It has definitely become the go-to place to grab a good quality burger throughout Australia. Despite the large number of stores throughout Australia if definitely does not have the 'chain' vibe and each location tends to have its own personality. The Garden City shopping centre Grill'd certainly provides an enjoyable experience. The burgers are always top quality and the waiting times are low, even during busy periods such as weekend lunch. This particular location always seems to have a bevy of reading material for diners to peruse while they are waiting for and eating their burgers. My personal favourites are the 'Hot Mama' Moroccan flavoured burger and the much more traditional 'Summer Sunset' which comes with some of that sweet sweet pineapple. The range is very interesting and they seem to be constantly adding to the menu with new salads and steak sandwiches. Vegetarian options are also available for those inclined, and the home style thick cut chips with rosemary salt always go down a treat. Staff are always helpful and friendly. If anything a bit too friendly almost chasing you out of the store as you leave to make sure that they have said 'Have a great day'. If you have been living under a rock, or simply have passed by thinking that you do not want to pay upwards of $10 for a burger, trust me, it is definitely worth your while to give it a try, and you will likely become just as hooked as me.

I'm not sure if there's been a change across the chain since then, but my visit to Brisbane's Wintergarden Grill'd was a bit sub-par compared to what I remembered. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? The service and atmosphere at this Grill'd are both perfectly fine, and they've got a good deal of real estate to work with. The burgers are made fresh to order, so you can expect to wait a good ten minutes as I did for my standard Grill'd Burger. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? $12.00 AUD for a Grill'd Burger was a reasonable price point, and this burger was of good size. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Everything about my Grill'd Burger was just okay. For starters, while the patty had some good flavor to it it was far too small especially compared to the oversized bun. From there, the peripherals were unique enough to keep it interesting, but made the patty seem like a supporting act as opposed to the star of the show. Single Star. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? The Wintergarden Grill'd dishes up good burgers, but I don't think great burgers. No Star.

Grill'd's (that's weird) look is novel, and varies between chains, but I especially like this one with it's extra-large fork "chandelier" and wooden interior decor (and went a little photo happy with my iPhone). Their decor isn't anything elaborate, but simple and novel. I like their overall presentation of both the place and the food, plus they give you an "emergency knife" for those who have hard time managing their burger... I had the Moroccan Lamb burger, which was better than one of their beef burgers that I had some time ago, and their fries were pretty good as usual. Boris had a beef burger, which looked pretty good, especially with the panini bread, rather than the traditional. Though the patties were still the "Australian burger patties" that come in "pattie-cutter" form and resemble meatloaf, the burger combinations of Grill'd's burgers still better than a lot of places that I've tried. Yee, I'm not sure that meal was exactly 'healthy' as they advertise it, but it did leave me full for quite a while after...

It only took about 10 minutes in line to get my food so the line moves pretty quick. I have to say, the sandwich I had is best sandwich I have ever had (I was also starving so this worked out well). There is a menu up on a board that you can see when you wait in line, but they also have menu's you can take at the counter. You order what you want first, they print out your order and ask for your name to tell the people preparing the food to ensure the meal gets to the right person. I ordered the chicken cesar pita with an orange juice (all up around $15). You choose your own salad & dressing, and they seem to have a huge range of dressing. You also have the choice of white or wholemeal pita bread, and it comes in small or regular. They also have sides which are cookies, brownies, or oven baked potato wedges. They also do an all day breakfast. You have the option of eat in or takeaway. There are benches inside or tables outside. I was very impressed with this place and they have good service and excellent food. I will definitely be returning.

The restaurant is very much open but manages to retain so much charm. You just want to sit yourself down in a booth with a loved one and talk with them until there is nothing left to say and only the assumption of love is left. We managed to arrive just after the lunch rush, so ordering was quick and the wait time was minimal. If you like Reese's Pieces peanut butter candy you must try the Natella Peanut Butter milkshake. A sweet infusion of chocolate and peanuts that was just too delicious. I had the New Yorker and my wife the el Diablo. The New Yorker was such an enjoyable burger, only issue was the glazed milk bun was cut on such a slope that it thinned out terribly on one side. Despite that you could really bite into the beef pattie, the salt from maple bacon, pickles and American style cheddar were held in place by the hickory BBQ sauce and freshness of the lettuce and tomato. My wife very much enjoyed her el Diablo and said she'd order it again. The staff were friendly and helpful. A very pleasant experience all round.

I ordered the Big Queenslander that is lean beef, tasty cheese, crispy trim bacon, free range egg, couple of slices of beetroot with salad, relish, and herbed mayo with hot chips. The burger was HUGE! It was tasty as well but got a bit messy. I think the egg was a bit too much for me. The highlight was definitely the beetroot. I have fallen in love with beetroot since coming to Australia. The buns were fine but didn't stand out like the Beastie ones. The hot chips had a Grill'd herb mix which was pretty tasty. It's nice to add garlic and salt to the chips. Since there were so many burgers to choose from, I would like to go back to Grill'd and try out a chicken burger. In…read morethe end it was a disappointing experience, or as others that joined us referred to "below Grill'd" standard. The decor is brilliant - I believe it was designed by a interior design firm. They take a lot of cues from most modern fitouts (subway tiles, etc) I ordered "The Master" which was their "standard" burger for $12. I like to order the basic burgers so I can fairly compare to other venues. As it arrived to our table the first thing we all noticed was the colour of the meat: pale, grey "beef" The burger came with the pickle pinned to the top, which in theory is a great way to keep the pickles separate if you're not a fan of pickles - but that only works if you drain the pickle before you pin it. Instead, the pickle juice made a soggy brioche bun. The burger itself was about room temperature, but then again, it was a hot day in Brisbane? The meat was the real disappointment. It was pale, grey and so very, very flavourless. I thought they might have mixed up our orders and given us all pork or chicken mince patties instead (4 of us got the same basic burger) but when I asked to clarify they insisted it was beef. One of our mates got the "Master Tom" which came with a dark beef mince patty. The Master burger is supposedly a lean mince patty, which is fine, but it flaked apart like you were eating fish! As a whole, the burger was then wet and sloppy (juicy patty) and the only flavour was a mild mayonnaise. We ordered dirty fries and they were OK - cheese and caramelised onions, but the chips they use are strangely dry. I'll revisit with another burger soon but I would recommend hastily replacing The Master.
