(See my review on Northern Property NI, I added the company on here as it conveniently seemed to avoid Yelp somehow). We told them what we went through and they wanted to help us straight away. We went for a viewing of an apartment right round the corner from the place we were meant to move in to with those Northern Property glipes and this place was in immaculate condition! Every fraction of the place was sparkling. There was a brand new mattress on the bed, sofas etc as advertised. It was massive and £25 cheaper for better quality (see my other review on that). We had our own furniture though but because the guy who owned the place was now living abroad he couldn't take the things away so we put them in the spare bedroom and my partner used it as a man cave lol the only thing was we had a few insignificant faults that we contacted them about and a guy came out to have a look and log them but nothing was ever done about them in the year we were there no matter how many times they came out to look at them. The maintenance manager is a lovely guy and the girl Sinead we were dealing with was brilliant, they're all so friendly you could happily talk to them all day! The only reason why we left was we were expecting our first baby and there wasn't the room for the nursery because of the owners furniture but I would recommend this company to everyone!

I can only comment on the service I have received as a tenant but not the other services. This office is located on Woodstock Road, close to the city centre. Campbell and Co does not restrict their sales and lettings on particular areas but offer properties from all over Belfast and even from beyond. Their website is very informative and easy to navigate. I have come across their ads on one of the major property sites and I have been their client for 2.5 years now. I am pleased with their customer service as they are very flexible when it comes to property viewings, all the correspondence and contracts are very clear and understandable, and they conduct business very quickly. Starting with the staff - In their defense there is one nice member of staff who is always helpful and friendly. The rest of the staff who I have had dealings with are quite the opposite and are very rude, unhelpful and often tell you lies like "Yes of course he will be at your property today to fix your shower" or "yes this property is the only one in the street fitted with an alarm" - a blatant lie when you hear other neighbours alarms going off at 3am. Regarding inspections which are contractually mean't to be carried out every 3 months, they seem to come every 2 months if not less. They will not re-arrange your inspection, even if you have exceptional circumstances. ie: your family is staying. Their inspectors don't check all the rooms, don't even peer over to see the garden, do not check for damage and rarely even check the kitchen area. ps: if I was a landlord, paying them good money for their services (ie: to inspect the house to make sure the tenants aren't doing damage) I would ask for a refund. I have often toyed with the idea of ringing the landlord directly to advise her to get a new letting agent. Lastly, repairs - You could have no hot water, no shower and no electric and you would ring them to get an electrican/plumber round straight away. How quickly do you think they will help you? Well first of all they will send their sales guy round to make sure you are a) not lying about your problem and b) not so stupid you forgot to turn the shower on or your tap off. Then you will be promised action straight away, they won't return your calls or they will straight up lie to you and you will be left out of the picture with a leaky tap or a broken shower, for days. In a nutshell, they couldn't care less about your property or your tenants. They will lie to you, ignore you, talk down to you and walk all over you. I found the only thing that works when dealing with them is to not bother - because it really won't make a blind bit of diffference. Avoid at all costs.

Their local expertise is brilliant and they don't even charge a fee for applying for rental property. A leaking tap i had was dealt with within 1 hour these guys are on the ball. We had a problem when our neighbour who also rented from them would be noisy when he'd bring his girlfriend back, we had to listen to the headboard hitting the wall a lot of times during the night, in fact so many times we nicknamed him "the rabbit". We tried moving into the other room but still heard it and were worried it would wake our baby up. We were also concerned the "rabbiting" would put the wall in. We didn't want to approach him ourselves and contacted vision who got in touch with him and sorted it out. They weren't afraid to handle an awkward situation and were very professional. We haven't had any more screaming or rabbiting keeping us awake.

I stumbled upon my Lucas Building property and booked a viewing. The agent, Stephen showed up and gave us the tour. The images on the website really didn't do it justice, when you saw the place with your own eyes it really shone. The paperwork was simple and easy to handle. Since signing the contract any issues we have had have been quickly and smoothly dealt with (excluding one instance where I needed a form signed) Certainly one of the most professional and reliable letting agents int he city centre with lots of properties on offer.

They have an excellent website and the staff are always welcoming and non intrusive whether you are in the shop or out viewing a property. Me and my friends viewed a few properties with these guys when we were students and I always found them to be helpful, polite and honest. They did not want to oversell to us or pressure us. I found this relaxing and refreshing. It was maybe because they sell lots of flats to students due to their Ormeau Road location but I found the service to be excellent.

They refuse to fix stuff at weekends or evenings, they will constantly invade your privacy. They come up with the most ridiculous excuses not to give your deposit back. As a tenant with them for over 2 years, I can honestly say I'm glad to be rid of them. I've never had such an awful experience with an estate agents.

Its difficult probably to sum up and estate agent as they all do the same thing basically. Just some are better and nicer than others. These guys offer good customer service and they really know the rental market along with having good local knowledge as well. If I was to rent a house I would definitely go to them to see if they had anything for me, as in north Belfast there are some houses out there for rent at a really good price.

When wanting to book a viewing appointment, the receptionist Pauline cheerfully answered the phone and easily organised a suitable time for both myself and the estate agent. Our assigned agent, John happily presented the properties on offer and answered every question that we had about the surrounding area or specifics such as electricity and gas. When arranging a deposit and contracts, D.N. Huston's were professional and cut out all the unnecessary jargon in contracts, they were more than helpful with every enquiry we had. As well as this, when I had a small problem with a water leak, Huston Properties managed to get someone to look at it the very next day. The problem was located and fixed within the week that I had made the complaint. Perfect!

From personal experience I have found: they largely ignore any issues that come up with property,…read morecan be quite rude & disrespectful to clients. eg. standing outside my house with burst pipes flooding the entire bathroom, in -15 cel temperatures at Christmas, after calling several times over a two hour period, to be harassed by their staff telling us its our fault, and to fix it ourselves. When in fact we where not even in the house when it happened. Eventually after much hassle, it two 3 weeks for them to have our house repaired, with working bathroom & drinking water. We received no apology or compensation, despite having to rent temporary accommodation at our own expense. This is just one of a number occasions, where Douglas Huston has failed to live up to any standard. I thought, okay maybe they are just like this with us, maybe we have had an isolated incident, then whilst talking with a colleague at work about the situation, she mentioned that she also had been a client with Douglas Huston the previous year and had received a similar experience, vowing never to use them again. I'd say go with them, but as a last resort, I shall be seeking another estate agent next year.
