I visited here around noon on a weekday. I sat outside, where it wasn't very busy. It did not take…read morevery long at all for a waiter to greet me and give me a menu. As soon as I looked at the menu, I knew I had made a mistake. This place seems to be solely for the purpose of drinking wine, not, as I expected, a good place to try new wines with different food pairings. Perhaps if there were more people in my party or if I had not been on a budget, this purpose would have been better accommodated. However, I accepted that I had sat down here and decided to give it a chance. The first thing, obviously, was to order a drink.Their selection of rose and cider was abysmal, no more than two options for either. At first, I thought, "Well, it is a WINE bar," but then I continued looking through the menu and their offerings of gin, whiskey, and other spirits was quite impressive. While it was possible to order reds and whites by the glass, there was only one 'by the glass' option for champagne, rose, and sparkling wines, and I was not in the mood to have to mull over the menu again if I did not like their selection. So, I ordered the cider. When the waiter brought it over, I noticed something on the inside of the glass, but when I looked up to tell him about it, he had already gone. I waited for him to come back, which took five minutes and I did not receive an apology, which I was not hung up about but it is still good customer service to do so. Once he returned and I tried the cider, I found it quite sour and not to my taste. The wines had descriptions so I felt one for the ciders and ales would have done very well. As for food, their offerings were mainly cheese and charcuterie dishes. I was looking for something more substantial, but it would have been rude not to order anything so I ordered the bread board, which is merely bread and olive oil. It was perfectly fine. The service was not anything to be impressed by. The waiter was not friendly at all. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very touristy, at least to me. Perhaps this is due to its location on the river, where students and companies are trying to get the tourists to go on a punting tours. Overall, unsatisfactory. Will not be going back.

We sat inside and ordered the tobacco old fashioned and the corn & oil cocktails both of which were very tasty and worth their weight in alcohol. We also ordered some light snacks; bread, cheese, olives, olive oil and balsamic, pickles, and mustard which did the trick to help with drinking on an empty stomach although nothing super memorable but it did its job. Our server was attentive and we enjoyed the ambiance of the small but functional facilities on our first trip to Mill Rd; we're excited to return to try more!

God, it's dangerous this place is just around the corner from where I live. Just a few weeks ago,…read moreit's replaced the meze restaurant and now is a cool, classy bar. (Best wishes for the previous owners...I did try their food and thought it well.) Well, I've been to this new bar at least three times now since it's opened a month ago, and I'm trying to utilize my willpower and not go to spend my money. Alas, the owner makes good drinks with fresh ingredients and bases and liqueurs that aren't stocked elsewhere. In addition to getting our cocktails (e.g. caipirinha, margarita anejo) with what seems to be quite top-shelf (or at least mid-shelf...is that a word?...) spirits for 6.75-7.75 pounds per drink, my bf and I have been addicted to the coffee-infused Patron shots, which aren't cheap but are really delicious. I really like the environment since it's quite chilled and non-rowdy. I can't stand yelling over others at bars and clubs that put too much crap syrup in their drinks. So anyway, good, laid-back but classy vibe here with fresh drinks. Not the cheapest but affordable for a weekly indulgence if you're a college student/yuppie. God this place is pandering to my alcoholic needs.

This is a fantastic space. It's a hall type building that has been very carefully transformed into a large restaurant which successfully maintains an intimate feel using delicate lighting, cleverly created seating areas and has a large bar and pizza oven framing each end of the building. The menu's refreshing, as it's effectively a double-sided sheet with Italian delights on one side and mediterranean on the other, so if you have friends who want to eat Italian but you fancy something different or vice versa, the choice will please you in a big way. We're both vegetarian, and the selection of vegetarian food was excellent, though it's worth pointing out that like all awkward customers I set my heart on one of the meaty offerings and asked if they would be able to do me it without the meat, which the restaurant happily obliged. Top notch. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, we didn't feel rushed at all and once we asked for the bill it arrived promptly with the card machine following suit very soon after. Again top notch. The only thing we could fault was the starter, which arrived a little cooler than you would normally expect for deep fried brie, but was still delicious. A nice atmosphere, a great wine menu and effectively TWO menu's makes this an easy pick if you're looking for great food away from the usual chains. Highly recommended.
