I am American, I am a huge foodie, and I eat steaks and food all around the world. I was able to say, "that was the best steak I have ever had in my life!" I had the 9oz Kangaroo fillet cooked medium rare. It was perfect. My whole table ordered Kangaroo, either the fillet, or the hamburger. Everyone was quite pleased. The Kangaroo fillet is lean protein, won't make your waist line bulge. It was so tender, I cut it with a butter knife. It needed nothing, just the steak itself, it was absolutely delicious. The service was good, although our service was novice, I suggest in the future before he steps out into the field memorize the menu before you start seeing customers, I got a lot of "I don't knows", but that is OK, it's a training issue, but the food was fantastic and that is all that mattered. I enjoyed a nice glass of port afterwards and my lot enjoyed the guest ales they had on top. I've also experimented with the pizzas, they are quite nice, but who needs a pizza when you can have a Kangaroo fillet? I eagerly await my next meal at the Station, I look forward to trying another exotic animal.

The restaurant is nice and clean, however tables are a bit sticky. Burgers were fresh, but not standing out, but FRIES WERE REALLY GOOD! Food has now turned up literally within five minutes. Let me taste and then carry onTwenty minutes later and two stone in weight. I have absolutely nothing whatsoever to complain about. That was a damn good meal, at a damn good price and probably one of the best American meals I have had in my entire life. Sublime burger cooked to perfection, absolutely smothered in chili, a mountain of fries, a mixed salad big enough to be a meal in itself and a pint of Bud. Grand total £13.95. Get in there!

I was clearly instructed not to dress up for this place and not to expect much. So I didn't. When you walk in to TOOO it's as if you're stepping back in time and right away I recognised the wallpaper as being the exact same that my Grandfather has at home in NY from the 1960's, so I automatically felt comfortable. I laughed actually. Look around and it's as if not a single thing has been moved since it was put up there for the first time, whether it be pictures, the wood in the fireplace or the old man at the bar. You can nestle up next to one of the fireplaces, which you'll need to on a snowy winter night like when we were there. Get yourself your pints, or as I prefer, the spectacular cider from one of the barrels lined up on the bar. We're talking 7% alcho content people! On cider! Get some crisps for you and your mates and sit back talking about how old and great this pub is. In a town that is hailed as "the oldest recorded town in England" and hosts meeting for the Colchester Historical Enactment Society you surely can't go wrong. A place like this made me feel right at home like my own American dive bar, but in the States we don't have such grand cider served from wooden barrels or a lovely old fella giving out warm Christmas mince pies with joy. This place is top notch. Here are a few vital tips to help you survive a pub that could easily knock you on your arse whether it be by the cider, the step you drunkenly miss, the old man or the bar keep... 1. Don't you dare answer your cell phone here. This is a rule I LOVE like no other. Seriously, watch even pulling it out of your pocket if you know what's good for you. 2. Don't be surprised if you think someone's talking to you and they're not or if they're talking to you and you don't realise. There's no music to get in the way of a conversation, but all that quiet makes it sometimes confusing. 3. Good luck in the ladies room. You could really freeze your butt to the toilet if you're not careful. 4. And, if you're lucky enough to pull while in TOOO, feel confident in knowing that the condom machine is fully stocked. P.S. please don't start coming here and making it THE cool spot in Colchester. I want to find a seat when I return next Christmas, preferably by the fireplace.

The Odd One Out or Oddy as the regulars like to call it, is a cosy pub not far from Colchester…read moreTown-station. Its decoration and the crackling fire make you feel like coming home instead of entering just an ordinary place to have a drink or two. The Oddy is most famous for its delicious ciders from the region and got most recently awarded as the East Anglian Regional Cider Pub of the Year by the Campaign for Real Ale, but you also get a nice range of Scotch and of course ale here. The crowd is mixed from young to old and always friendly just like owner John Parrick, who has a few rules, though, like no swearing and no usage of mobile phones inside the pub. But once you tried one of the aforementioned ciders you want to enjoy it with no disturbance from the outside world anyway. And on top of all that the prices are low and to quote a good friend of mine This is one of the few places where you still get a pint when you order a pint.

The pepperoni wasn't even baked into the pizza, and it kept falling off. It doesn't come sliced, but when I was trying to cut it, it was such a struggle. I was better off going to Domino's or Pizza Hut honestly. I had to send it back. They replaced it and I got the Cajun chicken wrap that came with cole slaw and fries. The wrap was slightly better; at least it had some kind of flavor to it. The fries were hard with no seasoning. I even tried to add salt and pepper, I still couldn't eat it. I wasn't a fan of the cole slaw either. The only thing I got that was decent were the mozzarella sticks and the bottled Arizona tea. Obviously from my one star I would not recommend eating here. They have a huge bar with an extensive cocktail list (my wife was in heaven). We went on a Friday night and had to wait at the bar for about half an hour before our table was ready which is pretty good I think. The food wasn't bad. I had calamari for a starter which was unbelievably good. That was followed by a Black and Blue Burger which was not bad. Good size portions. The service here was friendly and I never had any problems getting there attention. I was pleasantly surprised when the bill came as I was expecting to pay more. Loads of pay and display parking just across the road. There are many more places in Bury St Edmunds that I would like to try before coming back to Frankie and Benny's, however I can see me coming back here one day. I want to give this place 3 stars but we had such a fun experience, I think it's only fair to give 4 stars!

I like my beers a little on the hoppy side, so this choice was perfect: not too hoppy, but still carries a citrus taste. Being an American I can say I've never laid eyes on a pancake like that and I've had my share. They tasted nice, but it was essentially a couple scones made from pancake batter. We went back again for breakfast a few weeks later and brought friends from London with us and tries more of the egg dishes, bacon, and chorizo this time which were all stellar. Franks is quickly becoming our favorite breakfast and brunch place in Norwich. This Thursday we are planning of stopping in for dinner to give it a go.
