I have not had much experience with these guys apart from taking a jaunt into their offices whilst passing by. Their office's are a little bare, but its the style of most agents offices now to look kinda of minimal. They were quite friendly to me when I enquired about a property, although they did get a little pushy when I said I'll come back later. I had only come in to be nosey (and grab a sneaky Yelp) but I ended up giving them my mobile number to just get back out of the door! I have heard of some people having problems when they're rented accommodation was being managed by Property People, but who doesn't have a gripe with those people who take your money off you every month!

All the staff were huddled together at a computer giggling eating and making us feel uncomfortable as if we were wasting their time. 3 staff members in the office and when we asked to see a suitable apartment I was told they could fit us in next day at 2 as they were too busy. Went to other agency and got sorted with viewing same day and have happily got sorted. Worst experience ever, no customer service at all. AVOID UNLESS DESPERATE.

At school we were warned away from Lairds due to their history of dodgy dealings but this not stop…read moreme stepping foot into their offices every year of university life. Lairds is an estate agent institution. Every student will have been warned and every student will ignore the hazard because Laird is handy. It's located in the university area, they have loads of properties and they put all properties and their details on a nicely designed out sheet for all to see. But that's the easy part over. After this the torment will begin. The dreaded contract with guarantors signing in front of solicitors is enough to scare any new student into oblivion. Then you move in and have the viewings that no-one tells you about. You were out last night, stumbled home, may be semi naked but definitely stinking of booze. It's 9am and you wakened by an estate agent knocking on your door and entering your room with two bright eyed and busy tailed students. Nightmare. However, if you have very little to do and fancy a bit of banter, book a viewing and pray to God you get the little man from Southern Ireland. He's fantastic craic and will leave you with stories from his estate agent past. It's worth it just for him.

This particular estate agents provided us with alot more problems than renting our first house…read moreshould have had. Firstly they insisted that the leases be faxed to them, not posted or dropped in. Who nowadays faxes instead of emails?! Next they lost the lease of myself and my friend twice, thus making it more of a pain in the backside than I'd wanted. THEN because the leases were not all handed in, they put the house back up on their website. AND at £20 more than we were paying, which our landlady had no idea about. AND then they signed up to a mobile phone operator who continued to send us push-messages about renewing our lease when we had already agreed to move out and the landlady had new tennants. Total disaster

McGeown are an absolute farce of an estate agent…read more We rented a property in 2011, they wanted our witnesses present to sign the tenancy. They CONSTANTLY forget what property we live in any time we have an issue to resolve. In addition, most recently, I got a text from our landlord to say we hadn't paid our rent for April/May. I checked my bank statements and the money had went out on the agreed dates to McGeown. Rang them up to try and get it resolved, they didn't know who I was again, said they had never heard of the property, then finally concurred they did rent this one, then said they had no idea why the money was going to them and didn't challenge an extra £550 sitting resting in their business account. Still waiting on a resolution. Piece of advice: Don't let with them and don't rent from them. 3 words to sum them up. Incompetant. Useless. Infuriating.
