe--it's like a mini museum with drinks! The owners/bartenders/hosts are very kind and cheerful. I had done a bit of shopping earlier at the butcher's for a dinner party the following day and they refrigerated my purchases until I was ready to leave. For a brief shining moment, I felt like a local, at my "local" (aka pub) and I can't wait to go back to Kilfinane to experience this again. Thanks, Kellehers, you're lovely!
