One of the most eclectic places to shop at within Town & Country Village. The items on display here…read moreare as creative as they are unique and you'll have fun even walking around to get some inspiration for your home decor. The wood paneling details on some of the furniture pieces are pretty neat and make you appreciate how furniture is such a craft! The best part is the display items- all sorts of animal-themed items that make the house a fun place not just for kids but adults, too. Pro-tip try to park near Trader Joe's since there's way more parking out there and the walk is super short! Gotta think back to the other similar competing stores. There's Pier 1 Imports down in the LA area, which does carry some pretty eclectic items- one of my favorites being a single person hammock chair. But I guess that was when I was a bachelor. Now my idea of a splurge but must-needed furniture item is a round hammock swing that's big enough to fit me, the wife, and the kids. Also a puppy. Which brings me to my next point- before you pick out furniture, make sure you think about material! Cannot emphasize this enough- everything in a furniture store will always look pristine and clean, but have you given any thought to how long you want this piece? Will it look as good if it's white cotton and absorbs moisture like a sponge cake? Consider if a covering for the furniture piece is an option and/or if it would actually look nice. There's nothing like going to your uncle's house where a nice piece of furniture was covered with a nice cloth to protect it, then an older cloth was put over the nice cloth to protect the cloth, so that by the time they have an important guest coming and want to show off the original piece of furniture, it's already been worn down! Keep your timeline close to the front of your mind folks! This is a place where it really pays to look carefully. There jewelry collection is pretty substantial and has a wide variety of pieces. I had one find that blew me away: an Ancient Roman bronze belt buckle that had been turned into a pendant. Circa 100 CE. Pretty sure it was the oldest thing in the building, but I can't be absolutely sure. The employees were delightful to talk to and were very helpful on getting prices and showing me things in display cases. I got into a long conversation with an art historian over the aforementioned belt buckle. Prices range. I bought a pair of beautiful pillows for under 35 dollars. But there are some pieces here that are either so rare, unusual or simply intrinsically valuable that they are going to be an investment. This is by no means a thrift-store. Will definitely return.

Despite the insanely overpriced books and largely unimpressive offerings, understanding the "maybe…read moretoday" nature of these places, I'll pop in once a month or so to try my luck. Without fail, the duo of whomever is on the schedule to work the desk/register is: preoccupied, disinterested, dismissive and almost comically rude. This is so incongruous with the majority of folks who work in these types places -- most are Olympian small talkers so happy to work among cool things with history and to encounter 'their people' walking through the doors. It's almost like they wanted to work at Celine or Balenciaga but didn't fit the aesthetic profile so brought their (apparently contagious) shi**y attitude and unhelpful countenance to Lincoln and Palms. So if you're looking for those gigantic MCM lamps in seriously ugly colors, laughably 'naive' art and the aforementioned ridiculously expensive basic book fare, heading over to The Mart Collective where they'll surely make you feel unwelcome.

I interviewed my dauntingly brilliant friend Laila Lalami about her new novel, "The Dream Hotel," and the store was kind of an ideal venue. It was a lovely place, well designed with an intuitive layout, and tons of attractive merchandise. I spent some time browsing the furniture and housewares, and everything was tasteful, pretty, and of obvious high quality. I got a nice gift as thanks for my participation in the event, some fancy tea and a ceramic mug. I almost never want a free mug, but I really like this one. The store worked quite well as an event space. A little bar popped up in the middle of the store, and there was food set up in back. There was also, of course, an abundance of comfortable seating. Whether you're looking for furniture or hoping to host a cool event, I'd recommend Nickey Kehoe. It's a beautiful store with a lot to offer.

I understand my bf's choice of words can make him sound like a Karen but he was trying to purchase a Grogu (baby yoda) pin from the vending machine outside the shop as a gift for a friend. It was cheaper by a tinier margin, and I guess him asking for clarification on the price difference was weird. He made his purchase and left the store, then as the cashier was ringing me up for my pencils they straight up talked about him. Unless he was being straight up rude to y'all (which he wasn't because I was right there), it doesn't look professional to talk about customers for other customers to hear within earshot It personally ruined my experience and I hope you gro(gu)w from this Also how are you gonna be selling the pins without knowing who the character was?
